Whats needed for laptop monitor fixing? (Equipment) Posted: 30 Mar 2021 11:55 AM PDT So I have a lenovo legion 5. My screen I think is fine, just I assume the cable isn't connected properly. My issue is that on color images you can basically see the pixels. As if it were hyper pixelated or something. Black and white is fine, looking from like 2 feet away is fine. But if you get closer its like you can see the pores of the images. It has to be a screen issue though cause I have a second monitor connected which has no issue. Im not scared to open my laptop and I have taken off the bezel once already to see how hard it be. Followed some videos and I stopped since I saw removal of tape from the 4 corners which I assume is what will keep the laptop screen centered and not falling. There was also a tiny strip of tape on the bottom of the bezel which stretched out. Put everything back and decided to ask here first and see opinions on correct monitor tape, perhaps tips on anything else. If anyone uses this laptop or knows more info perhaps they can help further? Im unsure how to see the side of the display cable which is inside the laptop itself as when I opened the bottom that whole area is under the fans? So... yeah. Any help would be amazing! I know lenovo support is a shit hole, this issue isn't entirely massive, it seems like a loose cable at worse so I figured Id learn myself. Fuck it. Thats a camera shot of what I see. I used 2x zoom so in reality it doesn't look as harsh as the screenshot does. But that's the gist of what I see if I sit within 1.5 feet or so~ Only its perfect bubbles and not as blurry as the screenshot seems. Edit: I also ask this cause Im not replacing the screen unless I have to. This issue -seems- to point to a cable issue over actual screen issue. So I don't want to break the monitor, I don't have tape that might come with a new screen, etc. So Im hoping for reddit to drown me with their best brands for tape or opinions on how to not fuck everything up. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 10:43 AM PDT I've been out of computers for 10 years, I have no idea what's what anymore. I just need something comfortable to type on. I'll be using it for title searches. Basically I just need microsoft word , file storage,, and a web browser. I'd like files to open quickly. Is there like a chrome book I should get? Or cheap laptop. They seem to overlap a bit. Thanks in advance [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 02:17 PM PDT Hi everyone. Recently I bought a refurbished ( renewed ) Fujitsu lifebook U727 for 600€. It has i7 7500U, 256GB SSD and 24GB of ram. Just after I bought it I noticed that for 80€ more I could have HP ProBook 455 G7 with Ryzen 3 4300U , 16GB of ram and 256GB SSD + 1TB HDD. What would you recommend? Should I return the lifebook and buy the hp or keep this one? I need laptop mostly for music recording and guitar plugins. Thanks for answers! [link] [comments]
Laptop Overheat, Audio jack off center Posted: 30 Mar 2021 02:00 PM PDT I got a Asus Rog Zephyrus GU502G, and it has a overheating problem. After 10-30 secs of game intensive play, it shoots up from 55c-86c then just spazzes around 79-87 every 10 seconds. What is this caused by? My audio jack is also off center and if i plug something in it plays only on the left side. I have to manually push the audio cable up because the jack is loose and fell down a bit. Any fixes? Durable, reliable, bigger screen more important than slick performance Posted: 30 Mar 2021 01:18 PM PDT My wife's HP Pavilion 17 is getting worn out. We've gone through 3 wifi cards and even more wifi dongles in the last 5 years. The dongles last about 6 months, the wifi cards about 18 months. She's hard on the laptop, it's been dropped or kicked over a couple times that I've seen. Where do I look for more durably built laptops? What is important to her, I think, would be: large screen, touch screen, better than average audio. Other than than, for her uses I think 8 gigs of ram, a 4 core cpu, and a small SSD would suffice. And I'd like to not have to deal with wifi issues so often. The laptops I see advertised, trumpeting how thin they are, or having a terabyte drive, that's not so interesting to me. Where do I look to find something tougher? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 01:04 PM PDT I have a laptop that wasn't made for gaming necessarily, but I can still run games like Minecraft and Rocket Leauge on 60fps fairly easily. However it causes my laptop to get really hot and the fan gets loud as hell. I play for hours a day usually. My question, is it dangerous for my laptop if I keep doing this? I really don't wanna damage it all edit: I have a Dell Latitude e6440 [link] [comments]
Lenovo ideapad Gaming 3 VS Lenovo legion 5 Posted: 30 Mar 2021 01:04 PM PDT Which of these two models of the same brand do you recommend buying? I got them with the same specifications and in terms of design I like both laptops, but I wonder how their cooling will be, how much they will heat up and which of these two to choose. The warm-up issue is the most important thing, and taking advantage of the fact that they have literally the same specifications, I would like to know which one you recommend. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 12:10 PM PDT So I've been eyeing the legion 5 4600H 8gb ram version (82B5000CUK specifically) and I'm seeing listed that the maximum upgradable ram is 16gb. Is this true or is it a mistake on some websites? I would like to upgrade to 32gb later down the line if possible for ansys, inventor etc P.S. what do you guys make of the lenovo E15 i5 Intel Xe gpu, I'm being told that it's a valid laptop for the mentioned software Thanks [link] [comments]
Coders, how well do you machines perform? Posted: 30 Mar 2021 12:08 PM PDT My machine (Helios 300, i5-9300h, 1660Ti, 8GB RAM) seems to struggle a bit with work. Guessing I got low RAM as it's constantly at 95% or above. I usually have a IDE (PyCharm), a few tabs for looking up stuff, and music (Spotify or YouTube). Sometimes, the CPU overheats (especially while boot up or starting the IDE). Temps spike up to 80s for a few seconds then settle down. Guessing the fans don't anticipate the sudden rise in load and take like 5 seconds to speed up. GPU seems to do fine for Keras though. Gaming works well tho. Good FPS and decent temps (80 C on CPU, 70C on GPU) in games like RDR2. [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Mar 2021 11:07 AM PDT This has been a problem for months now, but I couldn't find a solution for it, and Google wasn't my friend this time, so I will search for help here. The problem is, my laptop freezes, but only when my phone isn't connected to internet. And it freezes completely, I can't do anything with it, even simple things like Alt+ctrl+del don't work. But when I connect my phone to either wifi or mobile-data, it defrosts. My phone and the laptop isn't connected to each other in any way, and when my phone isn't connected to internet, my laptop, and the other electronic devices are connected. When we don't have internet in the house at all, the laptop doesn't freeze. It doesn't matter if the phone is around the laptop or in a completely different room. It most likely does it with other phones as well, since my sister doesn't have wifi on her phone at the same time as me. (It works kinda weird, because everything else, other laptops, TVs have wifi, only the phones don't, but that's rare usually, but can last from a few minutes to hours.) My phone is Huawei, the laptop is an Asus, if this has to do anything with it. If there's not enough information, feel free to ask. If this post doesn't belong here, delete it. [link] [comments]

Need help choosing between two laptops. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:05 AM PDT So my wife and I are currently in the market for buying a laptop since what we have right now is pretty bad (4gb ram, I3 4th gen, battery doesn't work etc.). My father hooked us up with a friend that's selling second hand laptops that's apparently of good quality. The guy showed me two, a Dell laptop that has an I7-6500 processor (2.5ghz, 4 cores), has 8gb of ram and has a 225gb SSD. It costs around 500$. The second one is a Xiaomei laptop that has an I7-8400 (1.8ghz, 8 cores), 8gb RAM and has a 470gb SSD. This one costs 600$. Both can be paid via a downpayment of 50% and the rest to be paid in 6 months. Now my issue is that, if it's really worth it to get the Xiaomei one since the difference looks somewhat minimal. I don't care for much about the drive space since I have external hard drives. I'm not that well versed with the difference between less ghz with more cores and less cores but more ghz. I know that the difference is around 100$ but I live in the Philippines and that's good money that could be spent elsewhere. A Pros and Cons would be nice to know as well. Thanks in advance. My new ssd doesn't work half the time Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:14 AM PDT I have an Aero 15 and I installed a crucial 1tb nvme in the vacant m.2 slot and formatted the drive but it will only show up in my files or device manager like half the time.
