I switched recently from Oxygen OS to Lineage OS Posted: 31 May 2021 06:58 AM PDT [Long post warning] I have an OnePlus 6 and as you might be aware, OnePlus updates for older devices aren't so good. The last time I received an official update was about a year back. It was running Android 10 with an age old security patch. When android 12 was announced, I couldn't wait to try it out but knew for sure that OnePlus is not going to release updates for me. I was a bit sceptical to switch to Lineage (I have been using Lineage on my OnePlus one before op6) but eventually made a call. Did all the backup stuff and flashed with Lineage 18.1. Honestly, the experience is way too better now. I love every moment of the clean stock android experience. The animations are super smooth, the ambient display is a killer feature and battery life has improved significantly (I have almost 90% of all my usual apps installed and running). I have already had a bad experience last year with OnePlus service when the device had a screen burn and now, realising how much better updated android could be, I'm starting to lose my loyalty to the brand. They're quite focussed on moving ahead but not much on retention. Coming back to the OS, almost everything works as expected except for the face unlock. Maybe I could try a magisk module but not interested at this point. Has anyone else switched to a different OS in a OnePlus device? What's your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
It's a shame it's cheaper to buy another phone than replace the screen Posted: 31 May 2021 04:08 PM PDT I have had a 7 Pro for over a year now and I still really like it. Even after the Android update I haven that any issues and the phone is just as responsive as when I got it. Unfortunately I dropped my phone screen side down on pavers and the screen cracked. I didn't think much of it as I am pretty good at repairing phones and I just assumed I could get a new screen for a reasonable price and replace it myself. Nope. After a few days of research there is almost no option other than sending it to OnePlus for a $200ish fix. There are no replacement screens available other than maybe one or two on Amazon for over $200. No local places will repair it nor will T-Mobile. Turns out I can get a used one of the exact same model for under $200 on swappa, so that is what I did. It is a shame though from a recycling standpoint that it is cheaper for me to buy an entire new phone than to simply replace a screen. [link] [comments] |
Shall I get the OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 8T? Posted: 31 May 2021 01:31 AM PDT I use my phone for heavy games and media consumption. For media consumption, I want little lags and for games, j want little heating and for drops. I also want a good battery life and decent nice display. In my region, the 9 is 100 USD more than 8T, is it worth it? How is OxegenOs? How does it compare to Exynos S21 and Mi 11? [link] [comments] |
Icon packs not working properly Posted: 31 May 2021 05:14 PM PDT I uninstalled an icon pack in the stock launcher and some of the icons from that pack still remained on most of my apps. I then tried resetting the icon pack to the system default and hardly any of my apps were updated. I also tried wiping the system cache, which didn't do anything either. Any help is appreciated. How to fix your op7/8 pro battery drain problem after the last update. Posted: 31 May 2021 05:04 PM PDT So this is a very easy fix. Turns out after the last update all apps gained intelligent control in your optimize battery options. To fix set all apps battery options from intelligent to optimize and turn off optimized charging. Thats it. I went from draining 26% every hour in standby to ~1% every couple hours. It now preforms as it did before the update and fixes the sluggish ui after the update. I hope this helps others out. It seems the update was optimized for the newly released op9 series and not the last two gens. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 04:57 PM PDT So my 6T has almost run its course, it's an incredible phone and it lasted me 3 years but it's time to upgrade. I've seen a lot of you say the 7T pro is the best phone they've ever made, and the McLaren edition is pretty affordable now. I'm essentially just asking if it had any issues that didn't occur with the regular 7T pro. I'm not totally sold on it, I'll probably get a regular one, but it's beautiful and I'm a fan of their F1 team so I can't help but be tempted by it [link] [comments] |
Constantly getting "Aw, Snap!" on chrome on OP6 Posted: 31 May 2021 08:02 AM PDT Can anyone advise any solution for this? I've cleared the cache, reset the phone, reinstalled chrome etc and can't find a solution. It happens pretty frequently while web browsing and it's driving me nuts. [link] [comments] |
Is the Sandstone and clear case worth it? Posted: 31 May 2021 04:43 PM PDT Bought an 8t for $580 after student discount and sales. Came with a sandstone case. I really hate the typical "Amazon 8t cases" and wanted to know if the sandstone case is good, and/or the clear case is good as well… [link] [comments] |
Which OP phones have DC dimming, and did it fix PWM sensitivity for you? Posted: 31 May 2021 07:40 PM PDT I have PWM sensitivity and considered a OP phone to avoid it. But I saw only some models have it and further it has been removed from some older models.
Thanks! (I saw you can toggle DC dimming in older phones with ADB, but there are inconsistent reports about whether this still works or works correctly) [link] [comments] |
OP8T OTA Update Fails: Installation Problem Posted: 31 May 2021 06:31 PM PDT Basically, the same thing described here is happening to me: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-8t-ota-update-failed-installation-problem.1418339/ It happened for the April update, which I ended up just downloading from the OP support site and doing a local upgrade. However, the same thing is happening with the May update now and it's really strange.. Phone is rooted, 5G forced enabled through carrier policy files with QPST (but carrier policy was only modified after April update, so that should not be the cause, or at least wasn't previously). I don't mind downloading the update from the OP support site again, but their shitty site only has the April update posted.. and the Open Beta file link leads to a 404 page. See: https://www.oneplus.com/ca_en/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1605596915581 Wtf OnePlus.. was anyone able to correct this? I'd call their support who have been very nice so far but they seem extremely unknowledgeable and just reading off a script. [link] [comments] |
OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition Android 11 Overheating Posted: 31 May 2021 05:58 PM PDT Android Version: 11 These are the following issues I've noticed after updating my phone to Android 11 since the March? Security Patch, and these are in comparison to Android 10 previously.
I really do not want to restart my phone every time these things happen. Does anyone have a solution? I've cleared cache after each update, but it doesn't seem to work. [link] [comments] |
Will flashing a custom ROM allow me to use VoWIFI? Posted: 31 May 2021 08:38 AM PDT Hi, I have a OP 6t and I live in Canada and use Koodo. They don't support the OP phones for VoWifi/VoLTE. I followed a guide on XDA on how to get it working, and eventually I did... But after the newest update it stopped working again. I don't want to have to jump through hoops every time it updates. If I install a custom ROM will VoWifi work without hassle? I've never used a custom ROM before. Any suggestions on which I should use? I absolutely need VoWifi to work, and honestly I'd switch to another phone to make it happen, but I like the 6t and I'd rather not. [link] [comments] |
OnePlus 8 on Verizon unable to turn off 5G? Posted: 31 May 2021 05:10 PM PDT I tried going to settings and putting the default network to manual -> Verizon 4G, but it still says 5G on the status bar. [link] [comments] |
Oneplus 8T won't receive calls Posted: 31 May 2021 11:19 AM PDT I just recently got an Oneplus 8T and cannot receive calls on sim 1 in my dual sim. Have 2 Sims in my phone one for work and one for personal use and can send and receive calls on my work sim (sim 2) but cannot receive calls on my personal (sim 1). Has any one has this problem with their 8T or know of a fix for it before I start to Badger Oneplus? TIA [link] [comments] |
Evolution X or crdroid for OP6 Posted: 31 May 2021 02:19 PM PDT He's there, I am thinking about switching to the custom ROM because oneplus 6 won't get many updates and OOS 11 will be probably buggy and so on. That's one from many reasons. My needs are relatively fast updates (one per month is OK for me), customization is somehow needed for me, safetynet pass and using Gpay and banking apps plus Netflix too. Magisk add-on zips and so on would be cool too, but I guess those one are supported always. And yes, we don't know that support for those custom ROMs for Android 12 and next major updates, but if there is someone, who has some experiences with one of those ROMs or even both, it would be cool. I don't really see many differences between those two ROMs as both are customizable etc, but is there is major difference which can make me choose one over another? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 May 2021 07:23 AM PDT There are several gcam ports available for the 8t and I wanted to know which is the best one to use. Links would be appreciated :) [link] [comments] |
new 8T just didn't come with the clear case Posted: 31 May 2021 06:16 AM PDT my new 8T got delivered today and was surprised to find no clear case in the box. Weird because I thought it was meant to come with the clear one that said never settle on it. Any one know why? [link] [comments] |
Total dilemma about choosing a flagship phone in today's market Posted: 31 May 2021 02:55 AM PDT I have a question. My first flagship phone was 1+6T, then i upgraded to 1+7, then to 7T, then to 7 Pro and recently I sold my 7 Pro to buy the 8 Pro. I know 9 Pro is already launched but avoided it due to its high price and low value when compared to 8 Pro. But my 8 Pro had horrible black crush issues and even the replacement that was sent to me by Amazon has same issues. So I am returning that as well tomorrow to get a refund. Can someone please suggest me which flagship should I buy now? UI and OS experience is very important to me. So I will never buy a phone with MIUI or FunTouch OS etc. I will only consider either OxygenOS or OneUI. But can't seem to find a good phone around 60K (India) budget other than 1+9 Pro. What should I do? Go with 9 Pro? Or wait for Google Pixel 6 etc. But I think even that will be very expensive. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 11:38 AM PDT I wanted to know about OnePlus Nord, From you guys as I was thinking of going for it but can't make up my mind, So I'll appreciate it if you guys can tell me about somethings How are the camera's, as from what I've read they're not that good, but are they as bad as people' say they are. How is the processor, any hiccups or lags that the phone has or used to have when you bought it? Any OS issues with the latest one as I read somewhere that Android 11 was a mess, and people even shifted back to 10. And did they fix it? How does the battery holds up? And is it worth the price for long-term? [link] [comments] |

Toxicity of the OnePlus community on the community app Posted: 31 May 2021 04:43 AM PDT Has anyone else experienced it? Every thread I make where I look for help with something I get bombarded with hate because I am upset at OnePlus because shit on my device isn't working because of a buggy update. Or like I made a thread where I said I guess it's official the 7 series won't get AoD because that's what the official OnePlus support said to me I got hated on because it's apparently "useless thread for such a rumor"??? That's the point of my thread, stating that it isn't a rumor anymore and that it's official since OnePlus just confirmed it. Geez you'd swear you swore at their mother. I'm not sure if it's every camp but I didn't experience this when I was a Samsung user from their community. [link] [comments] |
Call Recording Disabled post latest OP update? Posted: 31 May 2021 03:12 AM PDT While I still see the option to record a call while talking, it doesn't save the record anymore. Any idea what's up? I'm from india if that helps. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 May 2021 05:21 AM PDT Last year I got myself a new phone, changing my 4 year old One Plus 3 at the time. But the buttons of the One Plus 3 had been broken before the I got my new phone, but because I always had my charger with me I never had the issue of turning the power back after a battery drainage. Now, 1 year later and after the battery has been drained, I don't have a way to power on the Phone because of the broken buttons. And it's not only the power button, but all buttons, including the volume up and down. Is there a way to power on the phone without using the buttons? [link] [comments] |
