Any reliable way to get chrome-like tabs in Files Explorer? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 05:53 AM PDT this feature is so simple that it's really a shame Microsoft still didn't add it. for years I used Clover as it was perfect for the task it seemed and it even supports the same shortcuts of Chrome and other browsers, but lately I found it is really full of Chinese malware and caused my laptop's battery life to drop to half and it got removed by MalwareBytes when I scanned my computer. I would really appreciate any advice to get the tabs again as I grew used to them and reverting back to the old way seems like a huge downgrade. Thanks in advance for any advice or help attempt. Why is this feature still not done yet? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 10:48 AM PDT I am a Windows user. Straight-up. It does everything I need it to do. No, I'm not strictly a Windows user: I often use Linux (Manjaro KDE, to be specific), and I have used macOS a few times, although I don't own a Mac. There; I got that off my chest. Now for my complaint: one of many. How is dark mode still not fully implemented? I'll bet there are several reasons for it, but still: I heavily use dark mode, and when I come across an application that doesn't support it, I'm immediately brought back to the reality that this may not change for a long time if ever, just because of the way things are. Many applications for Windows are written with the .NET Framework; and sure, Microsoft could release a new version of the framework that has things like system color support, but that's its own problem. Why? Because Microsoft can't really alter the old frameworks (at least not without breaking something), and if a certain application doesn't receive updates and/or the developer of said application is not willing to port it over to the new framework, you're basically SOL. Now, I think it might be possible for Microsoft to write a sort of add-on that's completely separate from the applications, but that intercepted the calls to the renderer to change the colors of the UI of the applications; or at least some of them, anyway. So what do you all think about this? I'd like to hear your opinions. [link] [comments]
How to hide app icons on desktop? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 04:28 PM PDT I have a windows laptop and I was wondering if there's any way to hide app icons that are located on my desktop since they are already pinned to my task bar. I know you're able to hide everything that's saved to your desktop but I only want to hide certain things rather than everything on my desktop. Can anyone help me out with this? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 03:24 PM PDT I am about to upgrade my PC with a new Hard Drive, RAM and Optical Drive and I was wondering should I stick with Windows 10 or go to Windows 7. I use a Dell Optiplex 7010 and it has both a Windows 10 and Windows 7 product key on it. Should I put Windows 7, Windows 10 or dual boot. (btw I use my PC for web browsing, gaming via Steam and E-mail.) [link] [comments]

Posted: 27 Apr 2021 10:39 AM PDT It's called Xbox Game Bar. Though it's intended for gaming and streaming, I wonder if I can make some tweaks to turn it into a productivity tool, or maybe there are some software products with similar features? (Some "floating widgets"?) I mean I want to bring up some widgets, like a timer, a calendar, and a to-do list, and also hide them all with a keyboard shortcut. That way I don't even need to switch windows. But anyway, it's a super handy shortcut to open the volume mixer and the task manager! [link] [comments]

Does Windows still run less reliably than MacOS? Posted: 27 Apr 2021 02:20 AM PDT I apologize if this is trite or too noobie for this sub. I haven't used Windows for more than an hour at a time in 8 years. I've had my MacBook pro since 2013 and I can recall one software issue that I fixed immediately over that span. It truly just works. I will be getting a new laptop sometime this year and I am strongly considering buying a PC as I will now need Windows for some school stuff. So my question: Does Windows still run less reliably than MacOS? I've heard that there are always issues with driver updates for your devices or inconvenient software updates that you can't bypass. On a somewhat related note, I heard that you can't jump right back into work on Windows when opening your laptop like you can with a Mac. How true is all of this? Thanks! [link] [comments]
Posted: 27 Apr 2021 01:56 AM PDT I have one SSD and one HDD in my PC. I just saw my Hdd size is decreasing. I refresh and it's 37.4GB. I refresh and 37.3GB. I refresh and it's 37.2GB. Honestly, what's happening?? [link] [comments]
DeliveryOptimization Folder On D Drive Posted: 27 Apr 2021 01:22 AM PDT On my not-system D drive, I have a folder called DeliveryOptimization. I have read that this is a temporary folder but why do I have it on D drive? I have changed my Windows app directory to D from C. Is this related to that? Please help. Thanks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 26 Apr 2021 09:10 PM PDT Not sure if the right sub to post in but I'd like some help figuring out a way to have multiple users access and use the same PC at the same time on different screens. My main setup has 2 screens but I have a new TV connected and usually drag the apps to the TV to watch Netflix or game. However, when my girlfriend tries to change the video or go to a different website, I have to stop what I'm doing and let her use the other keyboard. I am wondering if there is anything built in that allows for 2 separate windows instances or I will need to have another OS in a Virtualbox or similar. I also wonder if both the host and VirtualBox client can be used at the same time without interruptions. [link] [comments]
