How do I access all apps on android 12? Please help, this makes no sense

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 04:06 PM PDT

I just got the android 12 update on my pixel 3 and simply swiping up no longer works

When I swipe up it goes to the active app switcher.

If I swipe up rapidly sometimes some weird 'thumb button' shows up, and I have to quickly swipe up on that. Currently it makes no sense to me, I have to constantly swipe up a whole bunch of times until I get lucky.

Someone please explain this to an older gentleman! What is the most simple way to get to the all apps launcher?

    Solved: Sorta

So apparently I can swipe up to get all my apps, if I swipe on a blank area of the desktop, but swiping up on the navigation bar at the bottom will no longer open them?

How do I get to the app launcher without having to go to my desktop first? This sucks

All apps connected to Google crash. HELP!!

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 09:38 PM PDT

Please help. I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Android version 10. Been happening for about 5 hours now since I woke up today. Phone and apps were fine before I went to sleep last night.

All Google Play apps (Play store, Gmail, map etc) do not load. Stuck at loading page for a couple minutes, then when it finally enters, the whole app crashes/not responding. I use Google keyboard as my default keyboard, the keyboard also drop down suddenly as I was typing and come back up after a while.

My other apps/games connected to my Google account (including Reddit app) also take a couple minuted to load, only to crash/not responding afterwards. For some apps, the app graphic and audio are working, but I am unable to click on anything. For others, the whole app crashes and return to my home screen.

I have restarted my phone, cleared memory, cache but still would not work. My other apps not connected to Google (default Samsung apps, Facebook, Whatsapp, Wechat etc) seems to be working fine.

In my settings, I am able to click on any settings except the Google settings; clicking it does not load anything. After clicking on the Google settings, everything else I click seems to take some time to load and laggy.

I can still use Google search engine in my Samsung Internet app.

Only the apps in my phone are affected. I can still access Gmail and Reddit via my PC. My friend's Android devices can also access Google-related apps.

Help with Google Play Store repeatedly reopening itself

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 09:14 PM PDT

I've been dealing with a serious issue on my phone regarding the Google App Store.

Specifically, whenever I try to open the Google Play Store, it starts repeatedly reopening itself every few seconds; I see the opening logo and then am back on the main page. It also reopens even if I close the store and go to another app; usually I can only stop it by restarting the phone. This makes it impossible to use the Play Store, which has been causing issues by making it impossible to update apps.

It also only seems to happen some of the time; some days, I can use the store just fine.

I have an LM-X320CM (LG Escape Plus 32GB) on the most recent software version. It's been happening for a while, and I've tried clearing the Play Store's cache and data a couple times, but it doesn't help. Any idea of what's gone wrong and how to fix it?

Just switched from Oneplus to the S21, how to customize navigation bar?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:51 PM PDT

I'm one of those people who prefer the the navigation bar over gestures. One my Oneplus I was able to customize the nav bar further with long holds or multiple taps. I don't like using the physical lock button. On my Oneplus I could set it up where a double tab on the home button would lock the screen. I know you can enable double tap to lock but that only works on the lock and home screen. Anyone how to do this, via 3rd party app? Thank you.

    IOS Chrome on Android?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:49 PM PDT

Hi. I just last week switch from IOS to Android for the first time on a Pixel 5a. I used Chrome on my iPhone and loved it way more than Safari. I was disappointed however when the Android Chrome had a drastically different layout than IOS. I know Android has way more download options that IOS would normally restrict. So my question is: Is there anyway to download and use the IOS version of Chrome on an Android device? (And how?)

Only Able to Type Numbers with Apple Bluetooth Magic Keyboard

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:44 PM PDT

I have a bluetooth Apple Magic Keyboard, here's a visual https://imgur.com/er6JEUy. I'm able to pair and consistently connect to Android 12. I can also select "English (US)" as the keyboard layout (screenshot here https://imgur.com/OlQ1z2w ). However, when typing I can only get Android to recognize numbers and some other random keys. Below are some examples:

    • qwertyasdfghzxcvbn all do nothing
    • 123456 all do nothing
    • 7890- type out on Android as 789/=
    • uiop type out on Android as 456*
    • jkl; type out on Android as 123-
    • m,./ type out on Android as 0nothing.+
    • Some of the function keys do things too like F11 and F12 increase/decrease volume. F8 plays/pauses media etc.

I've tried forgetting the keyboard and re-pairing it several times. I've restarted the phone multiple times.

Forgetting the bluetooth keyboard on Android phone and connecting it to my MacBook Air it works great. But then forget it on MacBook air, re-pair to Android and the same issue happens.

A part of me wonders if a num lock mode is somehow stuck but on the MacBook Air it works fine. I'm getting crazy trying to figure this out lol so any ideas are welcome!

I have multiple chargers. How can I tell which charges my phone the fastest without staring at it for hours?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:40 PM PDT

I have a pixel 6 pro and it doesn't come with a charger. I have some USB type C chargers laying around and I'm not sure if any of them charge it at the proper speed.

I believe my phone accepts up to 15 watts but none of these chargers list their wattage.

Forgive me, I'm not familiar with the science of electrical energy.

I'm not sure if I should buy a charger or if these are the best I'm going to get.

Been searching for months with no decision on what phone to get

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:29 PM PDT

Hi, I am searching for a new phone and have had great difficulty finding one that suits me. Please help!

    Location: Australia

Budget: Under 600, preferred around 200.

My old phone: Previously I've had sony phones and been very happy with them. I've got one that's 5 years old now and still runs as good as it used to, but through my neglegence it has gotten a bit sad (quite sad). Its size was 14cm/5.5 inches, screen size 11.5/4.7 inches.

What I want the new phone to be:

    - secure

    - android

    - lasts a long time (battery & phone lifetime)

    - small sized (no larger than 6 inches pls)

    - easily replacable parts

    - not samsung (been burnt too many times by them)

What I use my phone for:

    - looking up things online

    - taking notes using things such as onenote/googledrive

    - taking photos (don't care that much about quality)

    - then having them uploaded to onenote/google drive

    - voice recording

(Honestly that's it. I don't use my phone for much, nor do I want to.)

    I'd prefer not to have:

    - A finger print scanner

    - Other things like that

    - a phone that is wasteful (eg. lots of plastic, badly sourced materials... I'm happy for price to go up to satisfy this)

Conclusion: I've looked at a whole bunch of phones and just can't make my mind up. I've even looked at bricks. Anyway, my big problems are

    - the screen size

    - cost vs how much I'd actually use it

    - just in general being confused by the phone industry.

AccuBattery working on A12 for anyone?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 07:56 PM PDT

Been using AccuBattery for a while now with great results. After updating to Android 12 it has stopped working. If I open the app, it shows my percentage and all the immediate info, but doesn't show charge/use history. It all stops on the date I updated the OS.

Anyone else have this issue? I've checked the Play Store and it seems it's up to date.

    Bubbles Keyboard

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 07:48 PM PDT

Hey, Has anyone noticed that when opening any bubble (messenger, messages, etc), the keyboard doesn't appear? Android 11 made the bubbles so bad, Android 12 has made them unusable. Any help or fix would be great. Thanks

Is it possible to have my Android forward phone calls to a landline if the call is missed?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 01:40 PM PDT

I live in an area with spotty cell reception and use my Android phone for work calls. Unfortunately often times people call and I miss it because -no service-.

Can I set it up so people ring my cellphone and if it is missed they get forwarded to my landline? I would just use my landline as my primary phone # but need to get phone calls when I am on jobsites

    Gboard text magnification when typing.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 03:48 PM PDT

Is there a way to go back to the older Gboard pop up on keypress (display of the text feedback bubbles when you type)? When you press a letter there is an enlarged circular preview of the letter that you are about to type. Before it was a small square that would pop up and take up less space over the keyboard. I know that you can disable the text preview when typing but I'd prefer to go back to the square instead of the large circles that take up a good chunk of the keyboard.

Discord no longer launching on S7 Active?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 07:30 PM PDT

So earlier this week, Discord stopped working on my S7 Active. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and get the same thing.

I go to launch the app, the big logo screen will pop up for a few seconds, then the screen will go white, and then I'll get a popup that said "Discord has stopped."

    Any idea what's going on?

Almost all apps on my Samsung Galaxy S21 are crashing once they are launched.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 03:22 PM PDT

I have a Samsung Galasy S21 from T-mobile/Sprint. For the last few days, pretty much any app I try and open up just freezes and closes after a few seconds. Sometimes it just sits on a blank screen and then says it is not responding. I also have not received any notifications since this started. Has anyone seen this before?

I've tried restarting the phone multiple times.

Phone suddenly cant use data for internet.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 03:20 PM PDT

I have a note 20 ultra on straight talk. About 3 days ago suddenly my phone decided to no longer be able to connect to the internet while on data. It will still make phone calls and text message though. After it happened I saw there was a update so I updated the phone and that did not work. I tried restarting multiple times too. Made sure there was no data limiter setting on too. when googled I saw a guide saying to try and reset the access point names tried it and nothing happened. I am suppose to have unlimited data. just gets slowed down after X amount of data. My last step would be factory defaulting it. Any ideas before I get to that point is appreciated.

    Permanently block phone number

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:51 PM PDT

Long story short there's someone my wife shouldn't be texting that she promises that she's not. She has a Galaxy S9 through TracFone & even though the phone number is blocked, for some stupid reason both Samsung messages and Google messages have this stupid feature that allows you to access all your text from block numbers conveniently tucked away in the option menu.

Is there any way I can get a phone number permanently blocked so that it doesn't even show up in the block numbers bin?

UI, font style, icon change ability?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:48 PM PDT

I have a few questions, please. I have a Google pixel 3xl, and now that I have updated to Android 12, I can't change the font style; only the size.

•Is there a way to change it? •Also, the lock screen, the information is left aligned. Is there a way to change it to center? •Is there a way to customize the icons?

I hate to complain but I am on my phone a lot and not a fan of these small changes. I appreciate the ability to change color theme, but I miss my custom icons at the top (wifi, Bluetooth, location, etc) it seems everything is back to default.

Bluetooth audio no longer available in work profile in Android 12?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 12:46 PM PDT

After upgrading to Android 12, apps in my work profile (Microsoft Teams) no longer see the connected Bluetooth audio device. Apps in my personal profile (Spotify) can still play audio through Bluetooth.

Did something change with how the work profile accesses Bluetooth in Android 12? I've gone through all system settings but can't find anything relevant.
