"AAA" Long-Play Games that Don't Require Internet?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 01:01 PM PDT

I have a flight coming up and am looking for a game or two for my Tab S7. I'll have my PS4 controller with me, and don't mind paying a bit. Mainly don't have to worry about having to authenticate the game via internet when launching and playing

Games I already have ready to go:

    • GTA:SA

    • Civ 6 (although I think this requires a connection to launch)

    • Stardew Valley

    • OpenMicroWave (haven't set it up yet though)

Any suggestions and genres would be appreciated!

Tales of the Black Death - France. [Free weekend]

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 04:41 AM PDT

Alright this is a long shot but it's my last hope. I played this game all the time in 2016 and I have this screenshot, but I can't for the life of me remember what the game is called. Please help if you know what game this is. Sorry I don't have a lot of details lol

    Avabel 'classic' is so horrible

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 10:13 PM PDT

I need to get this off my chest so i'm making a post about it here. I heard from this subreddit a while ago that Asobimo was releasing Avabel Classic in late October (it was released today). I loved playing the old Avabel so I was excited for this.
Their pre-registration website said they were bringing back the old Avabel from years ago... This Avabel 'Classic' game doesn't even remind me of the old Avabel players used to love. Problems below:
    1. They didn't bring back the old creator class
    2. You can't buy any potions from NPCs
    3. They didn't bring back Job exp
    4. Weapons and armours don't even drop from monsters you kill, so players have been stuck with their basic gear since starting
    5. The old skill system didn't even come back, they still have that new thing they have
    6. They didn't bring back multiple channels, they have one channel for all players so everyone is stealing kills from each other with the limited number of monsters on the map.

TLDR: Asobimo falsely advertised, Avabel Classic is more like Avabel Remastered

Arcade / strategy / level system game without ads

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 01:06 PM PDT

I need a game like the title says. An arcade-style strategy game with leveling system, and NO ads (just too tired of them). The problem is, most of the strategy games dont have levels but a "pernament world"... And mobile games pretty rarely dont have ads. Which game would you suggest?

Base building / Crafting / Survival Game without PVP

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 03:21 PM PDT

Hey guys, as the title says I'm looking for one of those games where you have various maps to explore and gather stuff, you have your own base/shelter/camp to build, you craft stuff and progress through the game. However I'm looking for one without PVP, or at least a way to flag yourself as a non PVP player.
Really not in the mood to invest who knows who much of my time into crafting and building only to have some dipsh*t stroll into my base and break all my stuff and steal all my junk.

I know, I'm a little b*tch and all that, so, anyone know a game like this?

Offline Games that you can unlock everything even without IAP?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 10:57 PM PDT

I need suggestions like the title says. Most IAPs provide you advantages absolutely unobtainable in regular play (e.g. bldgs unpurchasable in city sims unless you purchase it with actual money ). The amount of time needed to grind isn't an issue, as long as gameplay and mechanics are good I have a lot of time to kill. Preferably offline because I have intermittent internet for the next month or two. Genres I appreciate are strategy and rpg. Maybe even Action too especially with good graphics.

Games where you can play as God or a Magician.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:26 AM PDT

I'd want to see a game where you can play as a mage or a deity.

    Mage:

You can become a strong or weak mage, and you can perform magic. I don't want games that are excessively high-quality or laggy; instead, I want something basic, like a 2D game or a 3D game that is still simple. I'm looking for a game that isn't too challenging, but is still an action or adventure open-world game. I also want it to be a stand-alone application.

    Deity:

I'd want something along the lines of Scribblenauts or a game where you can summon nearly anything. You may build cities or villages, people or elves, and you can even become a human-like god who lives in communities. I'm looking for something comparable to the other: a 2D or 3D easy open-world game, etc.

What was the most engaging and interesting game you played story wise

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 08:29 AM PDT

I mean interesting script /story which fully sucks you into game, no matter which genre or even with flawed mechanics.

Might be adventure or RPG but genre is not important.

Most games nowadays engage player through grind, gathering or crafting, but I'm looking for a good story. I believe there are some gems hidden among heaps of garbage.

    Give me your favorites.

Anyone know what this game is called?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2021 06:14 AM PDT

I forgot about this one game from around 2016 to 2017, anyone know what the title is? It had a pixel art of a beer on the cover and it was kinda like a roguelike and it had a side view. Please put the name of the game in the comments if it was found or on any tips on how I get the title.

Looking for games w/ character creators

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 10:40 PM PDT

Hello! I'm looking for games that have character creators --- preferably MMOs, particularly if they're anime-inspired, but as long as they're not straight-up dollmakers or dress-up games I'm not picky. My only three requirements are:

    • Must be free-to-play.
    • No gender-/race-locked classes
    • Must be able to make a character with dark skin

I'm playing Dragon Raja right now, and I've played Alchemia Story and hated it. Anything else ya'll can rec is appreciated.

    Are general threads allowed here?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 01:19 PM PDT

I'm asking because i want to write down every good/playable game i had ever played since from my childhood and share it here.

I really hate it that mobile games are mostly designed to trick kids into playing shitty games. I literally do not see one good game while browsing categories ,except for the most famous good games, they are all very badly designed, kid games that's only purpose is to play ads per every 30 seconds.

I definitely played some good and unknown/less known mobile games that are definitely very fun and actually designed to be a game. By sharing my list i'll also be looking to get some feedback and discover some games.

    [REQUEST] Games similar to Slidey

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 10:25 AM PDT

My girlfriend is semi-addicted to a puzzle game called Slidey but it's riddled with very obtrusive ads.

I'd love to be able to recommend something to her that's similar but won't be riddled with crazy ads.

    Complexity and Depth

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 10:08 PM PDT

When I saw mobile games start to take off I got really excited about the possibility of a new DOS style frontier for the low-budget, high content, hyper niche, nerd out games. Unfortunately all it takes is about two minutes of browsing the play store to make me feel like computers were a mistake. It's a wanton mess of shameless garbage. I thought I would come here instead of trying to pick through the rubbish heap yet again to see if you all would be able offer some suggestions. I know someone somewhere has to be making the dwarf fortress of mobile games and I want to know what it is. Show me that giant uncut diamond.

Really the only mobile game I've played so far that's scratched this particular itch has been King of Dragon Pass, but I feel like that's cheating. Before you say CDDA, yes it's one of my all time favorites on PC but it's borderline unplayable on mobile. The same thing can be said to a lesser degree about the various Nethacks and stone soups. Baldurs gate is also very good, as well as all of the Beamdog crpg remasters, but I've played them to death and they're cramped as hell on mobile.

Games that can be played in short bursts with lots of stuff to collect

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 07:15 PM PDT

I've been looking for games to play on and off when I have time during work. I prefer idle games or games that can be played in short bursts. I'm not super into gacha but I love games with lots of different things to unlock like characters or classes. Any suggestions?
