So a lot of the settings dont appear or dont work due to this so turning off real time virus protection is not available. Does anyone know how to fix this? [link] [comments]  | ||
| Need help determining which one is the retail key Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:20 PM PST So I got a PC for free (2014 Dell Optiplex 3020) and the previous owner successfully transferred all the relevant licensing to my Microsoft account. I decided I want to swap out the Windows 10 Pro license to my main PC, I'm aware that the Optiplex has an OEM license, but the previous owner missed the free Windows 10 upgrade and bought a Windows 10 Pro retail key. I verified that it is retail using the command prompt. However, I cannot tell if the PC is showing me the OEM key that it came with, or the Retail Key that was purchased. So now I'm looking at two different Keys, and can't decipher which is the retail. Additional notes: My main PC is a custom built and utilized a retail key Windows 10 Home. Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:10 PM PST I created a new module for Python, and want to move it to the folder "site-packages" inside where Python 3.8.6 is stored, specifically the site-packages folder inside the folder named lib, inside of Python 3.8.6. Anyways, it says something like "Need permission to do that" and it gives me the option to enter in my password and continue. But after I do, it just says "Need permission to perform this action". Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:06 PM PST I split my audio streams with a virtual cable and VoiceMeeter for recording purposes. For that, it is necessary to make that cable and VoiceMeeter my default devices, and I have done so of course. But anytime I plug in my USB headset, it forces that to be the default device. I do not want that, as Voicemeeter passes the audio through to it in a more controlled manner. How can I stop Windows from being a smartass? [link] [comments]  | ||

So I partitioned my HDD solely for his account, but I want to remove his access from mine, plus Windows's main partition. I also want to try to set programs separate for each account, if possible. I've been having an issue with blue screening and so a potential fix I saw online was to run the driver verifier, so I did that and now whenever I try to boot into my computer at all it automatically blue screens with a driver verifier detected violation code so I looked up how to disable it using Windows recovery and when I try to do that and I go to put in my password for my Microsoft account it says it's incorrect, I made sure to triple check and even logged in to my Microsoft account on a different device using that password and it works fine and I made sure that caps lock wasn't on but it just won't accept it, any fix?(also sorry for bad grammar) [link] [comments]  | ||

| 60GB of committed memory and pc crashes constantly Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:06 PM PST Hi guys so as the tittle says, I have 16GB or ram that barely goes above 10GB usage but have 62GB of paging virtual ram that constantly gets full. Now I originally had this problem when the paging was set at 16GB so I thought since I've got basically 3TB of storage, I can set the limit to 62GB and the crashes will stop. This however isn't the case as it still constantly gets full and causes the application, games, videos' to crash and restart because "memory is full" I'm sick of this problem and don't know what else i can do. | Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:03 PM PST I just changed boot speed in bios on my laptop from normal to fast and blue screen popped up (Your PC/Device needs to be repaired) there is options to press enter to try again or press f8 for startup settings but both options doesnt work the screen just blinks and nothing happens, maybe someone could tell me how can I access bios because I tried everything but still cant access the bios. Now that the quarter's over and we start again next week, I wanted to move all these folders into a larger subfolder named "fall 2020". However, while I did move the folders into the fall 2020 folder and they do show up there, they also separately show up in the primary folder as well. Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:40 PM PST I know this is a significant security risk if I do this but, I've just seriously have had enough of Windows 10 Updates and I am just annoyed at the updates. New features here, new features there but not really making sure whether the updates that are being deployed and implemented properly. I am just experiencing one buggy update after the other. One update it breaks one thing, another update breaks another. Is it possible to stop updates entirely? I have been a huge fan of Windows 10 during it's release but the quality of the updates has been going down over the past 3-4 years... It just makes me sad to write something like this. | Windows not seeing one of my Bluetooth devices? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 01:07 PM PST All other devices work... Phones, headphones, etc. but my new pair of Sony WH-1000XM3's won't show up. I've tried turning everything on and off multiple times making sure the headphones were not connecting to something else (they work perfectly on my windows laptop and my iPhone) and reinstalling my little Bluetooth dongle with no luck, kinda not sure where to go from here... Should I just update it into window 10 or something Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:07 PM PST I got this pc for like 6-7 years ago,and the only major change I made to this pc in these years it to change my Graphic card from GTX 670 to GT 9600 because somehow that older version runs Starcraft 2 really well than that GTX, I guess that GTX 670 is just really old in hardware. I tried out window update twice because some of my games need some programs that cant run on my pc unless I did some window update,and well,I got those "window 7 not genuine 7601", keep popping out the window activation stuff, black background The first time I just felt really annoying and system restore it back to how it was. The second time was yesterday,I carry my pc to my friend house for some gaming night and I cant access some games, so I have no choice to hit the window update again. Turns out,after the window update, I can play tons of games that I normally can't, which, results my game taste bends towards the older games like Starcraft 2 or some not so GPU intensive games. But the same problem still pops out like the first time. I was like fine, will it affect my pc negatively except of annoying? So I check the internet, the freaking 30 days trial, pc performance will become slow yep,system restore it again My parents bought this pc for me 6-7 years ago so I doubt that the "window product key" will still in my house because nobody in my house are actually experience enough with tech that time to think that "window product key" stuff will be important, or the key was just not exist to begin with I check online to find ways to fix it,so far it was either "buy a new product key"(which is entirely not worth it because that pc was already so old the time I was so desperately want to play the new triple A studio game I could just buy a new pc to solve the problem) or some temporary fixes which didnt really fixed it One of the method I saw was update my window into window 10. Im worried about how my Window 7 maybe being a copy will affect the update into window 10 that I cannot go back if things go wrong.Also still wondering if update it into Window 10 is free or nah What should I do for now? Except the "buy a new pc option",which I will in the future,but Im now stuck with this old PC I mean,I could just system restore it to the state of How I use 98% of the time,playing some old video games and so much game limitation, fine by me But I appreciate if there is some ways for me to actually fix this problem, I like the moment I can play tons of game that sitting in the corner of my steam account but I never touch because I cant play them before window update [link] [comments]  |
