What is actual default TWRP password? Posted: 28 Sep 2021 05:43 PM PDT as in question. I flashed TWRP to install lineageOS on xiaomi redmi note 8t, but it encrypted my files with a password. "default_password" and "password" doesn't work. adb shell see decrypted files. I use TWRP 3.5.2 [link] [comments] |
There's an app called "Factory Test App" and I can't remove it Posted: 28 Sep 2021 02:29 PM PDT I'm using Android 10, in the "apps" section there's an app called "com.pri.factorytest.FactoryTestApplication", it got access to every single thing such as the camera, mic, location, call records, etc. The "disable" is grayed out and I can't remove it in any way. There's apps that can remove the "system apps" but they require root access. Is that a virus? I also used many antivirus but they don't seem be doing anything about that app. [link] [comments] |
Could someone briefly/simply explain to me how "free" phone offers actually work? Posted: 28 Sep 2021 08:05 AM PDT Hey guys, So I've been buying phones outright , unlocked, and off contract for like 10 years at this point because it was my understanding that if you buy a phone from a carrier, it will still end up costing you money even though they may tell you that you get a free phone when you sign up for a new 2 year agreement. But honestly I'm a bit confused... I've got a friend and some relatives who are always getting "free" phones when they upgrade and I tell them "you know you still end up paying for it in the end" because that's what everyone's told me, but when I try to actually wrap my head around the concept, I have a hard time.... So its my understanding that when you buy a phone off-contract and sign up for a phone plan month-to-month, you're paying for ONLY the phone service and nothing else. But when you get a "free" phone , you're required to agree to a 2-year commitment with that carrier , and the phone is put on an installment payment plant in which you receive a bill credit each month for the value of the installment. Leave the plan early and you pay an ETF and also have to pay off the phone itself. But where's the "you still end up paying for the phone in the end" part of this? Do on-contract phone plans cost more than month-to-month? If I've been on the same provider for 20 years and have no plans to switch , would it really matter that I'm "stuck" in a 2 year agreement with them if I didn't plan to leave anyway? I seem to remember something like an "access fee" of 25 dollars a month or something that ATT used to have which they'd remove if you brought your own phone, but I don't know if they do that anymore or if its something other networks do? I just want to make sure that buying my phones outright is still the smartest financial move here... [link] [comments] |
Can you tell me if My Galaxy Note5 SM-N920I is downgradeable from Nougat to Lollipop via odin? Posted: 28 Sep 2021 06:19 PM PDT I really want to downgrade from Nougat and I don't like Marshmellow either, so I want the stock Lollipop back. I have the firmware for my model # and CSC downloaded, which is N920IOLC2AOJ3. I was going to follow a guide carefully to attempt this downgrade, but I noticed some people with the Verizon variant SM-N920V were having issues if it had received updates after a certain point. But mine is not the Verizon, it is the international GSM unlocked. Being that mine is fully up to date (no more updates to be had) but is a different variant, the N920I (international version) do you think it's worth a try, or simply too late, no way to go back? Correct me if I am wrong, but if I try it, and it does fail, I can just re-flash the latest Nougat back on it, right? Or am I just risking to permanently brick it by even trying this? Post-Installation App Permissions Posted: 28 Sep 2021 10:02 PM PDT Hello, probably just some confusion on my part, but I have a question based off of what I've noticed with Android apps' permissions. On their page, whether it be on F-droid or google play, it lists the numerous permissions the app requires. However, once I install an app, it may ask me if I allow it to take pictures and record video. Does this mean that I didn't actually grant all such permissions listed on the app's page upon installation? Or do only some permissions require additional permission/notice like access to camera and storage? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Sep 2021 11:17 AM PDT I want to be as ad-free as possible. I use Adguard Private DNS and adblocker on firefox. But I saw that DNS can't block ads on youtube app and I don't like using youtube on browser. What are the best alternatives for Youtube app without ads? [link] [comments] |

Recent Android update mess up anyone else's Bluetooth playability? Posted: 28 Sep 2021 07:53 PM PDT I'm assuming there was something wonky in the recent Android update. My pixel 5 is having all sorts of problems connecting to everything (pixel buds, ue boom, etc). If I reboot my phone it might connect to a device via Bluetooth for a minute, but then the connection drops and it'll say it's still connected and outputting to my Bluetooth device, but it's plays from the phone's speakers instead. Is there a way to recover files after deleting them by accident? Posted: 28 Sep 2021 07:15 PM PDT Sorry this is a big shot in the dark but by accident i've deleted about 300 songs in my downloaded files. Does anyone know if these any way for me to recover them? I've checked in my phone's gallery but the only thing it shows in the recycle bin are videos and photos [link] [comments] |
Send sms reply from lock screen Posted: 28 Sep 2021 07:08 PM PDT I just factory reset my Moto G Power, Android 11. Previously I could read & reply to SMS & other chat apps directly from the lock screen. After this reset, I can read the message, type a reply, but when I hit SEND, I'm promoted to unlock my device. It then opens into the app, loads the current conversation & then send my reply. Where is the setting to fully enable interactivity from the lock screen? I've checked Security, Fingerprints & Accessibility options, but I'm not seeing anything that seems to correspond to what I need. Anyone point me in a better direction, pls? [link] [comments] |
Chrome turned tabs into line items Posted: 28 Sep 2021 06:20 PM PDT So chrome app has turned my tabs into line items instead of side by side tiles (scrolling vertically). Is there some flag I can tick to bring those back? [link] [comments] |
How to add a camera shortcut to the bottom navigation bar? (with root if necessary) Posted: 28 Sep 2021 01:55 PM PDT Reason: Personal preference. I once had an S7, which used a double-home-button start shortcut (physical home button). I would like to have it at a similar location. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 05:04 PM PDT So, since I'm low on storage space, I deleted some apps, one of which was a volume bar configurator. Now O don't have a volume bar at all, and the volume buttons don't work either. Going to the settings and manually adjusting the volumes does work but is a hassle. Phone is Motorola One Macro, on Android 9. Thanks in advance :) Edit: Nevermind, I had the glorious idea of restarting the phone xD. Works perfectly [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 04:31 PM PDT I've recently switched from android 7 to android 10. I'm aware that the recents menu is now embedded to the system launcher instead of system ui. So, i'm wondering if switching to a third party launcher will occupy more ram (mantain the system and installed launcher on memory) [link] [comments] |
ERASE android phone my kid put a lock code on Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:29 PM PDT I have an older phone I let my kid use, but dipshit put a lock code on it and doesn't remember what it is. I don't need any data on it and just want to restore it, but every "guide" out there is bypassing the lock code to get data (which I don't care about). If I just want to erase it so I can at least use it, what do I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:23 PM PDT Expected outcome: My major concerns: Any well-explained article explaining the implementation of shared element fragment between two fragments in kotlin or if you can explain me how to use a totally new navigation graph whose first fragment is a child fragment from that i mean how to use Navigation component without hosting the navhost fragment on an activity? Microphone stops working except if I'm on speaker phone call Posted: 28 Sep 2021 03:02 PM PDT I ran into some problem and had to go to safe mode, after getting out of safe mode I notice a lot of settings changed, my launcher has been changed to default, keyboard app also back to default. I now notice that when I get a call, people can't hear me unless I am on speaker mode, the microphone would only work if I'm on a call and on speaker mode. I can no longer use ok-google, no voice typing, or anything that requires a microphone. If my mic works on speaker mode, that should mean my mic is not broken, it's a setting, right? Any idea on how to restore my mic function to normal? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Sep 2021 02:56 PM PDT There are few that have cared about this, and even fewer that have spent 20 minuts googling how to fix it untill finally caving and making a reddit post asking for help. Tiktok automatically saves videos i download to "camera" folder and I'm sick of it. [link] [comments] |
Samsung note 20 "moisure in charging port" stuck on. Posted: 28 Sep 2021 02:46 PM PDT My phone will randomly display this message, It's never when I'm around water and i've never gotten the phone wet. Usually after a couple hours it goes away but this time it won't. It's been on all day. I've done everything I can think of short of a factory reset. Even when it's off and I try to charge it it won't let me. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any solution short of bringing it to a shop? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Sep 2021 01:43 PM PDT Hi all, thanks for looking. My wife's phone (Ulefone Armor 9E) has recently had the touch screen periodically stop working, which has gotten progressively worse. A restart appeared to fix the issue briefly, before it then stopped working again. This has been going on for several days now. Each time the restart fix lasted for a shorter period than the last. I've attempted a factory reset, but this still has not fixed the issue, and I'm now at a loss of what to do next. I don't think it's a hardware issue as restarting initially fixed it. I'm happy to be corrected, but please any advice would be hugely appreciated! Note: Plugging in a mouse over usb-c allows me to operate the phone as usual, so that is also not the issue. Posted: 28 Sep 2021 08:53 AM PDT Through this thread I hope someone can help me figure out how to convert this LG stylo 6, originally made for cricket, work with my verizon sim card. I went to unlocking company's site, but they don't have an option for Cricket under original network provider, and my google searches aren't returning anything helpful. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to Download and Reinstall Android 5.1 on First Gen Motorola Moto G Posted: 28 Sep 2021 12:38 PM PDT Hi, I have a first gen Motorola Moto G and it's experiencing some weird behavior even after multiple factory resets and not transferring any of the contents that was present on the device before the reset or using any backups or device transfers. I'm aware that Lineage OS offers Android 7 support if I recall correctly but I had hoped to simply download and reinstall this version of Android so I can use it to test some apps that I've developed with a special focus on supporting legacy devices. Does Motorola offer a tool to reflash the device? A few months back I was perusing their website and came across a tool that sounded exactly like what I was looking for but apparently it's only available for newer devices. Would anyone happen to have any suggestions for resolving this issue? I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
