PSA - 21H1 - Removes "Open With" Context Menu & Browse Default App

This is confirmed with three PCs in our organization, after updating to 21H1 the "Open with..." context menu is gone for certain file extensions, and the registry key that you'd normally check in ShellEx is in place and correct.

Further, the option to "Browse for application" is gone as well. You are left with the list of apps that Windoze offers you and the option to look in the super-useful Microsoft Store.

This is not cool. Not looking for help, just wanted folks to be aware that this 'feature' exists.

Unplugging controller while its going to the right

After having this problem for a few weeks now, I finally diagnosed what was causing it. If I unplug it when the joystick is going to the right or left, it will keep that input until I restart my computer. Its annoying because it causes my start menu/settings to auto scroll, making it impossible to click or search anything. Any fixes for this ?

i have 2 diffetent routers in house (different ip adress) one of them has good ping but bad bandwith and other one has bad ping but good bandwith, is it possible to use good ping by beeing connected via Lan cable and connecting second one via WiFi stick to get better bandwith

I noticed that for DS4 windows and steam's controller support to work simultaneously I need the controller to connect to steam's controller support and THEN to DS4 windows's support 2nd.

The only solution I can see is having a script that will detect when the controller disconnects and then kill DS4 windows. Then when it detects the controller is connected to the pc via bluetooth it will wait a few seconds and open DS4 windows.

How do i do this?

How do I make my songs have the titles of their files?

So I have been working with iTunes for quite a bit to put the titles of my songs but I realized it doesn't actually update the metadata on the files themselves.

I started renaming the files (copying the name of the file and pasting it on the title) but doing it one by one is a huge pain in the a$$, I have a +1000 songs library (I'm a DJ, i have to, I cannot rely on online music).

Is there a way to just select all the files and make them have the name of each archive as their title? It's fine if I have to fix one here and there if they go wrong, I just don't wanna spend weeks doing this. (see screenshot for ref. the names appear but some titles don't.)

Doesn't matter if it is a command prompt script or a program, whatever helps will be truly appreciated!

I did touch indexing options, but I don't think that changed anything because the folder I was trying to search was already marked as indexed.

But I think uninstalling Cortana actually gave me the ability to search through my files at windows 7 speeds. I also stopped windows apps from running and uninstalled a bunch of the windows bloatware.

I really wanna blame Cortana cause I hate it, but idk what happened.

Today I feel like a parent watching his baby walk for the first time :)

Windows automatically changing default audio device?

Hi, looking for some help for when windows will automatically change my default audio device whenever I connect my Bluetooth speaker. I want my default audio device to remain as my headphones - otherwise some apps decide they want to play through a non existent speaker when it isn't connected - and yet every time I connect my speaker, windows overrides my default device to my speaker, and I have to manually change it back every time.

Blu-ray Authoring Software?

I have a stack of blank Blu-Ray BD-R-DL discs 50GB, a proper blu-ray burner and my .mp4 dance recital movie file ~20GB. I'm desperately trying to author a blu-ray disc that will work with the blu-ray player at the drive-in movie theater that is going to host this movie in 2 weeks.

Any software suggestions?

Resetting a PC when you have a different product key

My laptop has been running poorly and the thing that has been stopping me from doing a reset while keeping personal files is the fact that I changed my product key.

I have Windows 10 Education; the key was given to me by my university, but my main concern is if I do a reset and keep personal files, will i still have Education or will it revert back to what I had when I got my laptop? If it will revert, is there any way to keep it? And does it also matter if I reinstall windows via cloud or local?

News Ticket Style Application?

Hey all, I'm looking for a Windows application that I've been hoping to find a solution for for a while now, without much luck.

I'm looking for a scrolling news ticket, like the ones we've all seen at Times Square, for instance, or the bottom of a newscast.

It would be great if I could specify the sources, or even use RSS to fill it, but I'm most interested in simply getting something I can have scrolling.

I figured I would see if there is anyone here who might have an idea!

Windows embedded standard?

HP elitebook Gf's mom's work gave it to her and she didn't need it. I wiped the drive with clean sweep to erase medical info. Now I have no OS. How to I get 7 back on? I have no key to activate windows. Is it worth it to buy windows again or just buy a new laptop for work? It's like $100 for windows on an old ass laptop vs $200-$300 for a new one.Just use it to flash car audio modules. TIA
