Some (non-UK) text/video reviews I saw had one or both of these missing, just wanted to clear it up for any other UK buyers.

FYI, bought from oneplus.com, but I assume amazon/carrier phones will be the same.

Question of screen protector for curved screen.

    Posted:

I got oneplus 8 and noticed some nail trace on original protecting film soon. So I researched screen protector.

Tempered glass said to be the dominant type. But even the full glue ones could suffer white edge, sensitivity-degrading.

I am wondering if I use hydrogel film and change it every few months, is it a good plan? Hydrogel has better touch feeling and clearity than tempered glass, right?

My experience with OOS 11 for the 7T (so far)

    Posted:

So recently I received the update for OxygenOS for my 7T and I have a couple good and bad things to say about it. To not start off on a downer, I'll start with the good things, the new UI feels really good and well thought out in terms of where the users fingers are the most and the gestures feel just as good as they did on OOS 10, unfortunately, that's all I have to say on the good side, other than how I really like the new canvas lock screen design. Now to the bad stuff, battery life is dreadful, I've done all I can to limit apps background usage and yet it's almost as if the battery optimization is doing nothing at all, a factory reset doesn't seem to have fixed this either. Secondly, the phone can get very hot a times even when it's not in use and nothing is running in the background. And my final nitpick is that after around what seems to be 3 hours of use, the phone begins to stutter, and I don't think it's the actual phone chugging, but instead the refresh rate, the dynamic switching between 60 and 90hz when 90hz is enabled seems to break after around 3 hours and starts to randomly switch between both, factory reset does not fix this but manually switching from 90hz to 60 and then back to 90 seems to fix it for another hour or so. TL;DR, UI good, Optimization bad.

[USA] Oneplus Support won't let me return my 9 Pro

    Posted:

Contacted support through Chat this morning to ask for a return (I'm not happy with the battery life), and was told they'd email me a label within a few hours.

    Three hours later nothing.

Ok I'll just give them a call I figured. The guy told me not to worry about it, that he'd personally figure it out and to just wait two hours for a confirmation email followed by an email containing the shipping label. Three hours later and still nothing from either case.

It feels pretty bad knowing they're acting this way, but luckily I purchased through PayPal where I can file a claim along with the evidence of the chat and phone call, but I'd rather not have to go down that route.

Anyone else have a similar issue with Oneplus? What did you do to finally get them to accept a return? Is this standard for Oneplus?

    Ringtone volume

    Posted:

You know one thing that I would really like to see. I have seen it on other phones. A separation of the notification volume and ringtone volume. So you can set the volume level that you want on your ringtone and a different level for the notifications.

If this something already in place I don't know where so please let me know lol

    Support Issues?

    Posted:

I recently submitted an approved repair ticket for my OP8 and right off the bat, each email I received was full of spelling and grammatical errors. When I checked the status of my claim, it said that my device had been received at the service facility before even sending it. Then the email which was supposed to contain my shipping label was blank and asked me to ship it myself but neglected to give me a proper address to send it to.

Anyone else have experiences like this with support?

Oneplus 7 Pro for $233 or Oneplus 8 for $310?

    Posted:

I've been looking for a decent phone on swappa, and I don't really care about condition that much, so I found two listings that I thought were perfect.

Is it worth spending an extra $70 for an already extremely discounted OP8 or is this a dumb question?

Spontaneous moments of extreme lag after updating my 7 pro to OOS 11

    Posted:

Has anybody else experienced this??? It lasts anywhere from 2-15 seconds, the phones response time slows down immensely, and the frame rate drops to like 10/s

OnePlus needs to work on their language translations and typos.

    Posted:

Hyper Touch or "Hyber" touch along with the fram-e rate typos are just bad. This isnt the only place i have seen this either. RMA'ing a device is a nightmare with typos too, but thats not that big of a deal. But imaging holding a $1000+ device in your hands only for it to be riddled with basic typos? Screams jank and lack of focus.

OP6T won't recieve push notifications over data

    Posted:

Looking for ideas on how to solve this problem.

Partner has a OP6T, was not getting my messages on signal or telegram when on data. And later discovered it included apps like Gmail and outlook. Would instantly get the notifications when getting home and connecting to wifi. Or if he opens the app he will get the messages for the app he opened.

Thought it was his crappy provider. It didn't improve when I moved him over to my provider.

    Data saver isn't on.

Battery optimization is off for those apps (even though intelligent control is on for my OP8 and I have not issues).

I tried locking the apps on the recents. Still no help.

Any ideas why being on data seems to limit him getting messages and email?

Just a heads up to anyone with the GameSir X2 - It JUST about fits with the supplied case unlikely that any bulkier case would do though.

Last chance for me to get the 12gb over the 8gb 9 Pro...

    Posted:

So, should I go for the 12gb Pro? Not bothered about the extra space but will that extra 4Ggb ram make a difference?

Edit: Gone with 12gb version just because, well, I liked the pine green?! I expect 8gb would have been more than enough, but then started thinking about storage and would I exceed that in time? Not sure I will but hey ho, too late once I have it so better to have a little too much than not enough.

    OnePlus 9 and Gmail notifications.

    Posted:

My wife and I got new oneplus 9 phones (t mobile version) and neither of us get notifications for gmail unless we open the app to refresh it. I've checked all of the notification settings and turned off all of the RAM optimization settings but couldn't figure it out. Anyone else have this issue?

It doesn't seem to affect any other application.

Edit: I also made sure that gmail wasn't affected by the battery optimization.

    Removing default screen protector

I'm getting a case for my 9 pro, wondering if going no screen protector/buying a tempered glass one makes much of a difference or should I just stick with the pre applied one? Never had a oneplus phone before.

    OP9 PRO vibrant colour modes

    Posted:

Hi guys anyone tested and used these display modes to enhance the effect of videos and colours? I tried using the vibrant colour modes and saw no difference really unless that's me but I'm sure it's meant to be very minimal in terms of graphic and performance anyway (probably eats more battery though)

And anyone tested the motion graphic settings etc? And from personal usage and recommendation are these ever worth even putting on or just leave it off?

    OP9 Running Warm

    Posted:

I just got my OnePlus 9 (regular, non pro) from T-mobile today, and seems like it gets really warm during normal use. When performing setup and using the OnePlus Switch app, it gave me that message that it's running too hot. I assume this is from the Hotspot that the app creates.

Anyone else get theirs yet and experience this? Only got the warning during the setup. One other comment mentioned other 888 phones run hot?

Anyone else experienced icons being low resolution on the 7T? (Pictures in post)

    Posted:

So recently for some reason small things on multiple apps have been pixelated. See the instagram top bar and the icons for liking and commenting in this pic. Or see the top and bottom menu bars on Youtube in this pic.

This is pretty bizarre because it's across several apps. The display is perfectly crisp otherwise, it's just that these symbols are loading in low res for some reason.

How to disable gaming mode One Plus 7 Pro?

    Posted:

As the title mentions, how do I disable gaming mode? I see countless answers that claim it's super easy, but none of them are actual solutions.

Does anyone have an actual solution to disable it? I'm running Android 10, OxygenOS 10.3.8.GM21AA.
