New Gigabyte Aero wont charge from USB-PD wall charger Posted: 19 Jul 2021 01:34 PM PDT I recently got a new Gigabyte Aero 15 that has a Tiger Lake-H Cpu as well as Thunderbolt 4 support. The Thunderbolt 4 port I recently found will charge the laptop with a Dell dock. I purchased a 65w USB-PD 3.0 rated charger, as well as a 5A, 100w rated type c to type c cable. Unfortunately, the laptop does not charge when I hook it up. I tested the charger with my phone and it fast charges, so I do not think that the charger has a problem. I am not sure at this point why the Dell dock would work, but not a stand alone charger. [link] [comments]
Should i choose CPU over SSD storage or SSD storage over CPU? Posted: 19 Jul 2021 01:20 PM PDT I am buying a new laptop and i have to choose one of the two laptops i have in mind. First one is HP pavilion 15, and the other one is Acer Nitro 5, the HP pavillion has i7 processor but only 226gb storage, and the nitro has i5 Processor but 512gb storage. With the laptop i want to play games and do school work, aswell as video editing and photoshopping. Which one would suit me more? [link] [comments]
Best Previous-Generation thin and light gaming laptops ? Posted: 19 Jul 2021 10:05 AM PDT It seems that current-gen favorites (for ex. Asus Zephyrus g14 and Asus TUF F15) in this category are too flawed for the price (and Asus have no webcams) so now I'm wondering whether some of previous generation thin-and-light gaming laptops are capable of playing semi-recent gaming titles on max settings without breaking that much bank.Specifically I'm thinking games like Apex Legends, CoD MW, Half Life Alyx in VR, RdR2. Another topic I'd love to hear your thoughts on is whether previous-generation laptops are more likely to go on sale this year (sorry, I haven't bought tech in a while). [link] [comments]
What laptop should I choose for gaming purposes? Posted: 19 Jul 2021 03:33 AM PDT For gaming, should I get a laptop with ryzen 5 4500u and 16gb of ram, or should I get one with r7 4700u, but only 8gb of ram? [link] [comments]

I can't make proper use of Gpu Posted: 19 Jul 2021 02:22 PM PDT I bought a razer laptop last week (i7 10750/rtx3070) and when im playing there is barely no use of gpu, even when connected to a monitor. It keeps stuttering and struggling to keep low fps in such simple game (league). I already turned optimus off on synapse, im using gaming mode as well, and performance mode on windows and in synapse. How can i force more use of the gpu? Second question If i change hdmi for a thunderbolt/displayport would i make any improvement? Considering that my monitos has 144hz and freesync. Thanks. Surface Laptop Go vs. Galaxy Book Flex 2 Alpha Posted: 19 Jul 2021 02:20 PM PDT Hello All, I would like some advice and help with deciding on a purchase. I'm helping out a niece out with a laptop since hers broke, and she needs it for college. She's interested in the Surface Laptop Go. But I came across the Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha and on paper it says to be a better laptop and with a special student offer it comes out to cost the same. Which one would you guys recommend. Other options could be consider, would prefer to stay under 700 pre tax. Thanks for your help. [link] [comments]
Advice on selling or keeping and fixing it up Posted: 19 Jul 2021 01:19 PM PDT Hello redditors of r/laptops, im having some problems with my gaming laptop, wich is 1 year and a month old, it just isnt the same anymore and i had the oppurtunity to test some desktops and i am really thinking about getting one, the problem is, i dont know how i can manage to sell this laptop or if it is even better to fix it. It is a great computer, it has 16GB of RAM, 256 gb SSD, 1tb HDD, an intel i7 8750h, and an RTX 2060, altrough it needs some fixes in the plastic of the back ventilation since it has fallen once and probably a good cleaning, it still does good, but nothing compared to what i have tested. I bought this laptop for about 1300€ with a 400€ discount, and the desktop i was looking forward to replace this laptop is around 1100-1200€, do you think i can get that or should i just fix it and keep it longer? I need help with buying a laptop Posted: 19 Jul 2021 01:09 PM PDT I would like a laptop with a light up keyboard, usually I type and code at night so it would be helpful, I want to have a good battery and a nice screen, thin and light if possible and maybe play some light games on it, mostly factorio on the go and some indie games, on a budget if possible, this is going to be a upgrade bc I have a old laptop and a pc, or should I just get a nice keyboard that is Bluetooth compatible since I have Bluetooth on my laptop, if so help me pick a good keyboard Tldr: a laptop that has a light up keyboard is budget oriented, and be a media consumption device. Laptop recommendations: American attending grad school in UK/EU Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:55 PM PDT I'm about to move abroad for the next two years to attend a graduate program in the humanities and would appreciate your recommendations both on less expensive laptop models and how to handle the different power sources. I'll mostly be using the laptop for writing, streaming, internet, and a some photo editing. But I will also be relocating to a new country every semester, so lightweight and long battery life are high priorities. As to the second issue, I don't know if it's better to buy the computer in the US or if I should buy it when I get to the UK. Are there converter specs I will need to keep in mind so I don't ruin my laptop, as opposed to the ones I'll use for my phone, camera battery, etc.? Please let me know if you have any other questions, I'm sure I've left out plenty of relevant details. Thanks for your help! [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jul 2021 09:00 AM PDT Hi guys. I would like to get recommendation for buying a new laptop. My current laptop is Asus i7 with 16 gb ram, Nvidia Geforce gtx 950m and it has a lot of problems and its been less than 2 years. My previous laptop was hp and didnt have good experience with it as well. Both got battery issues and current laptop had a hard drive crash. So I would like to get your recommendations. I am a data science student in university so I would like to get a good powerful laptop which can last for more than a couple of years. A friend of mine is selling his macbook pro 16 and I would like to know if its suitable for data science and also if it has any major issues. Its very expensive so would like to get opinions. If its not suitable please recommend me other laptops that can last and are suitable. Sorry if I have mentioned something stupid or I have said something wrong. English is not my first language. And thank you in advance. [link] [comments]
I need advice on something i should do or not Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:35 PM PDT I recently bought a monitor for my laptop with a broken screen. The laptop is a couple years old but still runs good. I've been going back and forth on if i should reset the whole laptop and reinstall windows but i'm not sure if it would let me reconnect to my monitor after ive reinstalled windows since I would need to go through the setup first which i cant without the monitor connecting im not sure if thats whats going to happen when i reinstall windows so is this true or not? Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:28 PM PDT I have a chromebook and I live in a unsafe area. If anyone gets their hands on it they can easily powerwash it (reset) and they have a free laptop. Any way to disable it? [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:54 AM PDT Ello, I appreciate you guys giving me some time out of your day. I'm about to buy a Legion 5 pro, my budget is 1100£ and after customizing the unit the total price came up as 1080£ for: Ryzen 7 5800H Rtx 3060 8GB 3200 cl22 ram 4-zone RGB 1600p 16" screen 512GB m.2 2280 SSD 80wh battery I'd use it for gaming/University (Computer Science). Now, Im contemplating between getting additional 8gb ram and dropping the 512GB SSD for a 256GB. I can't get both of the additional 8GB ram and the 512GB ssd since then the total price goes up to 1190 and that's out of my very rigid budget(I'm 18 and don't have a high paying job). I would really like some guidance since this is my first laptop and I wanna make sure it doesn't sputter out on me during the 4 year program. Also I'm open to future upgrades(additional SSD/Ram), Thank you Immensely. [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jul 2021 12:07 PM PDT Hi! I'm starting college in September and need a laptop for it. I'm a biology major and want a touch screen laptop preferably but I don't need one. Just a regular laptop would be fine. I'm really into the Microsoft Surface but it's super expensive. Does anyone have suggestions on a laptop kind of like the surface but cheaper? Is it worth it to buy a cheap Chromebook/laptop as backup? Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:32 AM PDT Had to send my HP laptop for repairs. The repairs has been delayed for parts and googling tells me that's HP's catch-all for delays, which can be months. The thing is, I need to do things. My delay has been for two weeks, but I have personal endeavors I don't want to put off. I need something with a USB drive, otherwise I'd buy a cheap tablet. My question is...for those of you who don't own a laptop, do you own a cheap secondary machine for situations like this? Is that common? Many thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:30 AM PDT My laptop won't boot into a USB and doesn't show it's bios, any idea what's wrong? (It's a reeeeealy old Samsung nc10 that I'm messing with for fun) Also btw its power button does light up and the fans do work [link] [comments]

Laptop audio screeching and now I have no sound Posted: 19 Jul 2021 11:19 AM PDT Hi, After a very unpleasant high-pitched screeching that lasts for about a minute, my sound would usually come back to normal for the past few days. But now it's just gone. Wether I have headphones on or not it wouldn't change anything about it. I've tried to update my sound drivers, even disabling it and enabling it with restarting my laptop but nothing happens. Do you know how can this be solved? Thanks Edit: my laptop is an ASUS GL752VW and i've had it for 4+ years [link] [comments]
Battery age is 6 months despite just buying it Posted: 19 Jul 2021 07:28 AM PDT I just bought a new laptop brand new but on my hp support assistant is said that my battery age is 6 months. How is that possible? Is that an issue I should contact the warranty for? [link] [comments] |
