    Similar app to sony sketch

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:21 AM PST

I wanted to start using sony sketch app again but haven't used it for a few years and the app is now gone. I've found apk for the app but since the stickers/decals are gone, it has no use for me. Is there a similar app where you can create pictures with stickers? Or is there a way to download the decals for sony sketch? I've looked around but haven't found anything.

I've seen similar sketch apps but it's the sticker function I'm after.

I haven't seen this done yet, I know there are lots and lots of POV videos on youtube and I was wondering what if there was an live screen that showed then. Or on a lockscreen. That would be amazing!

    Open source calender apps?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:50 PM PST

Looking for a calender app which is open source and can be used completely offline with export events. I already tried simple calender and etar and it's great but looking if there's any better app than that.

    App that increases phone's brightness

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 08:20 PM PST

Usually the maximum brightness in automatic mode is two times higher than the manual mode. When the light sensor senses a lot of light such as outdoors under the sun it increases the maximum brightness. Is there an app that can bypass the light sensor triggering or fool the light sensor so that the maximum brightness is achieved when the user wants to?

Looking for android app similar to chrome plugin Mindful Internet Use

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 11:18 PM PST

There are some apps I can't completely uninstall or completely block because there are some productive usage to it such as a browser and work Whatsapp groups, but at the same time its easy to mindlessly browse in these apps. I'm looking for an app that would have an overlay before entering the distracting apps. Just to verify to unlock and track reason of why opening it. Then it should give me a gentle interruption after x mins to make sure I'm on task of what I'm doing.

From Android 5 to Android 9: App recommendations.

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 07:43 PM PST

    Hi!

I recently got a new phone which made me jump all of the sudden from Android 5 to Android 9 and after a couple of hours getting it setup I realized most of my preferred apps didn't have a purpose anymore, either because their functions have been integrated into Android 9 or because they were meant to run in much older and limited hardware. So I thought to ask this community for app recommendations. I'm not asking for huge list (but if you want to do it, go ahead), just pick 2 or 3 apps you deem essential, and/or any advice you consider fitting to this topic.

For reference I got a Moto E6s Special Edition (2020), 4gb RAM, 64gb internal storage. I haven't rooted it yet, though I plan to. I just need to see and understand how to use Magisk (which seems to be the way to root these days).

    Thank you all in advance.

EDIT: I forgot to say that I don't have a store preference, apps can be from either Google Play, F-Droid and/or Github.

FB client that allows disabling "suggested posts" and all other discovery features?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:05 AM PST

Like "suggested friends" etc. I want to see only updates from friends and groups I follow. Messenger is not needed, all kinds of post submissions or any interaction either. I'm using FB almost exclusively for finding events.

I've tried Swift Pro, but it doesn't have an option for removing suggested posts - and the amount of clickbaits and things that make me dumber by just looking at them briefly is staggering.

    Thanks.

App that puts a diashow as your background?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 07:00 AM PST

I use slide which is good but you can't have more than 50 photos. I'd like an app that randomly mixes all the photos from one folder. Is there something like that? This used to be a built-in feature, don't know why they removed it

DJ app for Samsung Tab S7+

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:48 AM PST

It's powerful enough and large enough screen that I think it may actually be useful. I'm tired of trying the junk on Playstore and Galaxy Store.

    Traktor? Serato? What's out there?

Looking for something intuitive, cloud access, YouTube or YouTube music connection would be stellar..

Looking for a good alternative keyboard with a Tab (indent) key

    Posted: 03 Mar 2021 10:16 PM PST

I want to be able to indent on mobile for editing GitHub docs on the go but not sure which keyboards have that and are lightweight, issue-free, etc.

I saw SwiftKey in some cursory google searches but recent reviews seem to sway against it.

    Any tips are appreciated..

Looking for a simplistic calorie counter, as an alternative to Fitbit. (For use with Phone and Mobvoi Watch).

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 06:42 AM PST

I like Fitbit's trackers and calorie counters (when they work) but I'm moving away from Fitbit and over to a Mobvoi TicWatch. I can't recall but I don't think Mobvoi has a calorie counter in their software suite. So what is a good alternative? Some features I'd like are:

    • Syncs with a website so I can edit or view on PC
    • Barcode scanner for quick-adding foods
    • Remembers your recent or most added foods or re-occurring meal settings.
    • A Weight Goal feature where you can track weight loss and such.

I'm basically looking for something as close to the basic features of the FitBit app but obviously without the FitBit app, since I believe you're required to have a device syncing with it for it to work, unless I'm wrong about that. And also I couldn't involve my Mobvoi watch in any way but I sorta expect that anyway I suppose!

    Launchers with default-looking app drawer

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:06 AM PST

    Hi everyone,

I have been searching for a good android launcher to change the icons and themes of my home screen. However, all the well-rated launchers I've tried (Poco launcher, Nova launcher, Microsoft launcher) have such an odd app drawer; it looks very different from my normal app drawer. The android default app drawer looks similar to the home screen but with all of my apps, while the app drawers of the launchers have a menu-type feel and little to no categories. I wish I could demonstrate, but I can't add pictures for some reason.

TL;DR: App drawers of the launchers I've tried look odd, I would like a recommendation for a launcher that allows me to customize my home screen more (themes, icons) while keeping an app drawer layout that's similar to the android default one.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mare.

I've created Todo Timer which gives reminders at intervals, not at a specific date or time

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 05:04 AM PST

I've made an app called Todo Timer, which gives you a reminder some time from now.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=martin.ngyn.dev.todotimer

For example have you ever wanted to remind yourself to:

    • Take a break from the computer in 30 minutes
    • Drink some water in an hour
    • Moisturise in 3 hours

Todo Timer is different from alarm apps. Alarms want you to choose some specific time. With Todo Timer, you only create a reminder to occur from whatever hours/minutes/seconds you want from the time you start them.

So if I created a 30 minute timer, whenever I start that timer, it'll go off in 30 minutes. I then can restart it if I wanted to. This is much better than having an alarm set at every 30 minutes.

Todo Timer is pretty flexible. Is there anything you need to be reminded for regularly? Even for irregular reminders, you might want to know after 14 hours to check and do something.

So I thought Todo Timer fits a niche purpose that some people might really find useful. Unfortunately it'll only be on Android for now, but let me know what you think of it.

Voice controlled notifications generation and TTS voice notification

    Posted: 04 Mar 2021 04:13 AM PST

    Hey everybody,

I'm looking for an app (or maybe a google setting?) to do the following: I want to be able to say to my phone "Hey google (or whatever keyword in an app), please remind me in 10 minutes to do this and that." and then have the phone deliver a spoken TTS message like "Please do this and that." after 10 minuntes. When I try to do this via google assistant best I could do was to have a beep sound and then having to look at the phone. Maybe there's a setting in google assistant I haven't found yet to activate this, but so far I've found nothing. So I'm looking for an app which does that.

It would be great if the app uses the google API or something or at least be able to unterstand german, but english only is also fine.

I guess there are apps like CalenGoo which supposedly have the feature I want, but to me that seemed a bit overengineered with a kinda steep learn curve? The onboard calender app on my S7 works fine for me, but if this is the only option, I will go that route.
