Cheap lightweight laptop to run Dawn of War Dark Crusade and Black Ops 1 Zombies Posted: 30 Oct 2021 02:08 AM PDT Hi, I don't want to break the bank as they are very old games with what should be low requirements, but being lightweight is a must. I've attached the links for the Steam page of each game containing the requirements. Thanks [link] [comments]
Basic laptop. Web browsing & pack office. France. Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:25 AM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
Are you open to refurbs/used?
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I've found a few laptops that are being sold here, if you can tell me if those are good options? Sorry it's in French but I guess you can understand the specs. Or if you have suggestions for alternatives? https://m.boulanger.com/ref/1155397 https://m.boulanger.com/ref/1158920 Thanks a lot! [link] [comments]
Gaming Laptop MacBook equivalent Posted: 29 Oct 2021 08:57 PM PDT I was planning on buying a new MacBook Pro. And I still might. But also maybe I should get a gaming laptop instead? I have a desktop with a 980ti with an i7 6700k. I'd love something that could potentially replace this thing and get it out of my living room. That's the benchmark I'm comparing things against. I'd like to use the machine to play AAA games on my TV, like it's a console. Ideally at 2K'ish and steady 60fps, now and for at least a few years. I'd bd playing stuff like new Guardians or Psychonauts 2, but on a tv. I don't really need the gaming to go past 60hz, though I'd probably like a screen with 144hz or whatever for day to day use. I'm largely goofing around with indie games. But when a AAA game I like comes out I want to be able to handle it like I have a console. I'm basically looking for best gaming laptop that checks these boxes: - is a reliable machine backed by good customer service - won't feel like a jet engine if I play civ 6 on my lap - doesn't look like some Las Vegas ufo clown rave. I would need this to pass for a normal perosns laptop sometimes. - I don't care if it has a webcam How close to this does $2000 get me? What about $3000? [link] [comments]
Ryzen 7 5800H(iGPU) VS Ryzen 7 5800HS(MX450) Posted: 30 Oct 2021 03:22 AM PDT Hi, I have been looking at the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Pro, but would definitely appreciate any suggestions with regards to the model I should get. The new laptop will mainly be used for programming (CS major) in college --- IDEs (VS, RStudio etc.), multiple browsers/tabs and may try Linux in the future. Assuming I'd require:
Then I'd have 2 options. They are both 2.8K OLED 400nits, with lower prices for a 2.8K, IPS, Glare 400nits.
Generally no preference over AMD or Intel, but it seems like Ryzen 7 is an overall performer compared to the single-core winner i7. Is 5800H or 5800HS along with mx450 an overkill? Which would you choose? Otherwise, are there any value and performance-worthy laptops you'd prefer? Have only used macOS all my life. Hence migrating from an i5 MacBook Pro as I need exposure to different OS, and prefer Visual Studio over Xcode for C++ due to a module in school. No monitor so the lack of thunderbolt and 60Hz for display aren't too much a concern for me currently. Hope to have the laptop last at least 5 years from now, if possible. Thank you! Legion 5 r7 5800h and rtx 3060 (16gb/512ssd) or m1 13inch macbook pro (16gb/256ssd) ? Posted: 30 Oct 2021 01:32 AM PDT Hi, ill be using the laptop for graphic design (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) and maybe video editing/animation, ill use it mainly indoors so battery/portability won't matter that match, Im really considering getting the legion because i might play some games on it but im worried about the screen/color accuracy (the macbook one has a better one but smaller 13") and i want it to last at least 5 years so i think macbooks last more idk Which one should i get ? Honest thoughts and opinions on these 3 laptops? On a budget and need a laptop for autocad 2d Posted: 30 Oct 2021 12:54 AM PDT https://www.amazon.ae/HP-15s-eq2001ne-processor-Integrated-384S8EA/dp/B09476MRTZ/ https://www.amazon.ae/Lenovo-IdeaPad-81W4000AUS-Processor-Graphics/dp/B08F6VXDZJ/ https://www.amazon.ae/HP-Flagship-15-6-Anti-Glare-Bluetooth/dp/B09HY458SW/ So the first one is 200aed more expensive for 250gb ssd. Is it worth it or can i get away with the cheaper ones as im on budget? The second and third have the same price but the 2nd has r5 4500 and 3rd has r5 5500. I feel like both will work for my needs so which one is a 'better laptop' from these? (Build quality, upgradability, etc) My use is only ms office, excel and autocad 2d. Ill probably not use 3d stuff. No gaming If, besides these you see a better laptop, let me know [link] [comments]

Since I'm waiting for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to get my laptop, I'm shopping locally for a used laptop to use in the meantime. Was wondering if any of these stood out as being a really good deal? I need a really budget laptop for studying Posted: 29 Oct 2021 09:33 AM PDT I already have a gaming PC but I need a good laptop to open a lot of tabs, maybe a i3 or r3, no CPU intensive tasks or gaming. Just a lot of ram or slot for me to install another ram to open many tabs word, power point etc. Big screen to read articles and write and optionally light weight to carry it around. Posted: 29 Oct 2021 10:55 PM PDT Hey guys! So... Right now I have a truly horrible laptop. It's a laptop from before quad cores were really a thing. Obama had been president for a year or two. Different times. This beast has FOUR gigs of RAM, DUAL CORE ACTION, and a sweet HDD. Windows 7! Woo! Also it crashes randomly. It's been fun. So now I'm looking for something in the 400-650 range. The main use is programming. Or learning to program. I know most any laptop can do some basic Hello World stuff. Obviously. But I plan on truly committing to learning programming. I live in a tech hub, and plan on getting into the field within a year or two (I've done work similar to programming, but in a weird kind of skewed real-world way, so I feel confident in it so far). Basically when I start compiling things, I will probably need a decent CPU. I'm honestly not sure how much RAM comes into play for it. And of course, I'd like an SSD. I plan on making apps to practice mostly. I might make very simple games, but nothing that isn't beyond GM:S creations. I should note that I DON'T intend to play games on the laptop. Especially not 3D games. If something comes with a decent build in graphics section, cool. But absolutely not the main thing I'm looking at. I would rather have a much better CPU and build quality. Would love a Ryzen six core, but I know it's a stretch probably. 15 or 15.6 inch is probably best. If you know of any good ideas, I'd love to hear! I'm not opposed to getting something used as I can put an SSD and RAM in myself, but that's only if it's a really good build with a good screen and exceptional CPU. Thanks so much! Posted: 29 Oct 2021 06:07 PM PDT I need a laptop for studying, watching YouTube and Netflix, light gaming (Minecraft, Chess...) I don't need anything hard-core. A nice display and smooth design would be great. I had an HP from 2017 that I'm still using but it's not doing well at all right now. I would like a laptop that can last me atleast 2-3 years. Thank you in advance :) [link] [comments]

Need help finding a portable gaming rig under $3500 Posted: 29 Oct 2021 10:38 AM PDT I'll preface this by saying a normal laptop probably wont be the best device for my situation but I'm still open to it. I'm probably more looking for a portable All-in-1 or a gaming-oriented 2-in-1with an eGPU (if that's even an option). Ideally, I'd get an ROG Mothership but the value isn't quite there. https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-series/rog-mothership-gz700-series/

Laptop for streaming work desktop to Posted: 29 Oct 2021 04:26 PM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Trying to keep it under $300-500 USD Are you open to refurbs/used? I'm not entirely opposed, consider I would likely just sell it afterwards How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I would prefer to have performance first, then I guess build quality and battery life. I'm not expecting to use it unplugged How important is weight and thinness to you? Decently important but not critical Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. At least 14" Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I don't plan on using it for literally anything other than connecting to VM Blast to stream my work desktop's screen to this laptop and work off of. Basically AFAIK all I need is a good network card. It's impossible to google for this because everything just assumes I'm trying to stream my screen to twitch. I just want to stream my other computer to this hypothetical laptop. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Won't need to game at all, just stream and interact with that virtual desktop. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? decent keyboard and a way for me to connect a second monitor Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Appreciate any advice, I guess I was either looking at an Aspire 5 or a mini desktop pc if I can find one cheap enough. Literally just want something I can stream video to that won't shit the bed network wise. I need to be able to interact with my work pc which means it receiving and sending data competently. Otherwise want to keep it as cheap as possible because I only plan on using it for a month. Thanks! [link] [comments]

For College Engineering Student Posted: 29 Oct 2021 02:09 PM PDT I am going into engineering as my major and have no idea what I may need. I was suggested going red with AMD for the multi tasking abilities. Also I'd like the ray tracing that Nvidia cards offer.
~3500
No
In order of importance: Build quality Performance Battery Form factor
16+ my eyesight is terrible and it would be nice to see what I'm modeling
I'll hopefully be doing everything on this list. Solid Works Photoshop Adobe platforms Etc.
Not a priority in comparison to school work, but I'd like to play EA titles at 140 fps consistently
IPS panel 1440p Decently color accurate HDMI Ethernet Having a nice keyboard/trackpad would be nice but not a priority
I'd prefer it to be low profile but when asking for higher specs I know it's hard to find something not flashy which is why I have come for assistance [link] [comments]
