Posted: 30 Mar 2021 12:08 PM PDT I'm using an S10+ (with root) on Android 11, I'm looking for a feature I used to have in custom ROMs on older phones, double tapping the status bar to sleep/lock the phone. Only thing I have found that does that is Super Status Bar, but the app is very buggy and often stops working. Is there any other option out there, with root or without? Thanks. [link] [comments]  |
| How do I get Google Photos to sort my pictures properly? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:15 AM PDT From what I understand Google Photos sorts your pictures by Date Taken according to EXIF metadata. If there's no EXIF data it simply uses the filesystem's Date Modified attribute, which on Android is the closest thing to date created on the file system. I want Google Photos to sort by date modified. Why? Let's say I have a sample image, mikasa.jpg. This file is a fanart that was created in June 30th, 2015, and I downloaded from the internet today, March 30th, 2021. Now the logical thing is that since I downloaded today, it would be put at the top of the Download folder because it's the most recent picture in the filesystem. Makes sense, right? Right. So now I wanna share this fanart with a friend. When I go to my gallery to share it, I can't find it. It's nowhere to be seen even though I just downloaded. It turns out, because it was made 2015, Google Photos will put it all the way to the bottom of the Downloads folder. How am I even supposed to know it was there? The more images I get off the internet that have EXIF data like this, the messier my gallery becomes. It's such a ridiculous design oversight that Google refuses to fix. It's like they expect that people will never, ever use their gallery for anything other than pictures taken directly from their phones which have perfect metadata embedded in them. This has been my number 1 issue with Android since I switched from iOS. Yes, there are gallery apps that can sort by date modified, but usually they are way behind in terms of UI/UX in comparison to Google Photos, especially with the video player. I thought that a solution could be to use exiftool via Termux, strip all metadata from those images and then Google Photos would sort them properly. But no, they don't. They stay exactly where they are even after having all metadata deleted. I cleared the cache and storage of the app, it's not using an account (offline and all images are local-only), the images contain no other metadata than the filesystem dates. And yet STILL, STILL AFTER A COMPLETE WIPE OF THE APP, GOOGLE PHOTOS WILL PUT THAT IMAGE IN 2015, OR WHEREVER ELSE, BUT NOT THE DATE MODIFIED. WHERE IS IT EVEN GETTING THAT DATA FROM? I've tried with multiple other files, rebooted my phone and everything, it's like it just refuses completely to use anything other than that EXIF data that doesn't even exist anymore. | Disable safe mode so I'm unable to view xxx Posted: 30 Mar 2021 10:35 AM PDT I have a note 20 ultra currently,I'm looking to disable safe mode or block access to safe mode Here is why,when I'm in regular mode I have porn blockers on restricting me from viewing xxx movies as it's consuming my daily living,it actually works,I can't go on browers and view xxx movies,though when I put my phone into safe mode I'm able to go on the internet and view porn,darn and I thought i was on the path to sobriety,I though wrong,if there is a way to disable safe mode or block me from accessing it so I don't watch xxx movies I'd be fine. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:05 AM PDT I recently bought a new Samsung (Android 10) phone and even when set to the lowest resolution option, the stock camera app gives me videos that have HUGE file sizes. I don't need or want this, it takes too long to upload, and uses too much storage. I have been compressing the videos using VideoPanda and then deleting the originals, however, compressing is also a slow process and a time-waster. I'm looking for a camera app that actually shoots the video in a way that does not result in such large file sizes. So I can just shoot and share, without the extra step of compressing it. I have a website with FTP like structure where the media files are organized into folders. For TV series, the folders are organized into Seasons. I want to open the root webpage for a Series and want the app to automatically fetch the seasons and episodes. I can then watch the videos files from the app without ever needing to open that webpage again. Is there any app that has similar functionality? [link] [comments]  |
