OnePlus 9 Series Review megathread Posted: 23 Mar 2021 08:13 AM PDT Hi We're currently heavily moderating youtube submissions to the subreddit due to self-promo spam. For that reason I manually posted the most relevant reviews myself, you can find them on the frontpage. Feel free to share and discuss these or any other reviews in here. I'll also post a list of reviews for you to watch. You're also free to post your own reviews in here, but please mark them as self-promo. [link] [comments]

OnePlus Android 11 update strategy (it's a bluff) Posted: 22 Mar 2021 11:46 PM PDT After several months of waiting, the OnePlus 7T Pro got the "update" (or better said announced update) for Android 11 the day before the 9 series release. If you have not noticed yet, this is a pure marketing strategy. They do not care about updating their previous devices anymore, each update they bring is for marketing purposes. Last year, owners of the 7Pro 5G did not get any android 10 update until late March beginning of April because very few had that version of the device and OnePlus did not mind. They update their last popular flagship on time for the first major update just to be featured in tech articles and praised by tech reviewers since these people are totally unaware of the previous devices and always carry the latest. I am sorry if you feel betrayed, but OnePlus is not what it used to be and I am not expecting them to change. But if Samsung with a larger portfolio than OnePlus can keep their devices up to date, any manufacturer can. (Anyway if you care about timely updates, get a pixel or a Samsung A or S series). I have the OnePlus 9 Pro, ask me anything! Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:36 AM PDT Hey all! I'm Adam Conway from XDA-Developers, and I have the OnePlus 9 Pro for review. I'll be doing a video review for our YouTube channel, so if you have any questions you want to be answered now or in the video please let me know! I also took some photos which I put on Twitter :) [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 08:46 AM PDT I've turned of all of my printing services, cleared the storage and cache of my google play services, cleared my system cache... I might just be noticing it more since I'm inside pretty much all day, but the battery definitely lasts pretty much half as long as it did brand new. Literally. I get 3.5-4 hrs of SOT and I got 6-7 when I first purchased the phone. The biggest contributor is "android system." I'm thinking about purchasing a new battery to replace myself, so if anybody has any suggestions for a good place to buy a reputable OEM battery & back glass adhesive that'd be cool, but I really am just posting to find out if anybody's been having battery issues with any of their series 7 devices. Oneplus 9: The great Canadian ripoff continues Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:11 AM PDT 199 upvotes Vancouver Looking at replacing my oneplus 7 pro with the new 9 pro that came up for pre-order today. [link] [comments]
Waited months to see if the OnePlus 9 Pro would be worth it. Just ordered a Pixel 4a 5G. Posted: 23 Mar 2021 07:12 PM PDT Don't get me wrong, I hate Google's recent anti-flagship approach to phones (the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 are both plastic) but I simply can't imagine paying over $1000 for a phone that reportedly has mediocre camera performance and buggy software at launch. Also, it has no headphone jack. I just can't ride with OnePlus anymore. [link] [comments]
Oneplus 9 is a good phone except the overly hyped cameras and price. Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:16 AM PDT They would look like clowns if this partnership does nothing. -Dave 2D [link] [comments]
It looks like the OnePlus Watch is essentially a bigger OnePlus Band for 6x the price. Posted: 23 Mar 2021 12:50 PM PDT How do they actually expect to sell them in India? It looks like the features are nearly identical besides the screen size, it doesn't use Wear OS so it likely won't get any 3rd party app support, so what's the point? For anywhere outside of India why would someone get a OnePlus Watch over something like the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, brand new it's pretty much the same price, has the same features minus warp charge, and can actually download 3rd party apps. Can someone please tell me what OnePlus was thinking? I feel like this would be a great watch at $80 but at double that? Hell no. [link] [comments]
What's the point of wireless charging? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 10:47 AM PDT I can't think of any feature that is better or useful that wireless charging provides, its slower and you can't use your phone while charging really and you've gotta align the thing each time. Maybe it could a way to charge the phone if the charging port has been damaged or something....reverse charging isn't all that helpful, you can't just use a powerbank i don't have to stick another phone to mine rendering both useless until one charges... Idk guys i find wireless charging is really unnecessary its cool that technology exists but its not needed [link] [comments]
OnePlus 7 pop camera pops up when scrolling over instagram ads Posted: 23 Mar 2021 08:26 AM PDT I've seen this happen 3 times now. Whilst scrolling through instagram, sometimes the pop-up camera on my OnePlus 7 Pro will shortly pop up and the retract again, almost as if it just took a selfie of me. This always happens when scrolling over an ad. It happens in snapchat as well, but I think this is just because it's running the camera even tho you're in another menu. But the instagram situation creeps me out. I'm guessing I only get to see this because of the nature of the OP 7 camera. Anyone else who have experienced this? [link] [comments]
No dual SIM support on the Oneplus 9 (North American version? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 11:24 AM PDT This is something that I didn't really see mentioned in any of the video reviews so far. Per Android Central: "The North American version of the 9 Pro has a single-SIM slot, with other global variants getting dual-SIM connectivity." Is this true for the unlocked model, or do they mean the T-Mobile version only? [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 12:00 AM PDT The latest update broke many apps, and uninstalling it will stop your app crashes for now. Edit: There is now an update to Android WebView. To install it, Go to Play Store > Left side menu > My Apps and Games > Installed tab on top > Android System WebView > Update Also, thanks for the gold. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 08:00 AM PDT The watch is amazing so far, better than the phone, especially the 2 week battery life.. [link] [comments]

Done with OnePlus. What should my next phone be? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 02:09 PM PDT I think it's pretty clear that OP peaked with the 7 Pro and now they're just focusing on gimmicks. I've been getting a new phone every 2 years and now the times coming up for another. Do you have any phone recommends? Oxygen OS has probably been the best thing about OP phones (originally came from hand-me-down iPhones) and the worst thing is easily the cameras (for video specifically) [link] [comments]
Is the 9 worth or is 8T better? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 05:42 PM PDT I was considering upgrading to an 8T (from a mid tier non OP phone) because I saw the price drop at 549€, but today I saw the launch of OP9. Is it worth the 180€ more? Or should I stick to the 8T? I am searching for a phone with good battery duration and camera mainly. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:51 AM PDT According to reviews there is no support for 5g nor any plans in the pipeline for ATT 5g at all. This is disappointing. [link] [comments]
Was hoping for a Pixel-like flagship Posted: 23 Mar 2021 07:30 PM PDT There is space for an 888 equipped Pixel flagship and I was hoping OP would step up. No wifi 6. Camera reviews are meh. I almost feel like OP is a Chinese company that could leave you high and dry next month. Very disappointed today. Here's hoping the Pixel 6 steps it up. [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:27 PM PDT So I have the OnePlus 5, and have had it since it launched. Lately I've been having issues with it charge charging (I've cleaned the port and swapped cables/bricks - didn't help) and some other minor stuff. I'd heard OnePlus was launching the 9 and 9 Pro but seeing the price tag has turned me off. Is it worth upgrading from the 5 to a 9 Pro or maybe a 7T or 8? I do prefer the dual sim so I don't have to carry a separate phone for work and I've heard the 9 doesn't have this option. Tl;dr another is it worth it post. [link] [comments]
Is it just me or is the OnePlus 9 Pro in Stellar Black not available in the U.S.? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 09:13 AM PDT Taking a look at OnePlus' website, the preorder page does not have Stellar Black. In addition, this page, which covers the available colors, lacks Stellar Black in the U.S. [link] [comments]
Does the OnePlus 9 pre order not come with free Buds Z? Posted: 23 Mar 2021 04:32 PM PDT I see the 9 Pro comes with the Steven Harrington edition. Does the regular 9 not come with anything? Was it limited supply and I've simply missed it? USA store. Thanks [link] [comments]
Posted: 23 Mar 2021 03:45 PM PDT I'm disappointed that no Arctic Sky will be available for USA. I'll be skipping this generation. [link] [comments] |
