Is there Malware/Spyware that could survive a factory reset? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 07:04 PM PDT So, I am fairly certain my phone (galaxy S10+) was compromised. I was the victim of an extortion scam (details in another post on my profile, nsfw), and last night right around the time I received a follow up message from the perps, I noticed a brief red flash on my phone's screen, which google tells me is indicative of something being run in developer mode and I was certainly not doing that myself. The next morning I noticed suspicious pages open in my chrome browser. That was enough for me and I factory reset my phone. I did not restore to the backup, as the backup was after I was attacked. I assumed this would do the trick by going scorched earth, but now every little hiccup has me paranoid that I'm still infected. Added an account, whoops app closed. Made a call, whoops closed. All would normally be easily chalked up to Android being Android but well, forgive me for being paranoid right now. I've not set up any actual accounts yet to be cautious. Is there any merit to this worry? [link] [comments] |
Checking mobile signal strength of other telcos Posted: 12 Jul 2021 08:54 PM PDT I'm using my current telco for years now, but I've moved to a new place that has no reception for my telco but when I go to the Connections>Mobile networks>Network operators>Scan Network. The scan shows 2 telco listed so I know I would have to port my number to those 2 telcos. I would prefer to port to the one with better signal strength at home. I'm frequently connected to them under "Emergency calls only" but I noticed one is better than the other. Is there an app I can use to check telco signal strength to identify which telco is a better pick to port to? [link] [comments] |

Android not allowing direct access to "Internal Storage" or "SD Card" folders? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 10:30 PM PDT So I have a media player that's requesting SD card access to be able to edit tags. I go the the SD card's main directory and see a message stating "Can't use this folder", telling me to select a different one to protect my privacy. There doesn't seem to be any other option, except for a button to create a new folder? How do I get around this? Has anyone else had similar problems? This is the first time I've had this issue on this device, or in general for that matter. [link] [comments] |
Alternate way to access internal storage Posted: 12 Jul 2021 10:29 PM PDT I added an SD card to my Cat S61 and tried to migrate my photos and such to it. All I was able to achieve was duplicating the files onto the SD card, so now I have less space than I started. I tried to connect it to my Windows 10 computer but can only see the SD card show up, and not internal storage. Windows says the MTP driver is up to date, and no USB settings or developer mode settings I've found have made any difference. I tried different cables and USB ports with no change. Is there another way such as a PC application to connect directly to the internal storage without MTP (which I think is the issue)? [link] [comments] |
Google drive question, how to fix partial upload? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 10:10 PM PDT So I was trying to transfer pictures off my work computer using Google drive ( stupid to put them on there I know...) and of course my work computer had a restart that I couldn't postpone when I had only like 5% left to go on the upload. Is there a way to figure out which files didn't upload? I'm honestly shocked there isn't some kind of alert anywhere that says the upload didn't finish. Makes me regret buying storage from them. (I know it's not an android question per say, but an r/Google bot blocked my post and I hoped someone here may know...) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2021 10:09 PM PDT I have a galaxy A21 and when I plug in my charger it brings a notification on the drop down bar that says android system...(USB settings)... I have to click on it to change "connected device" to "this phone" to allow it to start charging. Its really annoying because this causes it to cable charge which takes forever sometimes. Im not sure what I did to cause this to start happening. Jist started a few days ago. Had the phone for a few months. Battery dies super quickly too its insane. Battery was fine a week ago [link] [comments] |
Google app draining battery even after disabling Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:43 PM PDT Basically title. I'm using Galaxy F62 (aka M62) which is mid-range device. Few days back I noticed Google app along with Google Play Services were consuming lots of battery and I could feel my device warm to the touch all the time. So I replaced the normal Google app with Google Go. But now although play services are not draining battery but I can still see Google app top in the list consuming battery. Also one peculiar thing to note is -- as per the information in screenshot it's not really running in background. Really confused what's going on and looking for help! Thank you. [link] [comments] |
FLUD restarts my phone when torrenting Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:38 PM PDT Is there anyway i can stop this from happening when using flud? I've only ever downloaded like 1-2gb movies at a time. [link] [comments] |
Samsung s9 mic has stopped working properly, help needed Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:30 PM PDT Hi there, I have a Samsung S9, and the mic on it has always been fine but for whatever reason, for the past few weeks has stopped working or is extremely muffled. I would like to know how do I go about fixing this issue as this has stopped me from calling people and sending voicenotes. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2021 08:58 PM PDT I know this is a dumb question so I apologize in advance - when an Apple user likes a message in iMessage, an Android user receives a message that says "[user] likes "[text of message]". Does the Android user also receive a new message alert? [link] [comments] |
Help - My Phone Has White Screen Of Death Posted: 12 Jul 2021 08:28 PM PDT My phone recently was lost for a couple months then I found my phone. When I turned it on it was dead so I put it on the charger and a white screen with a weird black animation. I looked it up and sure enough it had the white screen of death. I spent HOURS trying to factory reset it and I finally did just that and it work again. But I stuck it on the door as a security camera using webcam. I left it sitting again and the white screen of death CAME BACK. With my knowledge of computer I think factory resetting it delete EVERYTHING. Correct me if I'm wrong. So it must be a hardware issue which it's not easy to take apart. My phone is a Samsung A10e. Please help because I have no idea what's wrong. Maybe the sim card is corrupted idk. And I STRUGGLE to get to recovery screen. [link] [comments] |
Can I get rid of voice-mail notifications? (Samsung Galaxy A32 5G) Posted: 12 Jul 2021 06:50 PM PDT On my old a20, I used to be able to dismiss the voice-mail notifications just by swiping them away. Now I can't, they stay put. And when I press and hold the notification to try and turn it off, it's labeled as a "SIM 1" and it's stuck in the enabled position. The most I can do is silence them, but it doesn't mean the notification still doesn't annoy me when I open up the rest of my notifications. Is there anything I can do, or am I stuck with the annoying blip? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2021 05:38 PM PDT Is there any need for anti virus apps on my android phone? There are quite some apps on play store. Does it actually work? [link] [comments] |
A50 Stuck in headphone mode... Posted: 12 Jul 2021 12:42 PM PDT Last night I was listening to a podcast and out of nowhere my phone switched to headset mode and now I can't get it out. My audio is fine when I plug my earbuds in but when I take them out my audio output still says I'm in headphone mode. After looking at all the different suggestions online I tried a few with not much luck Things I've tried Cleaning out the headphone jack, plugging & unplugging my earbuds multiple times, restarting phone and even did a factory reset. If I go to my ring tone settings it let's me play them through the speakers with no issues, also I can make a call using speaker phone no problem. The only suggestion I haven't tried yet is spraying a can of air duster into the jack to clear out any dust/debri. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions before I take my phone to a shop? Is there any way to separate ringtone and notification volumes on Android 11 (Pixel 5)? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 04:25 PM PDT My ringtone isn't very loud and unfortunately you can only hear it well when it's on max volume, but this means that all my other notifications are painfully loud. I looked it up and I saw people using an app called "volume butler" to separate the ringtone and notification volumes on their phones. However, I couldn't find this app on the Google Play Store anymore for some reason. I installed a bunch of other third party volume apps but none of them could separate the ringtone and notification volumes on my phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Edit: I used Macrodroid so that my phone ring/notification volume goes all the way up when a call is incoming, and then decreases it once a call ends. Hopefully this works [link] [comments] |
Mysterious app appeared in Android Auto called 'GearSnacks'. What is it? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 05:47 AM PDT This weekend I noticed a new app had shown up in my Android Auto list. It's called GearSnacks (no space). Here it is in my AA app list screenshot Tapping on it when in my vehicle, there is a list of what sound like games. Just to clarify, I don't have an app installed on my phone called 'GearSnacks'. Short of uninstalling every app one by one, is there a way I can find out where this has come from? [link] [comments] |
I found a strange document on my google drive that I did not create. Posted: 12 Jul 2021 02:56 PM PDT The document is called appGrowthLog and this is what's inside it. "com.android.volley.NoConnectionError: java.net.ConnectException: failed to connect to ureca.samsungapps.com/52.48.218.201 (port 443) after 10000ms: isConnected failed: ECONNREFUSED (Connection refused)" Am I hacked? And did someone access my google drive? Even if this document might be normal in the phone's storage (never heard of it), on top of that why is it uploaded to my drive? It was uploaded on a strange date where a lot of unexplainable things happened to me which I can't talk about but I only found it today. [link] [comments] |
Recovering media on a device that can't be unlocked Posted: 12 Jul 2021 02:42 PM PDT Hello reddit! I've been using a Samsung Galaxy A10e for the last 2 years, and with it, have taken a plethora of pictures, written important notes, and have taken voice memos of song ideas I'd like to have at my disposal. Yesterday however, I managed to crack my phone in such a way that the entire screen has become unusable. It reacts to touch, but it acts as though the screen is constantly being tapped. Additional problems have sprung up, including strange activity with the placement of the screen, as well as a growing, "dead space," that's covered by black and a few colored lines. Because I don't have a password on it, I assumed that I would be able to recover this data by plugging it into my computer and going through the files, but it seems as though I can't get into them at all. My best guess is that I'm unable to see these because the device is locked, and also that the device might be set to charge only when plugged in for some reason. I found a program that was supposed to recover data on a locked device, but it didn't support my Samsung version. I figured before I went any further and possibly damaged this data, I should ask here. What would be the best way to go about recovering this data? Is there an ideal program? Is there some sort of hard drive reader that I could buy? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and I can provide any more information required if necessary. Thank you! [link] [comments] |

Can you password Protect ALL Play Store Purchases? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 01:46 PM PDT to include "free" apps/downloads? I swear I thought there was a way, but the way I'm configured now only requires credentials for "paid" downloads. [link] [comments] |
Problems with Anker charger cables Posted: 12 Jul 2021 01:26 PM PDT I got some Anker charger cables few month back, one is USB to USB-C the other is USB to micro USB. I have two phones, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy Note 10+. When I was charging them whilst using them, my Galaxy S7 just suddenly crashed and wouldn't turn on again, that happened a few month ago, but from a quick Google search, it said that there was a problem with the motherboard, giving that it was my backup phone and wasn't important, I didn't go to any shop yet to fix it, especially with covid. But also recently, my Note 10+ started crashing, I've had it for a little more than year only, and it never crashed. I'm worried that the reason are the Anker charger cables, since nothing else was different. I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to phones, so if there's any information that would be useful, tell me, and I'll edit the post to add it. TLDR: Possiblity that Anker charger cables are causing my phone's to crash, any had something similar happening? [link] [comments] |
Instagram can still access contacts even though permission has been denied Posted: 12 Jul 2021 07:17 AM PDT I've denied Instagram permission to my contacts on my Android 8.1 phone, but when I click "all permissions" in the top right of that screen it says that Instagram still has permission to read my contacts. How do I disable this and completely prevent it from accessing my contacts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jul 2021 12:58 PM PDT Any idea why this might be? Example: banking app won't load. So I turn mobile data off and on again. Immediately the app loads fine. This happens multiple times a day with just about any app Is this a hardware issue? Phone just getting old? It's a Note10 [link] [comments] |
