A List of some top Paid apps on Play Store

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 06:40 AM PDT

    Hello everyone.

Sleep as Android and Samsung Health have totally different records of my sleep, and I don't know what to do about it.

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 12:09 AM PDT

I've been using SAA for about a year and always tried to trust it since everyone raves about it. Last week, I got the new Galaxy Watch and started tracking my sleep with Samsung Health as well as SAA.

SH reflects a record more closely in line with how I feel i.e. when I feel really tired, the graph shows I only got 23 minutes of deep sleep and 5.5 total hours of sleep. That same night, SAA recorded 3.5 hours of deep sleep, and 7.5 hours of total sleep.

Additionally, SH perfectly captured interrupted sleep i.e. got up to use the toilet, then couldn't fall asleep for an hour so the app records "sleep one" and "sleep two" and has stats for each section. Meanwhile, SAA just counts the entire time the tracker was running as sleep, and only one session. Because of this, I am starting to wonder if Samsung is in fact more accurate.

Is there any way to know? Everyone seems to love SAA so much and there aren't many other options.

I mainly bought this watch for sleep and health tracking, so the huge discrepancy is bothersome since I have no idea which record is more accurate.

Have you encountered this issue yourself? Tips, idea, solutions?

How to make Google photos autotag with ongoing Google calendar events?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 09:53 AM PDT

I would like to tag all of my photos with the current google calendar event. AFAIK, the app does not do this currently. For instance, if I have "Music Department Meeting" in my calendar from 4-6pm every Sunday and I took a picture around 5pm every Sunday, I want those pictures to be tagged with "Music Department Meeting" so that I can just search for "Music Department Meeting" in my Google Photos app and I can see all the images I took within any calendar timeframe with that name. Is there an automation, script, or built-in feature that does this? I am rooted.

Edit: It does not seem like this exists. I am willing to make a simple app for it, does anyone know info about where photos stores its photo metadata related to tags, or how to programmatically modify them?

Note: I posted this 5 years ago, just wondering if anything has changed!

    Slideshow/Image display controlled from computer?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 09:51 AM PDT

Hey all, I'm looking for an app to fill a very specific need.

When playing Dungeons and Dragons and similar games, I'd like to use my tablet to display images to my players and control what is being displayed from my laptop.

I'm looking for an app that does the following, or something that could serve a similar purpose:

    • Displays an image (or powerpoint-like slides would be even better) full-screen on the tablets.
    • Allows the user to control this display from a computer.

It's not an issue if this requires the tablet being plugged in.

Can anyone recommend a possible solution?

    Thank you!

Best apps that record or transcribe phone calls? Are there any apps that aren't phone apps themselves but can transcribe from the default Google/samsung phone app when given permissions to?

Which paid or subscription based app are you unhappy with, but you keep using anyway?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 04:50 AM PDT

[DEV] A year ago I launched Liquid Teardown and the Android community's response was amazing, bringing to 250k downloads! Today V 2.0 rolled out so I'm giving away 20 promo codes to thank you.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:19 PM PDT

A year has passed since launch, meaning the app has had a lot of improvements and fixes and is no where close to what it was when it launched. I got the time to polish it based on your feedback throughout the year, feel free to check it out in case you missed it!

    What does the app do?

See your phone internals and battery fill up in real-time every time you plug in your phone to charge it. It not only makes charging a bit more fun but it also allows you to see how much your battery is filled at a glance without needing to get up close to read that small %

What if my phone is not supported?

There are also universal options to allow anyone with an android device to join in on the fun. You can request for your phone's internals to be added, like many did throughout the past year and got their phone added to the Liquid Teardown line up.

    Check it out here

For the giveaway just leave a comment telling me why android is better than iOS and I'll randomly choose 20 redditors in 48h

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

    Intik.

Need a good news app that sends push notifications when big stories break

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:36 AM PDT

I've been using the NPR app and it does a decent job of only giving push notifications when there's a pretty important story, unfortunately the thing crashes on my Samsung Galaxy S21 and all attempts to clear app cache, reinstall, etc. have made no difference.

Does anybody have a news app that is good at only delivering push notifications for important stories?

Tried to experiment with in-game currency - you can buy ad-free time (as of now - it's actually the only thing you can buy :D). Also tried to make ad time itself more adaptive so it's less annoying. Appreciate your opinions on how it actually worked, and game in general.

What price my app should be?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:49 AM PDT

I have an application to solve certain types of operations research problems with comments. There is a PRO version in the app that gets unlocked via in-app purchases. This version allows solving problems with bigger dimensions and more solution methods are available.

I have a reliable but quite small revenue from PRO versions, which gives me motivation to work on the application. I tried to experiment with the price, setting it ranging from $1 to almost $4. But there are too few purchases to perform A/B tests reliably.

How much in your opinion the PRO version of this kind of application should cost?

EDIT: I've read the rules, and it seems it is allowed to provide a link to the app itself - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplex

    About The Official Reddit App

I'm not looking for a Reddit app substitute, but I'm genuinely curious if the people who're responsible for managing the app, test the app on the different OS before releasing it. Because I've run into numerous bugs in the app and read a few threads regard the app as "bad" or "buggy".

    Duplicating an app?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 11:00 AM PDT

I know some apps have the ability to duplicate, like snapchat, whatsapp, etc. I have a mood tracker app that I would like to have two of. I have two different sets of things that I would like to track and they're not related to each other. I'd like to have one version of the app to track one set of things, and the duplicate of the same app to track the other side of things. Is such a thing possible? The app is called T2 Mood Tracker

Alternative for @Aloud but with natural voices?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 10:58 AM PDT

There are many TTS reader apps on Google Play, such as @Voice Aloud Reader, T2S: Text to Speech, Speech Central, etc.

All of them have the same voices powered by Google. Are there any TTS apps you know of having the voices like those on Narrator's Voice and The Zueira's Voice?

I mean an app which I can share an news article with via share manager and the app read me the article.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What is that tool/filter people use to look better on photos?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 10:38 AM PDT

I am a bit older and fatter than in my "pretty days" but, a few months ago, I took a picture with someone (who is on their phone all day, every day) and they sent me the selfie - and it's the best picture of me that I have!

Actually, it's so good, it's too good. I can see the dark around the eyes has been removed, my lips made a little more full, my chin a little more pronounced... - All sorts of little tweaks that ARE NOT OBVIOUS (very subtle and natural). Like, if you didn't know how I really look like... And you didn't know programs like this exist... You'd think I am good looking :)

They had a middle-range phone, HTC something. Must be an app on it.Unlikely that they retouched my face on photoshop - it must have been some automated process.

Now, I need another one like this for the access card I use to get into the office - I will be wearing that on me all day, might as well spend some time to make it nice :)- There's no false advertising, as the Muze of that piece of art will be visible a couple of feet above it ;)

Daily checklist tracker with home screen widget

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 01:42 AM PDT

I want to try and improve my productivity, and I'm looking for an app that can help me. I want to be able to set up a checklist of stuff I'd like to do each day, check them off as I do them, and record the data somewhere.

The key to it is minimum friction, so I want to be able to check things off from a home screen widget.

The only thing that I've found with a decent widget is Google tasks, but the widget is buggy, setting up recurring tasks is a pain, and it doesn't record the data anywhere. I've tried setting up some automation with apps script but it's far from ideal.

Before i start thinking too much about writing my own app, is there anything out there that's a bit more functional?

How to use TikTok from a browser on mobile?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 05:24 AM PDT

Greetings, Is it possible to use TikTok within a browser on mobile?

All I need to be able to do is open the link leading to a creator page. Then be able to click and watch individual videos.

I don't need nor want the Home Feed (For You Page).

If this isn't possible, is there an alternative tiktok app that disables the FYP video recommendations?

I want to be able to go and learn from different TikTok channels without being distracted by other recommendations.

    Thanks

How to add a chrome widget on Android homescreen that behaves like it's opened in pop-up view?

Does anyone know how I can do this?

Redmi phones with Android 9 sending very low res images in a custom developed app

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 02:20 AM PDT

Hello everyone, I had a custom app developed which sends data(Images and some metadata points) to a server. We tested it on every device we could get our hands on and are facing an issue specifically with mi phones(not pocophones) with android 9. While sending images, these phones are sending very low resolution images to the server with size ranging from 20KB to 60KB. While all the other phones are sending good quality images. It seems that somehow images are converted to 320x240 resolution before sending. Does anyone here know how to fix this or has faced similar problems? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.
