How to block "reaction" text in group chats on Android?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 07:38 PM PDT

As has been discussed here and elsewhere, iPhone users who "like" or "emphasize" text messages in group chats inadvertently send a text to the Android participants specifying "Liked 'the message text'". This stinks, and it's annoying.

I found one solution involving a 3rd party "Tasker" solution to filter text messages based on their content, but I'm wondering if there's a simpler solution to block these incoming messages? I want to participate in the group chat, but I don't really care if someone likes an image that someone else posted (or really anything that's not words from a person). Any solutions?

Is there any way to limit storage allotted to a particular app?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 08:33 PM PDT

Because I cant clear this "user data" which is obviously picture and video cache in facebook app without clearing entire app data which will require me to login again. I read that facebook saves storage specifically for this and the only way to remove is to clear all data. The same problem with reddit , I can't clear the user data without clearing entire data. So is there any way to limit the storage we allow apps to use in the first place?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 10:54 PM PDT

So basically while using my phone it randomly said Moisture detected so I tried blowing on it with my mouth which was stupid I admit it and using a hairdryer with cool and warm air to try to get it dry then I left it for 2 hours until I tried charging it and it worked but it stayed stuck at 0 percent. I kept trying to do this over and over and I tried using this trick where I force restarted at 0% then I charged my phone but then my phone is just not responding to anything anymore no force restarts no charging. Please help me my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S8 I don't know what to do and I don't have money for a new phone.

Android phone Moto G Fast with Boost Mobile service suddenly won't find any Bluetooth devices. I've tried all of the common fixes I can find and... nothing... and now it also won't find WiFi either.. I am completely stumped. Help!

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 10:21 PM PDT

So two days ago my two months new Moto G Fast phone with Boost Mobile service (unlimited data, phone and text with 30 gig Hotspot) suddenly won't find any Bluetooth devices, even previous ones it had paired with, so obviously I couldn't "forget" previous pairings. I tried turning Bluetooth off and on, powering the phone off and turning back on after one minute. I reset Wifi, mobile and Bluetooth. I read I should clear the cache but can't find a Bluetooth app or settings that allow for that.

Then, yesterday, it won't find any WiFi networks either, including a Hotspot connection also on Boost Mobile that is literally a foot away. I am completely stumped as both these things were fine on Thursday.

The only thing I can think of next is to do a factory reset. I'm fine with that - my phone is synchronized with another phone and I have everything set to back up automatically, including photos, which are on an SD card anyway, so nothing will be lost. I'm just not confident that will work either.

Does anyone know of anything else I can try? Thanks in advance.

Weird problem appear on my screen

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 10:15 PM PDT

    Hello

I have a weird thing appear in my S8+ screen, there is some transparent things appear on the background, no matter what app i use it is just there, I can see it clearly on a white background, idk what is it but its like an application is opened in the background.

What I can see is some icons like (messaging on lower left, Phone, video call on upper right) and in the upper middle it's written "more videos", but i can't use it or click on any of its content

I have checked the background apps but nothing unusual.

And when I take a screenshot it just doesn't appear in it.

Its been there for a while but had no time to check it, I am afraid maybe it's a spy or hacking app installed on my device??

    Can anyone help with this

    Thanks

Help! Android eats controller home input and presses android home instead

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 09:37 PM PDT

I'd like to be able to use the home button for it's intended purpose again. On my phone the button works (LGV60) but on my tablet(Galaxy S5e) it rips me out of the game and sends me to the home screen.

After doing some poking around I realized my LGV60 actually does the same thing, but it's only bound to Android home when I'm not in a game. In other words it's smart enough to know that maybe I want that button for it's intended function while I'm in game

I just want android to pass the input to the app rather than rebinding it to useless OS functions

Note: It should be through a wired connection, so that there wont be any latency issues.

Qualcomm Bootloader + QSEE content dumping, flashing (and changing signing keys)

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 02:40 PM PDT

So, I want to dump, flash (and change the verified signing keys of) my phone's (more specifically the OnePlus 7 Pro (GM1913)) bootloader and QSEE.

    Why? Because:

    1. Hardening. I want to do all I can to harden my devices and that includes removing/mitigating any possible backdoors and exploits from firmware. Eg. OEM firmware signing keys, Intel ME.

    2. I can sign/trust what I want to. Eg. enabling secure boot on a custom ROM I have signed.

Need help turning off notifications for app

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 06:16 PM PDT

    Hello,

I need help turning off notifications from my carrier app, it was installed automatically with the SIM card.It keeps bothering me with those popup messages that just appear on the middle of the screen, I have seem people call it flash messages, it's basically spam.

    Things I have tried:

    > Turning off notifications from emergency sms.

    > Turning off notifications from "Cell Broadcast Service" app.

    > Going into the SIM app and tried to find a way to turn off or opt out, there isn't an option.

    > "Messages" app do not have an option to turn off SIM messages.

    > I have developers mode ON but couldn't find anything that would help.

    > I even tried to send a SMS to the carrier that it's supposed to turn ads off, but it didn't work.

As you can see on the images, the button to turn off is grayed out and I can't turn it off.

My phone is a Motorola G100 on Android 11.

I have never accessed the root, but I'm willing to do so if it's the only way to turn those off, I would just ask for a good tutorial on how to root access safely, I'm not very tech savy.

    Please help.

Any good ways to take advantage of the 20:9 display? (OnePlus 8T)

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 02:06 PM PDT

I hadn't purchased a phone since the Galaxy S6 and am finding this aspect ratio rather annoying actually, so I'd like to ask if there's any good way to take advantage of the extra screen real estate that will help change my mind, as I'm likely keeping this phone for at least a few years.

    Any ideas?

Is it possible to change the background (picture) based on normal/dark mode?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 01:35 PM PDT

    • stock Android 11 with all current updates

    • Pixel 4a

I would like to have a different background picture/wallpaper changed based on whether the phone is currently in normal or dark mode.

Is this possible with stock Android 11?

If not, what app could I use to make that happen? Would I have to use something like Automate or MacroDroid?

    Problems with default (Google) Daler

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 01:21 PM PDT

Devices - Alcatel 1S (2021) Android 11 + Motorola G8 Power lite Android 10 Default dialer (both devices) Google Phone.

    Issues

    1. Dropping calls continuously
    2. Very bad sound Interference during calls
    3. Very poor call sound quality
    4. Very poor Call volume.

    Solutions I've tried.

    1. Numerous different sim cards from multiple network providers. (I have the same issues whatever SIM I use)
    2. Disable google phone and replace with either the default lineage 18.1 dialer or ACR phone (available in playstore) and my call experience is much better.

Can anyone explain my issues and explain What's wrong with the Google dialer?

    What's the trigger?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 01:02 PM PDT

My nephew's android phone is constantly getting locked out by kiddy hackers, by the looks of it. Essentially, after a factory reset as soon the phone is on to the home WiFi, pin gets reset thus, locking out of the phone, turning it into a brick, really. Wondering how to make a clean break from this? Sadly, still can't figure any trigger points. Any pointers?

Root via magisk to install rooted app and unroot?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 04:15 PM PDT

    Hi there,

I am currently using xiaomi phone with magisk just for wide adblock and viper4android. However, I need to install microsoft intune in my phone and despite magisk hide and rename app, it still detect my device as rooted although basic safetynet passed.

So is it possible to unroot after I installed all rooted app? I know v4a will not work as it request root permission everytime it start up but does wide adblock will be disabled as well?

Can't verify banking application, phone call causes app to restart.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2021 04:13 PM PDT

So I am trying to verify my bank account on a new Android device, when I enter my login details it asks to call me to type in a 4 letter code, when I answer and type it I am then told to go back to the app to finish the process but the app restarts to the login screen again, even if I quickly answer and go back the app still restarts, is there a way to answer a call so it goes into the background straight away or a way to fix this?

    Thanks.
