Having my MS OneDrive account appeared to cause problems with Google Play Services; is there a way around this?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 08:50 PM PST

Device: Galaxy Note 20 Ultra running Android 11

Today I attempted to make an in-app purchase in a game and was met with errors stating "Unable to retrieve In-App purchase details; the App Store is temporarily unavailable" and "Transaction incomplete; You must be signed in to a Google Account on your device to purchase items." This is an app I have never had an issue making purchases in, and was an error message I'd never received through six months of ownership of the phone.

Coincidentally, today I also downloaded and tried to explore premium pricing options in the Microsoft OneDrive app, only to be met with a similar message of "Sorry, there was a problem accessing the store..." After browsing through some other apps that have in-app purchases, I was met with indefinite loading screens, time-outs, or other messages about not being connected to Google Play. Something was definitely wrong system-wide, it appeared.

I hopped in a support chat with Google Play and they had me try the usual gamut of stuff...but it wasn't until the rep suggested I try removing other accounts I had connected to the device that we made progress.

Being the only thing that I had really added to the phone since I noticed the problem, I removed the OneDrive account (but not the app), and things mostly started working again (I think I may have to do some cache clearing or reinstalls of some apps that are still hanging up).

Noodling on why that account doesn't play well with Google Play, I remembered that my Microsoft account "username" happens to be my Gmail address, the same Google account I have connected to the phone. The rep acknowledged that the username of my Microsoft account could certainly be causing some confusion.

I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way to have both accounts co-exist on my phone without causing issues. The whole reason I downloaded OneDrive was to explore its potential as a backup service...I can't imagine I'm the only person out there using an Android phone with my Google account, who also happened to create their Microsoft account with their primary e-mail account.

Clock app keeps on crashing Android

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 05:20 PM PST

I have a pixel 2 xl. My phone, whenever the alarm would sound instead gives a "Unfortunately, Clock has stopped working message. I have the option to close or wait on the application. After choosing wait or close, I get the notification for a missed alarm. I have tried:

Clearing defaults/Allowing all supported links to be opened in the default clock app

Background Restriction set to unrestricted as well as Battery Optimization turned off

Background Data/Unrestricted Background data turned both enabled

    Clearing Cache/Storage for my clock

Giving Clock as many permissions as I can

    Turning notifications on/off

Force stopping/Restarting my phone multiple times

Disable Biometric Unlock While Retaining Biometric App Logins

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:08 PM PST

I don't want to be able to unlock my phone with my fingerprints. However I still want to use my fingerprints to login to apps that have that functionality.

Phone won't show lock screen and won't accept fingerprint on the always-on display.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 09:58 PM PST

    Phone: LG Velvet 5g

While in the middle of watching a youtube video at 40% battery, the display shut off and the sound stopped. When attempting to unlock, the always-on display doesn't accept a fingerprint (no error message, the bubble animation just resets), and double-tapping the screen or using the power button does not bring up the lock screen.

I've tried restarting by holding the power button and it brought up the menu to choose between power off and restart. When I click "Power off and Restart," the display turns off again, but I can bring the always-on display up again within 2 seconds (which seems oddly fast for a reboot).

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 06:38 PM PST

So i bought a used samsung galaxy S7 (T mobile), and it came FRP locked. The problem with the conventional FRP bypasses is that it requires a locked sim card, and i do not have a sim card that is locked, or a sim card at all for that matter. I can use a pc if required.

My last phone is broken and I cannot access authenticator codes.

    Posted: 26 Feb 2021 11:45 PM PST

My phone was washed in a washing machine. I bought a new one, logged in to Google Authenticator and it is empty. There is no list of services and codes. I cannot get new ones without logging in with 2FA.
Is there any way I can get access to my codes for multiple applications I was using?

I searched the web and found nothing that does include reclaiming all accounts and 2FA codes.

    Please help me.

Phone overheating because of one thing!

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:56 PM PST

Hopefully this question applies here because I couldn't think of anywhere else to ask it. If you know somewhere better then please tell me. Hope I haven't already done something stupid. Anyways my phone's a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it's working perfectly fine so far. The only issue is when I watch anime on any video/media player app my phone decides to start heating up and draining the battery. Only anime, nothing else. If I watch a film or a show it's perfectly fine, battery stays nice and healthy, phone doesn't overheat etc but if I watch anything that's anime on any app my phone immediately heats up to an absurd degree and the battery drains by roughly one percent every two or three minutes. I have no clue why? (Maybe god is punishing me for watching trash?)

All I gotta do is exit the app or play something else for my phone to go back to normal temperatures but I just find it weird. I've streamed anime and it all stays the same, it's only when I watch that specific type of show on any video player type app. Just asking this in case any body knows any apps that specifically deal with this issue or is this something I've just gotta live with? I know could steam more often to avoid this issue but I have horrendous WiFi so that's why I tend to download stuff so I don't have to deal with that.

I could just charge my phone to offset the battery problem but that's just gonna rack up the heat even more so I never do that. Cheers for reading and any info/advice is greatly appreciated, even if it's just telling me of a more suitable place to ask this question. Thanks!

Missing video file and storage issue

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 04:17 PM PST

I have a standard Pixel 3 and I was taking a long (really long, like 25+ minute long) standard HD video that I thought might run to the end of my storage. I got distracted, and when I came back it had stopped itself and closed to the home screen. It doesn't show up in Google Photos and I can't seem to find it in any folder on my phone through the file explorer, but I now have less than 1gb free space on my phone. How can I access or at least delete that file?

I'm not sure if I am making the right decision

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:26 PM PST

    Howdy!
So I had my iPhone 7 for quite a while, as well as my airpods, and my apple watch, but now I am just looking for more speed, and, well something new. Been looking at the OnePlus phones, but I am scared to buy it, because of my apple watch and airpods, that doesn't work quite as well. Does anyone know if its possible to still use apple watch and airpods, with a OnePlus? Any advice? any tips? Please help.

    Image folder lost

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 02:14 PM PST

    Good evening,

I have an iPhone XR that is slowly giving up the ghost. I bought a new Galaxy S 21 Ultra. To transfer the data, I had initially established a connection via USB C / Lightning between the devices, however, I was always prompted by the Samsung device to enter my iTunes backup PIN, but I did not have this and I also found nothing on the Internet. So I decided to transfer the files and apps manually. To make the work a bit easier, I activated Backup & Sync from Google Photos (I had the app on my iPhone for a long time) and installed it on my Galaxy as well.

Unfortunately, I was horrified to discover that an entire folder of pictures was suddenly missing from the iPhone. I searched for this folder in the trash, in the hidden albums, in the iCloud and via PC on the iPhone, but without success.

Does anyone have any ideas? The pictures are very important to me.

    Microsoft apps reinstall themselves

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:52 PM PST

I have a Samsung A5 (2017) and have been trying to disable my Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.) because of storage space. Every time I uninstall updates and disable the apps, the apps somehow update themselves. despite being disabled. I also have auto update off in the Play store and Galaxy store. Any reasons why and how I can stop this from happening?

how to download photos old samsung flip top tracfone

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 09:52 AM PST

    Dear AndroidQuestions community,

My wife has an old Samsung T245G tracfone with many photos on it. The phone is long out of service, but we have the power and usb cables and it works except for the phone service which is not restorable. Is there a way to get the photos off using the USB cable? Neither my windows nor mac laptop recognizes the device when plugged in. Thanks for any experience/insight you may have.

Factory reset through system settings is different from Wipe Data/Factory Reset through Android Recovery?

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:12 PM PST

A customer told me that the technical support told her that hard reset through recovery is a "deep" reset that is not the same of factory reset done through system settings. Is that really true?

Music players in general under Android 11

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:10 PM PST

I realized this week that all of the music players are pretty much identical under Android 11, is this to be expected under whatever development also removed lockscreen music info? It seems like the API now only offers a 256px album image with a list of songs and times, with the only design decision for the developer being whether they display an artist's albums vertically or horizontally.

It's possible that blackplayer, vinyl, phonograph, music player, and a couple few more I forget are all basic crap and I'm not looking in the right place, but the similarities advice tell me something more structural going on.

I'm not necessarily looking for app recommendations so much as commiseration, just a hint whether I should keep looking or give up.

Due to Android 11, Samsung Secure Folder cannot access it's android/data whatsoever.

    Posted: 27 Feb 2021 01:00 PM PST

I've tried multiple file managing apps that CAN access android/data outside of the secure folder but when I try to use them inside the folder they can't be granted the permission as in the permission doesn't show up or I get hit with this.

Is there any fix to this or would the only option be to move apps where I manage their data out of it? The Samsung My Files app isn't able to manage the android/data folder as well.
