- I am new to pc gaming and I wanted to upgrade my ram. I just don’t know what ram sticks are comparable with my motherboard I have a ASUS / MSI / ASRock. I am looking to get 32gb of ram in total (2x16gbs) if anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated.

Graphics Cards are extremely hard to come by, selling out instantly even at inflated prices and being resold on the second hand market for many times their original retail price. However the issues run deeper than this with a combination of Covid-19, cryptocurrency mining, tariffs, production limitations and other supply and demand factors coinciding to mean that finding graphics cards, CPUs and some other components has become incredibly frustrating. We all want to build great PCs, and right now it's hard and that sucks. We ask for your help during these shortages by requesting that you pay mind to the following:
In the meantime there are ways to build a PC now despite the GPU shortage: You could build a stop-gap system with graphics output integrated into the CPU or search for cheaper older used cards such as the AMD RX480/570/580 or Nvidia GTX 970/1060. Cards with less than 4GB VRAM are no longer optimal for mining and so may be more readily available. There are many possible solutions, and we're sure the buildapc community can help you if you need a PC right now and can't wait for supply to catch up to demand. | Is there such a thing as a "good" gaming chair? Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:03 AM PDT My kid is 12, loves gaming, is getting into streaming and sees all of his heroes with a racing styled gaming chair. Of course, he now wants one. Which is...fine. I know the general consensus is that they're trash, but are there any good ones? Or some that are better than others? He's 12, so the chair being smallish or not having enough seat cushion for a 250lb man are not major concerns. I'm more interested in upholstery durability and general build quality. | Looking to build a PC for school and hobby for under $250 Posted: 28 Jun 2021 07:20 AM PDT Hi! I'm looking to build a computer to upgrade or replace my current one. It's a Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 with 8gb of ram, Intel i5 2400 cpu, I think it's integrated gpu maybe. Also has a 2 tb HDD that I'm pretty sure is failing. My tower case also has a stray electric current coming from somewhere that causes me to feel an electric current when I touch certain areas (this doesn't happen everyday). However, I'm wanting to build a PC that is capable of booting up quickly and loading images quickly. Furthermore, I need to have at least 2tb of hard disk storage, because of record management and bulk photo downloads. It also needs to be able to handle multiple applications and browsers running at once. I would like to possibly have an SSD to run the OS and then a separate HDD for storage? Is that possible? With my next paycheck I'm planning on about $1200-$1300 being used for my new pc. Should I look for a good prebuilt or try and buy parts and build it myself? Parts were not exactly easy to find at MSRP so intent to build a SUPER budget pc turned into a modest mid-rangey new PC, here's the parts list. Google says "Chipset determines expansion options, part compatibility", but why the hell would you choose or care about a Chipset? If motherboard has these RAM and socket and PCIe slots, then they are compatible, because who would make a motherboard with incompatible slots? So what is chipset really? I am mainly looking to see if anyone has some advice on how to make it better without spending much more or potentially less. The computer will be used for Music production, Gaming, and general use. | FYI in case anyone else has the same issue with MSi Z490I mobo Posted: 28 Jun 2021 02:15 PM PDT Short story, tried to update BIOS from 7C77v16 to 7C77v18, didn't touch anything else, no hw changes, everything went fine during the update until the reboot, CPU light on, no display, BRICKED. Already tried to "clear the CMOS", disconnected the battery, change RAM, PSU, double checked the CPU and CPU pins, SSD, etc. The last attempt was to find the BIOS chip to flash another version but wasn't able to, seems the chip is hidden, so is not so easy to reach it with the USB programmer. I'm trying to reach MSI and see if my warranty is still valid. [link] [comments]  |

On my old motherboard I have an NVME SSD and a 2 TB HDD connected, if I connect the SSD and HDD straight to the new mobo will it work/boot like normal or will I have to do another step for it to work/boot? | Posted: 28 Jun 2021 09:08 AM PDT I currently have a Ryzen 7 1700, only to find out today that it won't be supported on Windows 11. I however have TPM 2.0 enabled and working, so is that the only issue with compatibility for Windows 11? Or do I actually need a supported processor from Microsoft's list? I don't mind upgrading to a 3600 or 3300x if needed, but my second question would be how long will the 4 core 3300x last me in terms of future proofing? | Seeking RAM advice (5+years assumed) Posted: 28 Jun 2021 03:45 PM PDT So I'm building a gaming/everyday use PC that I plan to stick with for the next 5 years or so For information sake my prior build was using these Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB DDR3 1600 MHz CAS Latency 10 Timing 10-10-10-27 My current build I'm considering Crucial Ballistix 3600 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 2x 8gb OR 2x 16GB Latency 16 Timing 16-18-18-38 https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K16G36C16U4B/dp/B083TRXZ98 The old build is using 15-2500k with the corair and I can easily hit 80%+ load on both with my normal habits if i boot up a modest (read older or small) games without killing whatever else i'm up to and things start to really chug at that point if I switch what i'm focusing on, while it evens out to decent after abit, a more demanding game i'm pretty much having to close everything BUT the game since my other stuff can eat up 50-70% (so 8-11ish GBs of ram) So I was looking at motherboards for my build and surprised myself getting a nice z490 mini itx board for way way under its normal price used not bruised. (also i5- 10600k for reference) Now I started by planning to get 2x 8gb sticks and maybe another 2 if things end up more demanding in the next few years BUT the mini board only has 2 slots for ram so that conservative plan won't work. i have to choose now if i'm ending up with 16 or 32 long run since it'd be a wasteful to upgrade midway. IF i was judging by my current ram i would jump to 32 gb for sure because its just barely cutting it at 16. That said I understand that better ram can use less of its potential to accomplish the same task and the new ram (and well everything else) is much stronger then the old one. So I'm asking considering I don't care to drop everything else when I want to play a game and its not unusual for me to use 10gb of ram in general use on the old build would you all think I'd be ok with 16gb of stronger ram or should I just bite the bullet, grab the 32 gb and be done with it [link] [comments]  |

What about anything else? The reason I ask is because the room I have my PC in is it separated from the main house, and has very poor air conditioning. Snapped on it, barely could boot into windows with lots of BSOD and then browser tab crash like mad, then I ran a memtest86 and gave me so much error, guess I will return? [link] [comments]  |
