Does Windows 11 improve the performance of CPU bound programs? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 11:34 AM PDT Hi, I am willing to install Windows 11 on my computer, that has an AMD A4-5300 (dual core, 3.6 GHz) and I saw that CPU bound programs like some games run a little bit better. Is this actually true? [link] [comments]

Where can I buy a legit Windows 7 Pro key? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 07:45 PM PDT Does anyone know where I can buy a legit Windows 7 Pro 64 bit retail key. I would prefer to buy just the key, so that I could just download the OS from Microsoft's website. Thanks for any help. [link] [comments]
How do I hide the ongoing call window for "your phone" app Posted: 01 Oct 2021 07:21 PM PDT I like the "your phone" app and i'd like to be able to use it and hang calls p and such with it, but the ongoing call window won't go away without ending the call. I'm not using the computer for anything involving the call, but would still like to be able to hang up and dial and such so disabling the phone portion is not what i'd like. How do i hide the window without ending the call or disabling phonecall support? [link] [comments]

is file system fragmenting still an issue in NTFS in 2021? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 06:04 AM PDT I have a old desktop running Xubuntu with an hard drive and never once, in the 9 years I've used Linux, did I ever need to defrag my hard drive, in fact, Linux doesn't have a defragmenter by default and that's because the EXT4 file system doesn't fragment files in the same way as NTFS does. I recall back when I was using Windows XP, I had to defrag my hard drive once per month because my computer would become sluggishly slow. If file system fragmenting still an issue in Windows 10 or Windows 11, why is that still an issue in NTFS, 28 years after it's development? [link] [comments]

Is there a a utility to check if files from one folder exist in a different folder? Posted: 01 Oct 2021 08:45 AM PDT I am attempting to clean up my external HD. It has backups from various times - some more complete than others. The complicating factor is that the directory structures are not 100% consistent from backup to back up (some files were moved to subfolders before the next backup) I want to check if any files from backup-1 are in backup-2 or the subfolders of backup-2. I know I can do a search for each file but that is way too tedious for me. Is there a utility that can do this check? Thanks [link] [comments]
So tired of windows 10's boogaloos Posted: 01 Oct 2021 09:20 AM PDT I can tolerate the bloatware. But one thing I absolutely cannot tolerate is windows INSTANTLY CRASHES EVERYTHING WITHOUT ANY GODDAMN WARNING WHEN AN UPDATE COMES OUT. I'm not even updating windows at that time, I was just enjoying a game when suddenly EVERYTHING crashes, including my GPU. I instinctively checked windows update from personal experience and of course its just windows having a new update that came out. As if that is not enough windows decided to spit on me and continually crashes everything throughout the entire installation of the update. It's not the first time this happened, numerous times in the past windows would crash everything causing me to lose progress on my work or games, just because an update came out(not even installing it yet still crashes everything). Every day I use my pc in fear of almighty windows deciding to crash everything and all because an update came out. Please, fix this issue I don't wanna lose progress on everything I am doing on my pc again. TL;DR: whenever windows update comes out(not even installing it yet) it crashes everything including GPU's etc. and throughout the update process it keeps on crashing. Bill gates pls fix.
