    Just why?

EDIT: I do not work for Oneplus. I personally jumped ship to the S21 Ultra because I wasn't happy with my recent experiences with Oneplus. I used to like their phones a lot.

This post is to call out the toxic nature of commenters on this sub against people who have different opinions than them on the OP9 series. The common scenario seems to be a person has a positive experience with OP9, and someone else comes along like a freight train attacking the person for having the audacity to say something positive. It goes the other way too, I just don't see that scenario as often here.

Sharing opinions whether negative or positive is totally fine as much as you like, to whoever you like, because yes criticism is good. But what I'm seeing on this sub is just vicious; as if someone that bought the OP9 just ran over everyone's dog. There's a civil and proper way to do criticism believe it or not.

Caution while opening wireless charger box!

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 02:53 PM PDT

Just a heads up for those who have purchased the wireless charger from oneplus. It comes in an awesome box but the suction from removing the top part made me catapult the dock all the way across the room. Just hoping all the other people who are excited and opened it like me are aware that the charger is not held down in any way inside of the box. I don't have the phone yet so I hope it still works. Anyways... Enjoy the speedy charging and nice phones!

Upgraded my 6T to a One Plus 9

    Posted: 29 Mar 2021 09:24 PM PDT

Just got mine today. I upgraded from a 6t to the standard 9 (not pro).

    Initial impressions:

    • The smoothness of the 120htz display and the snapdragon888 is a huge upgrade.
    • The fingerprint scanner is so good that I didn't bother setting up face unlock.
    • Haptics are better than the 6t, but could be stronger still.
    • Selfie camera is about 1000x better, as well as the rear cameras.
    • Battery life seems to be really good and on par with the 6t (which was already a champ)
    • Speakers are significantly better and no longer get covered when you used the phone in landscape.
    • Android 11 is a lot more polished than the Android 10 that was on my 6t
    • Its nice to have the Google feed on the left swipe
    • Back button gesture no longer at the bottom left corner, but you now swipe from the side of the screen. Thought it was horrible at first but then realize you can swipe from the right and its actually a better placement for the back gesture.
    • Both phones are about the same size with the 9 being just slightly taller.

Overall I'm very happy. I feel like this is a really great phone. Didn't notice any bugs or issues.

OnePlus 9 Pro Overheating: While filing at 4k 60fps, shut down after 1 minute.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 03:10 PM PDT

Once again, I hate to see the path that OP has been going down. This seems to be a trend relating to software.

I was filming in 4k 60fps to just check out the camera software... no other apps running. Nothing taking up any CPU/GPU. At about 45 seconds it was hot as fire and I got a warning in the viewfinder that it was overheating and to stop filming or it would shut off (something like that).

And then.... blank. Completely stopped filming just after about a minute. I didn't even try 4k 120fps because I was FURIOUS. Beyond mad. Sure, Smooth UHD advises that you only get up to 5min recording time, but this got hot immediately.

I had the stock gray stone case on, so I took it off, turned off the phone and let it cool all the way down. Started it back up without the case and I got 10-20 more seconds before it overheated and stopped recording.

Between the Google Play issues of not being Certified and not having the SafetyNet certification... not being able to even open the stock Netflix app and now an unusable video camera, it's starting out as the biggest waste of 1k I've ever spent. It's very buggy and OP has a LOOOOONG way to go with this phone.

Questions for 9 Pro Users Any Reason to Not Upgrade?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 05:38 PM PDT

Hi all, I'm looking to get a 9 Pro this Friday. $375 trade in value from my 7 Pro at T-Mobile.

Any reason I shouldn't do this? Let me know.

To clarify: My 7 Pro moving camera is loud and audible, screen burn is tremendous. If I can get ~400 off why would I not do this for a top of the line specced phone? No matter how incremental it is?

    Hello Guys,

As the reviewers are spending more time with the device Daniel from ZoneofTech revealed that the Hasselblad Colour Science only works in the Pro mode. He clarified in a tweet that he was informed about this by OnePlus directly.

I upgraded from a Oneplus 7 Pro to S21 Ultra and here's what I think

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:28 AM PDT

I knew the time would come, I've been low key dreading replacing the 7Pro which has treated me very well for almost 2 years now. Naturally, what people want and expect from their smartphone experience varies wildly, and I'm one to prioritize the UI/UX experience, so I'd call the 7Pro a tough act to follow in that regards, and I take a lot of photos and 4k60 video.

The first let down was not being able to find a suitable replacement with a full screen experience. I knew that virtually no matter what I was going to buy, it would have a punch hole.

Some other things worth mentioning is that I used a GCAM port on the 1+ and IMO it took fantastic main lens photo's, the wide/tele lens were ok but the colour science was a bit off where the main lens felt spot on and fixed the shutter lag of the stock camera.

For a multitude of reasons like personal circumstances and buying habits, local buying options (Australia), sharp pricing etc, I settled on and managed to snag the S21 Ultra Exynos in 12gb/256gb for $974.50 AUD delivered. For reference my 7 Pro 8gb/256gb was $1122 AUD delivered June 2019.

All that said, I've had the S21U for a 3 days now and here's some pro's and cons in no particular order.

    S21 Ultra vs 1+7 Pro – Pros

    · 120hz LTPO adaptive, I don't know what magic they've worked, but the screen is noticeably a smoothness/responsiveness upgrade, and I cannot tell when the refresh changes. I can tell when it is lower than 120hz in some apps, but I don't feel the switch. Well done here Samsung. The screen genuinely is a pleasure to use and interact with, it takes the bar I'm used to and truly pushes it to new heights.

    · Less curved display. Compared to the 1+ it barely feels curved at all and I like it. Never had accidental touch issues mind you, but the edges of the viewable screen don't really bleed over and it's an improvement to my eyes.

    · UI/UX speed and smoothness. This is one area I really expected the 1+ to be tough to follow but whatever secret sauce they've sprinkled on has worked, it is a powerhouse and I've yet to have it stutter or bog down whatsoever.

    · Face unlock speed. You guessed it, with no delay in popping up the camera, face unlock is fast and awesome again.

    · Substantially better and more versatile stock camera experience, despite some rare-ish processing artefacts in stills. 4k60 from all lenses is mint, and the 3x and 10x tele's are genuinely really useable at/around their optical zoom levels, and the ultrawide is top notch all round.

    · IP68

    · Considerably louder and better quality stereo speakers

    · Brighter screen

    · Fingerprint scanner more reliable in direct sunlight

    · Up to date security patching

    · Acceptable 15w charge from a wider variety of adapters and standards, many of which I already own.

    · Wireless charge, but I doubt I'll use it much.

    S21 Ultra vs 1+ 7 Pro – cons

    · Bloatware. Loads of Samsung stuff I don't want and will never use. I am buying this phone for the hardware upgrades and have virtually 0 interest in any additional software Samsung fill the phone with. Considering following a guide for the full ADB de-bloat.

    · Punch-hole ☹ It's not as bad as I thought it would be, but I've yet to really forget that it's there. I understand why and how it needs to be there, so I can deal with it, but the 7Pro basically has peak smartphone screen to this day, bar perhaps any personal opinions on the curve.

    · Heavy, while it is barely physically bigger, it's notably more of a chonky boi. Not a dealbreaker, I'm sure in ~2 weeks it will feel normal and the 1+ will feel light.

    · One UI. That lasted all of 12 hours before I went with a different launcher, currently using lawnchair and it's set up very close to how Oneplus Launcher was. No issue with the UI outside the launcher.

    · Button customisation. I don't use gestures, I use on screen buttons for home/back/app switch, and Oneplus let you change a lot more here, long presses, double taps etc. I miss using long press on the app switch to lock the screen

    · No Alert slider.

    · No fast charger (or charger of any kind) in the box.

    · Can't have the haptics react to the fingerprint scanner.

    Overall

It's one of those upgrades where pretty much everything is improved, but it's not massive per-say, evolution not revolution. However.... they all add up to be a substantially better device when considered as a whole, especially if I push forward the out of the box camera experience which is a bigger leap than most other facets.

The Oneplus 7 pro was a HELL of an act to follow, and the S21U is better... but I'll let you all make up your own minds and hope my long -ass thoughts helped.

Looking to get a 9 Pro and I have general questions for American users

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:00 PM PDT

I'm looking to get a 9 Pro and I'm having a hard time deciding if I should get it through T-Mobile or if I should buy it through OP directly. Are updates notably worse via the carrier models? I've read the unlocked models don't have official IP68 certification, but that doesn't really matter. Do the TMo models of OP phones tend to get filled with bloatware? Just really want to weigh pros and cons.

Has anyone had a consistent problem with the exclamation mark next to the cellular symbol on their oneplus devices?

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 04:22 PM PDT

This has been happening to me off and on again for the past 5 or so years. Back when I got my One Plus 2 and was using TMobile, this would randomly happen after a few months. Usually restarting would fix it. Then, after a few years it would happen almost daily, which prompted me to get a new phone. When I upgraded to my oneplus 6t, the same thing happened after a while. After a while I switched to google Fi, hoping it would fix the problem. Now it happens as soon as I reinstall the phone and have it on mobile for ~10 mins. Is this just a common thing or is the phone not supported in my area (Chicago & NW Indianapolis) or something? It's really annoying and T-Mobile and Google Fi couldn't figure out what it was, and I just wanted to see if anyone else had similar problems.

PSA for people having battery issues on their OP 7 Pro for the last few months.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 06:53 AM PDT

Upgrading to Android 11 fixed my issues. If you are having battery issues and your battery health is ok (above 80%). You might want to try upgrading to Android 11 to see if it fixes your problem.

I have been having issues with my battery for the last few months, idle battery drain was CRAZY. I had to charge my phone twice or thrice a day. Even though my battery health was 93%.

Android 11 finally fixed that bug. I am back to 5-6 hours of SoT and 2 days of charge in case I do not use my phone much.

Oneplus 9 Pro tempered glass screen protector

First Impressions; Settling for no gift.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 07:22 PM PDT

Here's a little bit about my story so far with the Oneplus9. Im excited but a little frustrated at the moment. I just got off with Oneplus support, who were friendly but ultimately unhelpful with my issue.

I ordered the 9 the same day it came out on the 23rd, but at the time the gift option said it was out of stock. I was like "ok I don't really care too much about them anyway, they probably ran out really fast." Fast forward to getting the phone, I realize on the website that the gift option is not greyed out anymore. It's in stock.

So I decided to ask support to see if I could get my gift option now, seeing as my order was in the promotional period and would have gotten the buds if I had waited just a few days to order. I was told that I would have to return my Oneplus9 and reorder the phone with the gift option selected.

That just seems like a little bit too much for me. I've been excited about this phone and I don't want to send it back and wait longer for it, it's just a little disappointing that they couldn't make an exception. In total I paid about $960 with the phone, Oneplus Care, and a case. It just seems like since the promotion is still ongoing and I just got the phone, they could have just sent me the buds. But it just seems like too much hassle for me to return a perfectly good phone to get them.

    What do you guys think?

    OP7 - Thoughts after upgrade to OOS11.

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 10:16 AM PDT

I've prepared for the worst by creating a backup yet to my surprise every thing is smooth and no bugs. I repeat 0 bugs so far. Battery is the same or better (only 3 days have passed). Gone are the days when the keyboard is useless for a short while the network speed counter is missing for no reason. I use the redline pack and am fairly addicted to the OnePlus color scheme so needless to say how pleased I am now whit the new color scheme. I felt like it was needed to counterbalance the negativity shared here. I did however cleared the cache after the upgrade. So in conclusion I'm happy with the new update although OP sure did take their time release it.

How to downgrade Op7 Pro from 11.GM21BA ? ... its bad

    Posted: 30 Mar 2021 08:59 AM PDT

    Hey
Im asking for help, I have this phone for almost 2 years , I loved every day with it, and today I did this 2 gigs update to 11.GM21BA ... and its sucks. Everything laggy, launcher crashed 2 times, icons disappeared, my noti volume is on 40% but everything is loud af.

Can I download a image ? Or delete the update like in Windows if something goes bad.

I had turned on the backup thing when I bought the phone. Can I use that?

If someone knows how to downgrade to what I had in this morning I would be so happy :D
