So I wanted to do a complete reset of the computer as I got this off ebay. I noticed I was capable of finding Wi-Fi networks before the reset. After the reset, the laptop is not capable of finding networks. I am looking for a solution to be able to find and connect wifi networks. How to remove folders from the app list on Windows 10? Posted: 25 Feb 2021 07:32 PM PST Hello! Sometimes, when you download an app, it creates a folder for that app, and puts the folder on the app list. For example, it created a folder called "Image-Line" when I was installing FL Studio. Old Windows OS overlay that made the computer visually look like rooms and a hallway Posted: 25 Feb 2021 05:48 PM PST Good morning everyone! I was hoping to have some of the folks that have been around a while like myself help me find photos/video of an old OS overlay (we're talking windows 95 era). Where it made it seem like you'd be walking around different rooms all connected by a hallway. Basically you would load into windows and it would be as if you were looking down a hallway. On the left was the "office" where when you clicked the room would bring you to a small office room where programs like microsoft works or add a printer would be sitting on a shelf. At the very end of the hallway was a game room that was interactive so you had standard microsoft games like chess, solitaire, skifree, etc sitting on a shelf but there would be a balcony where if you clicked it shootin stars would fly by or if you clicked things in the room they would display a short animation. It was a neat idea at the time for helping people understand computers when they were really just starting to take hold in the early 1990s. Windows Team 10 versus Windows 10 Pro - Why can I not install it on my 1st gen Surface Hub Posted: 25 Feb 2021 04:16 PM PST Hey Guys! I recently acquired a Surface Hub first gen and have been trying to get into it to modify it for more open use but it has been challenging (though I did at least get my screen rotation via regedit.....).I've check NTDEVs video on YT and thought it would provide some additional registry abilities to open up the OS but after trying a bunch of things I couldn't even get as far as a right button click!At this point I feel the best attempt might be to understand why the SH boots into Win 8.1/Server 2012 /Windows 10 Teams but NOT Windows 10 Pro (I haven't tried 8.1 or 2012 myself but read about it). I would assume there is something exclusive to the way it boots that identifies those three OS as acceptable while 10 Pro is missing something ..... Would anyone advise on a stepping point for this? I really am not sure where to go after all that I have tried! Thanks for any assistance! insane internet issue Posted: 25 Feb 2021 07:40 PM PST my acer laptop was using windows 8 and everything was normal and eventually it asked me to update to windows 8.1, which i did. and right after updating it, the internet connection on it became insanely slow and barely works. i can't download any files or go to websites without it taking a whole year. i don't think this is a problem with my internet because it works perfectly fine on my phone and my family's devices and it worked normally on my laptop too until the update. can someone please help? submitted by /u/samiok15 [link] [comments]

I restarted my PC, and now the edition has changed to Windows 10 enterprise. DIRECT-xx{ComputerName}msxx wifi hotspot Posted: 25 Feb 2021 06:24 PM PST Recently this wifi hotspot just appeared on my phone with the name DIRECT-xx{My Computer's Name}msxx with the X's replaced with random letters. Strangely, this only just started happening, and only happens when I have a specific wifi dongle attached to my pc (My motherboard doesn't have built-in wifi). Whenever I use a different dongle/antenna, it doesn't show up. I would like to just say it's the dongle, but I've been using it for a while now and this only just started occurring. Windows needs a better multi desktop view. Posted: 25 Feb 2021 07:58 AM PST I use linux as my primary OS for all my home computers and one of the things I love about it is how GNOME and KDE handle multiple virtual desktops. With one button I can access and move my open programs between virtual desktops with ease. Now at work I use windows 10 and for the most part I would say I don't mind it! It pretty fast and fluid and generally handles my work flow well. However where it falls short in a major way is how it handles multiple virtual desktops. I have a dual monitor setup and 3 virtual desktops. There seems to be no good way to move windows between these spaces. Windows tab view makes to scroll between the desktops and then when you move a window takes you out of the overview experience. As someone who is constantly moving stuff around it's just a it tedious. Bluetooth speaker stuttering on windows 10 Posted: 25 Feb 2021 03:42 PM PST Hello, I have a Lenovo Yoga Pro 3 with Windows 10. My bluetooth speaker works fine with my iphone, and it used to work fine with my pc up to at least 4 or 5 months ago (I'd stopped using it until a few days ago). Now it has horrible stutter (the whole sound is played without skipping but for every fraction of a second of sound it pauses for a fraction of a second), I've tried the windows troubleshooting tool (reinstalled the drivers) and there are no audio improvements to be turned off for the speaker. The only thing that has affected it is joining a discord chat, after which the stuttering is gone but the volume drops by like 50% or more, the audio quality drops through the floor and the speaker turns off by itself after a few minutes as if it didn't realize it's playing sound. submitted by /u/Lilaela [link] [comments]

Lose all files in my user folder after login up Posted: 25 Feb 2021 03:10 PM PST So i sign up on my account firstly in this year on working PC. Everything previously was working fine, but when i launch on my user - appear temp desktop and when i check my /user folder and it was empty. I lose all files and try to found solution now. Longread with all steps: So i sign up on my account firstly in this year on working PC. Everything previously was working fine, but when i launch. Some "blue windows banner pop up", that it can log under my account or something like that. And there was one button. Sign out. And clean fresh TEMP Desktop. Before i press on any button on banner, i decide to open the exploer and check the /user folder. Let's say my username is "glo22" and i have folder /user/glo22. But inside folder is nothing. Only hidden few files in AppData. Everything that was in folder like 20 gigs of my projects and files is gone. I try to use some recovery software ( Easy US ) firstly to check what i even have in folder if it still there and may be even recover it all. Quick scan found 20 gb of data, when the folder properties shows up size "29 mb". folder properties Scan ​ Then i check some solutions in internet, and found some post on easyus official site. And there is what i found: Step 1. Type: regedit in the Search and hit Enter > Click "Yes" to open Registry Editor. Step 2. Go and follow this page to find your User Profile list: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList Usually, the SID will be listed twice - with or without a .BAK extension: SID listed with a .BAK extension, such as: S-1-5-21-2795999757-2048908912-3492586281-1000.bak SID listed without a .BAK extension, such as: S-1-5-21-2795999757-2048908912-3492586281-1000 So i check and yep! I have that one file and .bak too. Follow one of the options provided below to complete the deleted User Profile recovery process: Option 1. Delete Duplicate Folder If the SID is listed twice, choose to delete the folder without the .BAK extension: 1. Right-click the folder from the left-hand pane and click "Delete". 2. Click "Yes" to confirm. I thought. "hm, that sound actually risky. if i delete it and it won't work out, i just lose reg file" So i use CCleaner to save current state of reg . Done. Finally, close Registry Editor and restart your PC, sign back into your user account. Now everything that you've deleted shall be all back and you can reuse them again. And it won't work out. Have no restore point. Welp. I am save all 19gb that i found in EasyUS, and what i found out that user exists in user folder, files is still somewhere and i have data of user in reg. But now it even not appear on choose user screen after startup. And now the cherry on top of the frustration. I make a fresh account but same problem is appear.
