The Myth of fast Android Updates of OP Phones Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:27 AM PST After reading a lot of posts on the OP subs about how OP is losing its way and horrible now i did look at the average time it took to get an Android update on OP phones. Long story short, OP was never fast if you look past the first update. The OP3, OP6 and OP7 got released right before an Android update - and got the update right away (with a failed attempt with the OP5). So yeah, the press covers those new phones and tells you how fast the updates come, great. But the following updates have always been slower. If you ignore those fast first updates and look at the average time between android release and the OP release you are actually looking at close to 6 month. So yeah if the OP7 gets the Android 11 update in January it is actually faster than the average OP update and even looking at the last few phones 4 months seems to be pretty much the standard. So no there's nothing changing, even though OP has released more phones. OP seems to have a system that is based on a first fast update and they seem to stick to it. the table shows the month between android release and OP update, the data is mostly from wikipedia and some google search results and i looked at releases not beta versions. Why does my Oneplus 8T immediately die when the battery is below 20%? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:36 PM PST I bought the OnePlus in November and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, two weeks ago, my battery was at 5% and it just died. It wouldn't turn on until it was plugged in for atleast 5 minutes. Today, the battery was at 20% and it just died and said the battery was too low. I let it charge all the way to 100% before turning it on. I always charge my phone till 80% and never let it go below 20% unless I'm never close to the charger. It has only happened three or four times I can say. Any advice on this? [link] [comments] |
Where would be the best place to buy a op3t display and battery? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:56 PM PST Got an op3t, dropped it today for the 100th time and the display is damaged. Luckily it's still usable, but the damaged area is growing, so before I go out and buy a new phone, I thought i might as well look into other options, i.e. repairing what's broken on this one. What are the most trust worthy retailers (be it a particular seller on amazon, or even a different website altogether)? What should i be expecting to be pay for a display and battery? Thanks in advance, any help appreciated! Thanks in advance [link] [comments] |
Does anyone know what the colored video and chat icons mean in the OnePlus Contacts app? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:30 PM PST I have some contacts that only the chat icon is green and the video is grey, and others that have both green, and still others with both grey, even though I have recently chatted with them. A couple of my contacts have the pixel 4a and the other a 4a 5g, the 5g is on my same network and only shows the chat as green and the 4a, on different network, has both green. I cant figure out what's the deal. If I look at my own number in my contacts it shows both green. See screenshot... https://i.imgur.com/q0uevXz.jpg Thanks for any insight. [link] [comments] |
8T+ dual or single sim on T-Mobile? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:01 PM PST Is the T-Mobile 8T+ single or dual sim capable? If single, can I just buy a dual sim tray from eBay and use it when I travel out of the country? I want the ability to have a local sim (data) and call/text from my T-Mobile SIM if I'm out of the country. Is this even possible? [link] [comments] |
Will an Anker 61W charger warp charge my Oneplus 8? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:13 PM PST I'm thinking about buying an Anker 61w charging brick with PD usb-c charging. Will this be able to warp charge my oneplus 8 or at least utilize the 30w? I wanted a more universal charge that could also charge my Galaxy Tab 7 and my Dell XPS 13 9300, would it be better to just buy the oneplus 65w charge which I assume would charge my oneplus 8 at the 30w warp charge. [Question] Inferior Bluetooth Audio Quality Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:52 AM PST Hello, fellow Humans! I have a Oneplus 7 and Sony's WH-1000XM3. I recently got a new laptop with a Killer AX1650i network card (propably important bc bluetooth). When im listening to music on my laptop (on Windows, didn't pay attention if it's the same on linux yet) the sound quality is incredibly better than on my phone. I've searched around the web, but didn't find anything to fix my problem. I've already uninstalled the default EQ "com.oneplus.sound.tuner". I think it got a little better, but not really noticeably. I also played around with Razer's Dolby Atmos EQ and Sony's own EQ. Didn't really help either (though a little. Still way worse than laptop). I'd be happy about any suggestions, or even just explanations why that is. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Anybody have a left earbud from the OnePlus Buds? Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:35 PM PST I got the OnePlus Buds for Christmas and promptly lost one of them. Otherwise, I'd rather give someone the charger or right earbud than throw them in the trash. [link] [comments] |

Some thoughts on features rejected by OnePlus in IDEAS 2.0 Posted: 31 Dec 2020 08:38 PM PST https://www.xda-developers.com/7-features-oneplus-adding-oxygenos/ I rank them from biggest concern to smallest (personal opinion) -> 1) Preventing screen burn-in by subtle pixel shifting OnePlus's response: Actually we've implemented certain measures to prevent the screen burn issue in the OOS11, to be specific, especially the AOD design. For older devices, we've also included similar solutions in other places like the status bar. Stay tuned for our future system updates. My opinion: No, not that I'm aware of which feature/measure has been added to resolve screen burn-in issue. My brother's 8T is used at 30-40% brightness at all times for 2 months now, using gesture navigation and dark mode on all possible apps and barely have static images. The status bar and its icons as well as the fingerprint icon are slightly burned in. 2-month old phone and you are telling me screen burn-in measures are in place??? 2) Hole punch camera notification alerts / Notification ring OnePlus's response: After further evaluation, we think currently it's still premature to adopt this solution on our devices considering the risk of screen burn. But we realize the demand for getting notified of incoming messages without waking your phone does exist, so we'll keep looking for better ways to cater to such requirements. My opinion: A long missing feature since OnePlus 6T. "Where is the LED notification light!?!?!?!" If subtle pixel shifting were to be implemented, alongside notification ring being customizable to avoid same color and pattern being used as well as longer interval, this wouldn't cause potential severe screen burn-in issues. 3) Improve the image processing OnePlus's response: We believe the improvements in image processing is a matter of personal preferences based on various factors. We'll need to collect more data and feedback to have a better understanding about what the majority of users truly value. My opinion: This might be enhanced by OnePlus when they eventually lose a big portion of their customer base. While I'm not an expert in the field of photography, however given its price point which is almost on par with Samsung/ iPhone flagship phones, the image processing could have been done better. Period. Other than the IDEAS posted, I've been wanting the immersive mode to come back. Hopefully it gets a green light in upcoming IDEAS 3.0, together with the above 3 mentioned features, if OnePlus cares about their customers. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:21 PM PST I recently got my OnePlus 8T and I've noticed the gallery on Android 11 is pretty slow. If I tap on delete it takes some time to delete and when you load up the app images take a while to appear. The gallery on my 7T used to be blazing fast anyone know what's the reason for this? I know you can download the resources pack but that only gives you the wallpapers from 1 phone. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:15 AM PST Hey guys. What's the best camera app for 7T in your opinion? I tried using Gcam, but it's very unreliable. Several features don't work. I'd like an app with all features available. Are there any decent alternatives to the stock app? [link] [comments] |
