    Which laptop should I get?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 08:43 AM PDT

Cocktail of BSODS, Freezing and Unending Restarts. So this is HP Folio 1040 G1, I bought it off ebay but now it's in a worrying state. I need expert help demystify what's the issue. Current symptoms I get bluescreens of death with varying stopcodes but major one is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    Laptop not running on expected performance (i5 10300h + 2070 Super Max Q + 8GB RAM)

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 02:00 PM PDT

Before I bought this laptop, I watched its performance and capabilities on YouTube. However, when I tried playing the games that were benchmarked on the videos, it seems like my games' FPS are lower. I also only play with my CPU running on base clock speed to avoid overheating issues since it's hot in my country. To add, the laptop is new so I assume that air vents are still clean. What could be the possible reason behind this?

    In addition, I already:
    - Turned on the dedicated GPU to each game application
    - Switched to an Ultimate Performance Power Plan
    - Plugged my charger

To give a few examples, here are the compared performances:
    1. Valorant
YT: 170+ FPS (Max Settings and only 2060)
    Mine: 70-120FPS (Low settings)

    1. Minecraft
      YT: 250-300+ FPS (Max settings)
Mine: 80-150FPS (6GB RAM Allocated; Max settings with Render Distance of 12)

    New gpu or new laptop?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 01:29 PM PDT

My parents are divorced and I currently game on an ancient razor but my dad recently gave me a kick ass pc from a couple years ago with really good specs (he worked at Microsoft so he got a ton of pc parts for free excluding graphics cards) all it needs to be super good is a new gpu so I was wondering if I should get a new laptop or a new gpu. I transfer houses twice a week I've never had a good pc before so I was wondering if I should spend my money on a powerful bulky pc that I would need to drag between houses or a light weak laptop I can put in my school bag. I also posted this on r/pcmasterrace cause I didn't know where to put this. Thank you!

Would a complete windows reboot fix issues with a jailbroken laptop?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 12:43 PM PDT

I recently acquired a laptop that I suspect was jailbroken at one point. now it is getting rejected by my network because of the parental controls. seeing as how I'm not to keen on changing these if I were to format the drives and download a fresh windows 10 version would this fix the problem?

Is it ok to not have 4 gb oem laptop ram and 8gb aftermarket ram?

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 08:32 AM PDT

It is a lenovo ideapad 3 and gskill 8gb, both same latency, ddr4, mhz, the reason I didn't buy 2 of the same since the oem ram is soldered into the motherboard

Just want to be sure before I buy the ram

    New laptop support

    Posted: 01 Oct 2021 11:22 AM PDT

So I have a Lenovo yoga that I love. The 2-in-1 is nice. Love the touch screen. Battery is good and it's slim/sleek design. It's about 5 years old and starting to fade + the screen cracked, etc. I bought a Asus ZenBook Flip 15 a few days ago. I like it mostly. Graphics are way nicer, 2-in-1 is smoother, but the battery is not great, it's big and heavy, and only has 8GB of storage which is not upgradeable. I'm wondering if there's something similar out there that might be better while I can still return it. I upload/edit YouTube videos. Hoping to get into streaming and more gaming.

    Thanks!!

    The Form

Less than 15 inches, 15 is a bit big already
