Girlfriend needs a new laptop for university Posted: 03 Oct 2021 06:31 AM PDT So the budget is 800€ and I was thinking about refurbished HP Zbook 15 G3 (Intel Core i7-6820HQ 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, nVidia Quadro M2000M 4GB) which I can get for her for like 610€ in top shape as she doesnt need to game on it but I still want it to be future proof and even if it has i7 of 6th gen it still looks to me as a great laptop in its price range. Would you suggest anything else or is it a good choice? P.S. As you guys probably already know, it has to be good looking laptop, you know women... [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:54 PM PDT I'm looking for a cooling pad for my Acer Nitro 5 under 40 pounds. I'm worried about getting a cooling pad with the fans in the wrong place as most of the cooling pads I've seen have one central fan or smaller ones near the bottom. My actual laptop fans are on the top. I also don't mind noise that much. Any advice would be apreciated. [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:44 PM PDT Hello, I just started studying engineering and I need some advice about which laptop to buy. I know that programs that I will have to use are very demanding (3d modeling, programming...) so I don't really know which is the best laptop for me. I al don't want it to be a gaming laptop because I prefer minimalists looking laptops with thin bezels. Got any advice? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2021 01:18 PM PDT Im in 8th grade currently. I've never had my own laptop- I'm the eldest but rather my younger siblings getting hand-me-downs, I've instead gotten them all my life. My mom finally decided to stick up for me and get a laptop. She is willing to drop a lot of money on a laptop for me, anything below 2k, as it will last me through at least half of high school. My dad reccomended Asus Zephyrus g14 for me. He said it was portable, could handle games, and was good for work, too. I'm not too focused on gameplay, I'm a serious student and an aspiring future neurosurgeon. I mostly play mobile games but on pc I mostly play Minecraft. I've been playing it for a long time, and I still enjoy it. He also said the G15 was a viable option. Again, I'm not too focused on games. On the other hand, I've been thinking about macbooks also. The macbooks with the new M1 chip are pretty hot, but I've thought about waiting a couple weeks for the M1X to come out. To sum up, should I opt for Asus Zephyrus G14/G15, or wait for the Macbook M1X to come out? Maybe there's something entirely different I should be thinking about? What do you guys think? Straightforward and on-topic answers are appreciated :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 05:44 AM PDT My current Lenovo laptop is literally falling apart and I'm planning to purchase a new Laptop. I'm going to be buying an Acer ConceptD 3. Specifically the on with a Geforce 1650 TI and 16GB ram. Now this laptop has 2 Ram slots and I'd like to upgrade it to 32 immediately. Yes 16gb should be fine, but I'd like to be a bit future proof. Especially since I'm planning to run some heavy programs for digital art. The only thing is, I CANNOT seem To find what kind of Ram goes in it. It's only ever mentioned as ddr4. But never pin size. I'm hoping someone here can shed a light? Tl:dr what ram should I buy to upgrade a Acer ConceptD 3 [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2021 12:37 PM PDT Hi! I saw this laptop at office max on sale for $529. https://www.officedepot.com/catalog/catalogSku.do?id=7961437&pr=&customerEnteredSku=7961437&cm_cat=1462026 It's a Asus vivobook 15-1135G7 with 16gb ram. Those sound like great specs (to me at least, I do pretty basic work, no gaming or anything) I keep second guessing the purchase after reading reviews online. Basically I just wanna know is the asus is worth it or not. I currently have a Lenovo ideapad3 with an i3-6100u and 4gb ram and it's been fine for my use, but I want an upgrade [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Oct 2021 12:27 PM PDT Working+studying as a data scientist and have a windows laptop for work but it's plagued with firewalls and installation blocks so need my own laptop for a course I'm currently doing Need some help figuring out what laptop to get. Mostly using sql, mongoDB, hadoop, occ. some graph/time seriesDBs and python (I just use anaconda and stick mostly to jupyter notebooks or spyder) I've always been in the school of thought that macs were overpriced for what you get (in terms of hardware). But I'm also sick of buying cheapo plastic windows laptops that crap themselves after a couple of years I'm not going to get an m1 chip right now, too many stories of software not running (at least without headaches) So it's either mid-price windows (may or may not wipe it and put some linux distro on it) or a mac book pro (2019 version) Budget £1500 but probably less not going for a Mac. My last 'laptop' was a Chromebook that I sideloaded Linux on so spending this much on a laptop feels insane though my Chromebook idea was basically a waste of plastic and rare earth metals so idk Any advice is appreciated [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Oct 2021 04:13 AM PDT I am looking to replace ram in my laptop (Lenovo ideapad L340 15 IRH gaming i think) to upgrade it from 8 to 16 gb. The manufacturer suggests a SoDIMM 16 Gb DDR4 2666 MT/s one, but i also saw a 3200 MT/s one. Should the faster one work okay or not? The sockets are the same, i am just afraid that the pcb won't fit, because the latter looks bigger or are the pcb sizes all equal? [link] [comments]
