Posted: 28 Oct 2021 12:28 PM PDT Why would microsoft make windows 11? It's free and if you buy it new it costs the same, why not just keep updating and selling windows 10, it doesn't seem like there is more profit to be gained by windows 11 but I am not expert, that's why I ask reddit. For avid Show-Desktoppers, perhaps try Win+M and Win+Shift+M Posted: 28 Oct 2021 03:44 PM PDT Makes for a nicer animation in my view... although that might not matter to anybody else lol Also Win+Home minimises everything except the active window. I find it handy sometimes [link] [comments]

Does Windows 10/11 feel faster compared to MacOS? Posted: 28 Oct 2021 02:08 PM PDT I'm curious on how it "feels" / how "responsive" it is. For instance, click bottom right of screen, alt+tab to an opened folder, hold ctrl and drag a file to desktop, click file ctrl+c then ctrl+v 10 times, hold ctrl and box select files, drag them all together neatly real fast, right click new folder, drag all items into folder, click folder ctrl+d then empty recycle bin... I can do all that in like 5 seconds, everything is instant... on macOS is there delayed animations/snapping/ a feeling of simulation? Or is it as instant/fast as windows is in moving/dragging/dropping/ doing all the little tasks? [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Oct 2021 10:51 AM PDT Anyway to make it so when you X a web app it minimizes in the services mend (clock, wifi, and all that on opposite side). This would absolutely be an awesome addition if there is no way to do it now. Like your mail web app just launches and sits there. They have the start w/ Windows; but not the stay alive. Unless Microsoft is using the background web update to keep these closed apps updated which sucks as I generally turn all that off and like to pick and choose for myself? T [link] [comments]

You guys know any way to remotely access my PC using only with edge browser? Posted: 28 Oct 2021 09:41 AM PDT Hey everyone! I'll be staying with my dad for the next two weeks and I have some work to do on the PC. Problem is my laptop died two weeks ago and the only other PC on the house is the family PC which my mom and my brother also use, so I can't take it with me. I'm taking my Xbox series S with me and I was wondering if I can remotely access the family PC from my Xbox using edge browser. I know there are tons of android and iPhone apps that can do this, but I don't want to work from my phone, it would be so much easier if I can use my Xbox with mouse and keyboard. You guys know any software that allows me to work remotely using edge browser? [link] [comments]
DirectStorage - Will it work in any SSD, or it have to be where windows is installed ? Posted: 28 Oct 2021 02:10 AM PDT So guys, the DirectStorage.. it will only works if i have Windows + Games in the same SSD ? Or i can have Windows in one SSD Sata..(because i'm poor) And use the DirectStorage in another SSD NVME ? Because if possible i want the NVME to be games exclusive. I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bits, will upgrade to Windows 11 Pro 64 bits later. [link] [comments]
So for Enderman viewers, I have a question Posted: 28 Oct 2021 11:33 AM PDT If you have watched enderman before. You see when he restarts any installation of Windows 10, theres those "Starting services" or "shutting down internal server" or whatever. How do I get that? [link] [comments]
Is it true that Windows will be moving away from using fractional scaling in its OS? Posted: 28 Oct 2021 10:14 AM PDT MacOS, and some versions of Linux, use only integer scaling to change the scale of elements on the screen, and they use downscaling to get the in-between scaling. Someone recently told me that Windows is moving in this direction as well. Is this true? [link] [comments]
Bluetooth speaker keep going on mute every 10 mins on Windows 11 Posted: 28 Oct 2021 05:40 AM PDT My bluetooth speaker (harman kardon Aura) has no issue previously before upgrading to windows 11, my PC is using TP-link bluetooth dongle which has been working fine for the past year. This week I suddenly realise that every 10-15 minutes my speaker goes on mute and there's no way to fix it except to reconnect the speaker. Then every 10-15 minutes it goes on mute again (windows doesn't transmit any sound at all). Also to note, it starts acting up when I started meeeting in Teams Has anyone ever experience this? Apparently there has been similar issue here!!! [link] [comments]

If I update my windows 10 to windows 11 then what happens to my windows 10 system folder? Posted: 28 Oct 2021 09:05 AM PDT If I update my windows 10 to windows 11 then what happens to my windows 10 system folder? I'm concerned about the disk space and the system reliability. I'm using official licensed windows 10 and got an update for windows 11 It's currently stuck at 100% installing I'm curious what happens to my C drive disk space? Is it possible to delete windows 10 once I'm updated to windows 11? Can I run the games which are installed in windows 10 such as CSGO and FIFA 19 [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:26 AM PDT In November 2018, Microsoft announced new icons for its Office suite of applications, originally only 10 applications were announced they were gonna get the change (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, SharePoint, Yammer, OneDrive and Skype) but more apps quickly got the new logo as well. Then in March 2020 they announced that new icons were gonna appear for Windows 10, only a handful of them appeared at first (including Mail, Calendar, Maps, Clock, Camera, Groove Music, Films and TV which would change AGAIN in June) but if you had the latest Insider builds you'd have all the new icons. But then more and more of them arrived but there were some that never got it (including Settings, Microsoft Defender, Windows DVD Player and Xbox related applications) and still today, they never got the new icons, even in 21H2. Then in March 2021 they announced that File Explorer is getting new icons as well, assuming you're in the latest Dev build, I got them using a special method but even with that, if a folder had stuff in if, it'd still use the old icon. Now Windows 11 was announced and it got the entire new iconography, while Windows 10 still had some old icons be old icons, for some reason, and now I have an inconsistent start menu, inconsistent desktop with some folders having the new icons and some others having the old ones, I could go on buy we'd be here all day. Like why the hell would they start a rollout of something new but then just never finish it? What's the point of a rollout in this case? Let's argue in the comments. [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:07 AM PDT I first had trouble with the update because of the TPM stuff. That is all resolved and the two apps say my pc qualifies, however the update page in settings says I'm not and does not say why. [link] [comments]

Forgot PC's windows 10 password Posted: 28 Oct 2021 12:38 AM PDT Hey guys! I was wondering if it'd possible to open my pc without loosing all my files even if I forgot my password. Could I do it by myself or should I take it people that know how to handle these cases? Any opinions? [link] [comments]
Is Microsoft making older versions of Windows unusable? Spinning boot disks are not glacial. Posted: 27 Oct 2021 05:53 PM PDT This is nothing new. Years ago I had several old console machines running Windows 7. They had no job but provide a browser and serial port. To be clear, these were old Dell Pentium-D systems with maxed memory (2GB), but they were working fine for the simple tasks they were used for. Until they weren't. One day I tried to open firefox and 20 min later the disk was grinding and Firefox still was not up. I power-cycled and everything was glacially slow. It took a while to find what was wrong, Microsoft had backported telemetry to Windows 7 and it was taking all the cycles the Pentium-D and the old slow SATA 1.5 Gb disk could provide. I eventually got the machines working again after disabling telemetry and a few other things (including updates as that was what borked the machine), but I decided to move to Linux after that, it has minicom and Firefox and worked fine with the old system. Then there was the problem with the several Windows 10 computers in use at home. They would be stuck at 100% disk usage and be literally unusable. These were 7th or 8th generation i5's with 12-16GB memory and most had SSD drives. Updating the one spinning disk to an SSD helped, but it was still very slow. I thought it was a Windows update issue so I disabled that and tried every other suggestion out there for 100% disk usage but nothing worked. Finally my son's newly built game machine became unusable, so I wiped the disk clean with 'dd', downloaded the latest Win10 to a USB drive and rebuilt the machine, it's worked fine ever since. So I updated all the laptops and that issue was fixed. I still don't know what the problem was here. Then my work laptop became unusable for 20-40 minutes after boot, I could not get any work done. It's running Win 8.1 and it had worked fine for a long time. I checked the resources used after boot and all it was doing after I logged in was loading skype and jabber, no viruses or other problems I could find. So I found an SSD of the same size as the spinning disk and copied the system over. Now it works fine. The thing is, spinning boot disks today seem glacial, but spinning data disks work fine. Synthetic disk benchmarks show expected results for the boot disk, it's only the OS that's affected. I've been using Windows since 3.1, but lately it's become a headache. [link] [comments]
Green screen of death on Windows 11. Posted: 27 Oct 2021 11:08 PM PDT Hey everyone, idk how many people have experienced this yet. Today I was on my laptop when all of a sudden I got the "Blue Screen of death" Now green screen. This was due to some sort of issue with a driver on a laptop that hasn't been used for awhile. Anyways. Have anyone ever experienced then on Windows 11? I found it weird. I guess Microsoft got tired of the Blue Screen and wanted to change it up. [link] [comments] |
