What games are actually allowed by OnePlus to run at 90/120 Hz on the OnePlus 9/Pro ?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 11:00 AM PDT

I heard that OnePlus isn't allowing all the natively running 120 Hz games to take advantage of the display, which is a God damn shame. Thing is that I'm awaiting my phone delivery by next week.

To hear this kind of thing is somewhat disheartening. Is there a fix for this in the works, is OnePlus going to do something, or are we just doomed?

Same goes for 4k60 and above filming. Why the f does it have a 5 minutes max on it? That's just ridiculous.

Edit:// To clarify, because certain people just want to attack instead of help: I am STILL EXCITED for the phone. The camera, the performance, the display and all. But it's 1 or 2 things that I want to make SURE are the way they are, IF it is correct what I read. Some people are just so damn rude, no manners whatsoever.

I just received the system update notification OS 11.0.02.HD65AA . I have one plus 7t 256gb/8gb ram. Should I update it?

I heard pretty bad things about os11. I know many people are experts here related to one plus stuff. So should I stay on OS 10 or go for OS 11. Thanks for helping!

PSA: How to disable the volume up + power button shortcut that sets calls to vibrate

    Posted: 01 May 2021 11:59 AM PDT

Hey, I recently found a fix for the problem many people have complained about here and in the OnePlus forums where, when the Volume Up and Power buttons are pressed simultaneously, all calls and notifications are set to vibrate. As others have noted, this can be super annoying especially considering the Alert Slider obviates the need for any such shortcut. The amount of people claiming to have never had the issue seems to point to it being a remnant of a setting the user had enabled on a previous Android phone which then persisted upon migrating to the OnePlus phone (where, for some reason, there is no user-accessible option to turn it off).

Anyways, TL;DR: Use the below adb command and it should disable the shortcut.

adb shell settings put secure volume_hush_gesture 0

This fixed it for me on my OnePlus 7T running Oxygen OS 11.0.0.2.HD65AA. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me! All credit goes to this post on the OnePlus forums. I'm just doing my best to pay it forward!

Also, in case you're not familiar, here's a link describing adb and how it works. You'll need to at the very least download the Android SDK Platform-Tools package (which is included in the SDK Manager, but that's probably overkill if you're not a developer) and enable USB debugging on your phone. Most phones have this setting in Developer options, which by default is hidden. To make them visible, you should go to Settings > About phone and tap Build number seven times.

So, I'm thinking about installing Pixel Experience in my 7 Pro, any of you use it? how is it?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 08:42 AM PDT

I've used before on my 6, until the last minute actually, but when I've got the 7 pro I got scared because of the fp in display, didn't know if modders could take advantage of that in custom roms, but it has been over two years now. Any of you use? Is it good? some problem I should know about?

Why in the world do I have to "apply" to unlock my bootloader?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 07:38 PM PDT

I've spent two solid days working on rooting my oneplus 8t, and I haven't even been able to unlock the bootloader.

I followed every guide that I could but nothing worked, but when I search the error I eventually came to the OnePlus support website, where it asked me to input my serial number, imie, and email, and said they would send me an unlock code in A WEEK. As far as my understanding goes it has to do with being a T-Mobile model, but is there no way around it? And isn't it absolutely ridiculous that I have to apply for and wait to use my own phone the way I want to?

I just feel like this is absolutely ridiculous. I bought the phone in the first place so I could wipe off all the crap I didn't need and completely rebuild it software-wise, but I had to make an account to remove the necessity of me having an account in the first place!

Yet another OnePlus + Verizon (USA) MMS/SMS post

    Posted: 01 May 2021 02:53 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I apologize in advance for this because I've searched this sub and seen how many people have issues with their OnePlus phones and Verizon. At this point, I'm at a loss for what to do and might just be looking to vent. But I do have a very small glimmer of hope that someone knows some obscure solution that will help.

    1. I have a OnePlus 9 5G (not Pro) unlocked, purchased from the OnePlus US website. I am on a prepaid phone plan with Total Wireless (which uses Verizon's network). Phone and internet service works fine (as far as I can tell) and I can send messages. My problem is with receiving them.

    2. My MMS (group messages and picture messages) has not worked from Day 1. I would receive notification of group messages but be unable to download the message.

    3. My SMS was not working at first but started to work once I called Total Wireless about CDMA Less provisioning. Two days ago, around the time I installed the Oxygen 11 update, I stopped receiving SMS and MMS entirely. I don't even get the indicator that I've receive a MMS ready to download.

    4. I tried getting and activating a new SIM card today. Didn't work. Total Wireless has checked and CDMA Less is apparently still activated and HD Voice comes automatically with the plan so it shouldn't be off.

    5. Google Messages is (I think?) the default app for One Plus 9 phones. So, I can't even "switch" to Google Messages from the "stock" messaging app.

    6. I was on the phone with Total Wireless for 2 hours and they're finally contacting Verizon on my behalf. We tried messing with the APN settings. They had me send like 10 pictures to myself. They updated... Something... On the network. I've restarted my phone about 20 times. I'm still not receiving anything.

I'm just about at my wit's end. Verizon is going to get back to Total Wireless within 72 hours, then I have to call Total Wireless to see what they said. At this point, I'm considering switching to the T-Mobile network which (I've heard) has less compatibility issues with One Plus?

I've had the phone since launch so I can no longer return it. Had I known how many issues there were with simple phone functions like receiving my messages, I never would have switched from my shitty Samsung phone....

If you've made it this far, thanks for listening. Again, sorry for cluttering up the feed with yet another technical issue. Help me, r/oneplus... You're my only hope.

Is it possible to fix at least a couple of OnePlus 7 Pro issues?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 02:45 PM PDT

Been using friend's iPhone X for a while recently (never used any Apple products before) and after switching back I noticed how bad and frustrating to use OP7 pro actually is.

    1. Autorotation - when I flick the phone into landscape it pauses for a second before even playing the animation. Looks like preprogrammed delay and not CPU bottleneck. Online videos are even worse and can take few more seconds to go fullscreen.

    2. Touch sensitivity/accuracy, especially when typing. I have big thumbs, but despite that had almost no typos on much smaller IPhone's screen with tiny keys compared to gboard with biggest possible size set in options. On OnePlus I can't type a single sentence without having to correct typos. Dictionary is out of the question since my native language is highly inflected, rendering suggestions useless. It makes typing in English a bit better though.

    3. Automatic brightness. My OnePlus routinely goes so dark that I almost can't read what's on the screen for no apparent reason (no room lightning change). Moreover, it does that even when I'm actually looking at the screen for a while, browsing the web or watching YouTube. I need to pull down the top bar and adjust manually so I can actually see the content.

    4. Fingerprint reader - every other week or so I have to delete and add all my fingerprints since it gradually stops recognizing them on the lockscreen It seems like sometimes 3 out of 4 tries fail. I never had any issues with a fingerprint reader on an almost 20 year old IBM ThinkPad, yet OP struggles to remember how my fingers look like.

Any ideas on how to fix those? Maybe there's a custom ROM that alleviates these issues a little bit or has a config for some of these frustrating "features"?

    OnePlus 9R global

    Posted: 01 May 2021 02:32 PM PDT

I live in India as of now but I'm actually based in Italy. Will there be global support for the 9R or should I just buy the 8T? By support I mean software updates and bandwidth as well since they're only concerned about India currently.

    One plus 7T pro

    Posted: 01 May 2021 06:00 PM PDT

Mine is nowhere near as snappy as it used to be.

The fingerprint reader has become near impossible to use.

I get 1 shot out of 10 on the camera that doesn't come out as blurry (I knew it wasn't great to start with but it has really degraded).

    My keyboard lags to load.

And other minor inconveniences that add up...

Is it just me? I have installed a few new apps lately so that could be why.

Just venting, but I was hoping this that this phone would last a little longer.

Oneplus 8 (visible) finally got the OIS 11 update. It looks fine so far.

    Posted: 01 May 2021 08:49 AM PDT

The previous patch was only 2020/9 security patch. Since not many people have this version of phone, I can't wait too long to gather the feedback. So I did it right away anyway, despite the fear of many negative posts here.

The new update is OOS 11.1 IN68CE

It turns out everything is working fine. I don't like the new setting arrangement. Need more time to check battery usage. Will report back. Good luck to all users of this phone.

Looking for a OnePlus 9 case - not a lot of options

    Posted: 01 May 2021 10:19 AM PDT

Hello! I just purchased the OnePlus 9 and I'm super excited! It should be a good upgrade from my 6T. I'm looking for a case for it, but there really are not a lot of options. I was wondering if there are any other phone types that cases will fit? For example, will a 9pro case fit the 9? And does anyone know of any nice sites to get cases from? I'm not looking for crazy protection, just something cute and fun. Thanks!

Can I Get AUX Cameras to work with rooted OOS 11 or OOS Stock Camera App on rooted Custom Rom?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 08:43 AM PDT

    Hello guys,

I have a OnePlus Nord and the 2x Zoom in the Stock Camera App is using the full 48MP Sensor for the 2x Zoom. This way, It really is like an optical zoom and not interpolating the image like in GCam (which is limited to 2x upscaling a 12MP image).

My Problem is: I also want to use the ultrawide lenses in apps other than the stock app (like GCam or Filmic Pro etc.) and this doesn't work with the current OOS 11 I'm currently running on.

So are there possibilities to realize one of the following methods:

    1. Stay on OOS 11, root it and install maybe a Magisk Module to enable all AUX cameras for 3rd party apps?
    2. Use a custom Rom (which enables all AUX cameras) and get the Stock OOS Camera App running on that (to use the "real" 2x zoom instead of the digital one)

Another solution would be to downgrade to OOS 10, which seems to support the AUX cameras for 3rd party apps. But I don't want to stay there forever.

I would appreciate your feedback or comments :)

Hi I'm looking at the OnePlus buds for my 7t pro. Are they worth it ? I think I've seen some good/bad reviews so need to know how common the issues that cashed the bad reviews are

What custom ROM should I be using for my OnePlus 6?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 07:52 AM PDT

The last time I used a custom ROM on any phone was my Galaxy S4 and I had only one good option back then. Now, I have at least 8 or 9 different decent choices.

Because of the announcement that OOS11 is only coming out near August (and knowing OnePlus, that really means I can only safely use it in September/October), I want to switch to a custom ROM instead.

I want a ROM that has as many of these features as possible:

    • screen-off gestures
    • ambient display
    • passes SafetyNet (and is compatible with apps in the same way that stock OOS is)
    • is encrypted
    • has the OOS camera app
    • has OOS face unlock (I suspect I'm not going to get this though, and I guess that's fine if it has everything else)
    • supports Dash Charging
    • has OTA updates
    • is on Android 11 (forgot that it's better for OnePlus to release it first)

Other than that, I think most ROMs have mostly the same customization features and whatnot.

Can't see updates for OnePlus apps in the my apps section of the PlayStore.

    Posted: 01 May 2021 01:39 PM PDT

The title basically. There were 3-4 OnePlus apps that had updates. I wasn't able to see them in the my apps page of the PlayStore. I updated each app by searching for it. I'm on the OnePlus 9 and this is my first OnePlus phone. Don't know if this is how it works (surely it's a bug?).

Just want to put my battery life on the OnePlus 9 Pro out there

    Posted: 30 Apr 2021 08:28 PM PDT

    Full day of usage

This is what my battery life breakdown looks like with a full day of usage. Woke up before 8am, and took this screenshot just after 9pm, with an apparent 2 hours of battery life left at 16%. For reference, Screen Usage took 44%, and I believe that's only because I had my phone turned on at full brightness with Maps up for nearly 2 straight hours today.

One of the greatest things about getting a new phone (at least to me) is being able to get through the whole day without having to plug in my phone. This phone absolutely accomplishes that. And on days with heavy usage, I've always been a fan of dash or warp charge on the OnePlus. It makes it super easy to plug in my phone for 10 or 20 minutes before I have to leave and not worry about the battery life.

This is my third OnePlus phone, and I'm honestly always consistently happy with them.

Does the 7T come with a pre-installed screen protector?

    Posted: 01 May 2021 06:34 AM PDT

    Hi,

I just bought a new 7T (not pro) from OnePlus, not branded. I can't tell if there's actually a screen protector on it. Either it doesn't have one or it's perfectly installed.

    Can anyone confirm?

    Thanks

    Help Please.

    Posted: 01 May 2021 06:07 AM PDT

I currently have the T-Mobile variant of the OP7 Pro that's been flashed with International firmware and after accidentally upgrading to Android 11 (because of the update notification that refuses to go away, there is just an annoying "download and install" button stuck on my screen) I've been met with nothing but issues.

While obviously that isn't news to any of you, but unfortunately my device has been rendered completely unusable. I got the top left screen glitch, then the black lock screen glitch when I tried to change the resolution to FHD, then when I gave up and tried to turn back to QHD again, now the screen won't even turn on.

Tried forcefully shutting down, but I can't tell if it is off or not considering the screen won't give me any indication of it being off. I don't even get any vibration or anything. Plugging in the charger gives me the vibration but that's about it. This was a perfectly good device, but this update didn't just inconvenience me, it broke the device. This is ridiculous, this was exactly why I avoided the beta. To not have to deal with this. Now that it's been forced on me, this happens?

I give up. I don't even care about my data at this point. If I can please get some help to at least downgrade back to Android 10 that would be extremely helpful. I know the MSM tool is a method, but since I can't even get my phone to turn off, I don't know what to do.
