Oneplus 7 Pro (T-Mobile; Rooted) Stuck on "PRESS POWER KEY TO PAUSE BOOT" After Magisk Update (While Charging?)

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 03:12 PM PST

Title sums it up. I was tooling around with some audio Magisk modules, and after installing a busy box update, the phone restarted into the "Press power key to pause boot" screen. I am able to access TWRP, but leaving the phone on that screen will eventually just throw me into fastboot mode, and have not been able to boot into anything since. I tried all different types of button combinations to get it to boot but I am stuck on this loop. I tried wiping cache, and get did a factory reset and eventually did a format, which should just leave the raw OS.

I am not concerned about saving data or anything as that is already gone, I just want my phone to boot, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why is the official community forum for OnePlus so spectacularly bad?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:06 PM PST

    The one at https://forums.oneplus.com/

Have you actually gone through the threads? Almost all of them are rants from fanboys pretending OnePlus is the only brand in the world.

If this sub is a little too critical of OnePlus at times, that forum is the polar opposite. A visitor could be forgiven for thinking they had joined a cult by buying a OnePlus phone.

Why doesn't the company moderate the forums properly? They're even asking for feedback these days regarding how to make the forums better but those surveys were filled with "engagement" type questions than actually trying to find out how to make the forums a little bit more helpful for users.

Geolocation data missing from photos despite being turned on

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 04:09 PM PST

My OnePlus 6 has geolocation enabled in the camera settings and the camera app has the required permissions.

When I go into the Gallery app and load the "Details" of a photo it gives me a rough approximate location of where the photo was taken. However, whenever I look at the actual properties of the JPEG - either on the phone or when I export it - there is no location EXIF data at all.

It seems this is an issues others have experienced. Has anyone else had this and resolved it?

I have tried clearing the camera app cache as that thread suggested but without success.

Is the Nord available in the U.S.?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:37 PM PST

I'm looking for a new phone, and out of all the options, the oneplus nord looks like the best. It seem to not be made for the u.s., but this has it as an international version, and it was linked in a review as working in the u.s.. So is this legit, or a waste of money? Also, if the nord doesn't work, would you guys reccomend the n10 or the 7t, I want something that will last, but don't care too much about software updates. And a great screen is another thing I'm looking for. Or if newer oneplus phones aren't what they used to be, non oneplus recommendations work, but I've heard that oneplus is a good brand for a long lasting midrange.

    Thanks you!

Oneplus 7T dropping calls after 3-4 minutes

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 01:02 PM PST

For the past month or so, my oneplus 7T has been dropping any calls I make or receive, after 3-4 minutes. All other aspects of the phone work fine. I've tried testing the sim in my backup phone, and have had no issues with that phone.

Anyone with the same problem, or have a solution? It was pretty embarrassing having a call with a client drop 4 times before we could complete our conversation.

What are the best bang for buck new or used oneplus phones in the 200-300¢ pricerange?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 01:12 PM PST

Budget: 200-300€ - can be slightly more or less (new or used)

What I use the phone for: listening to music and podcasts, watching videos, reddit, emails, calendar.

Features in the order from most important to least important. 1. Good value for money / memory card slot 2. Build quality 3. Performance 4. Screen 5. Speakers 6. Camera

Obviously this price wont get me flagship specs. Id just want to know what are currently the best phones in this pricerange.

If its not too much trouble, please include the reason why you think this phone is nice.

    Thank you very much

    Android 11 Beta Dialer Issue - 7T

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:50 AM PST

I just updated my 7T to Android 11 Beta. It's working well for the most part. One annoying bug is that I can't pick up incoming calls. My dialer won't engage when I try to swipe up to answer or hit the green phone icon in the notification. So, I have to call the person back. Making outgoing calls is no problem. Anyone else having this issue and know how to fix?

Quick question regarding dual SIM card and SMS

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 08:07 PM PST

    Hello gents,

I have a Oneplus 5T with Oxygen OS 10.0.1. The problem is that I get text messages from both SIM cards, but when I try to reply, it will always be sent through the default SIM card.

I remember in old versions, the SMS app would actually remember which sim card the message was sent to, and replies to that thread would be sent through that SIM automatically. Or at least if I sent 1 SMS through that number manually, any subsequent messages will be sent through the right number.

What version are you guys on, and how do the SMS app behave regarding dual SIM?

How to find 7T warp charge compatible usb-a to usb-c cable?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 11:42 AM PST

I'm looking to get a second charging cable for my 7T but I'm not sure how to tell which cables will be compatible with the warp charge between a 7T and the charging brick that comes with the phone. How do I tell which cables are warp charge compatible? Is there a specification I should look for?

    Enquiry: Premature phone shut down

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 11:12 AM PST

    Greetings,

I'd like to ask regarding my phone'e battery issue. I have a one plus 7 that I bought about 1.5 yrs ago. For the past few weeks I've noticed that my phone turns off once the battery levels hit the range 40-50%. When I try to turn it on, it shows the message "battery too low. Charge for a while before turning on"

Does anyone know why or how this happened?

Note that I've taken good care of the phone's battery. No prolonged charging beyond 100%. I can't possibly try to figure out what went wrong with the battery.

Android 10 on OnePlus 5T - is it worth it?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 02:22 PM PST

    Hello there,

I currently own a OnePlus 5T and it has been bugging me to upgrade to Android 10 for a while now, which is kind of annoying. What are your experiences with it? Does it destroy the battery / the performance and if so, do the additions outweigh that? Thanks in advance.

Should I upgrade from OxygenOS 10 to 11?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 09:25 PM PST

I own a OnePlus 7T Pro. It's an outdated phone but it's still one of the best around. My previous phone had Android 5.1.1 and it had the specs to be upgraded to Android 7 but the company messed up with the hardware making it impossible to make the upgrade even though the phone had the potential.

Today I was curious about OnePlus, I don't think they'd mess it up so I went to check and they launched a Beta version of OxygenOS 11 for 7T and 7T Pro.

Anyone knows how buggy the beta is? Should I upgrade or wait a little longer? And how do I backup? There's a backup setting on the settings menu, is that the easiest way to backup and how does it work?

Edit: Everyone is mentioning that the 7T Pro isn't "outdated" just because it's 2 years old. You're right! What I meant is that it isn't close to being the newest model, especially now that OnePlus 9 is almost ready to launch

Edit2: There is no way I can reply to you all sorry about that. You guys are really upset about this "outdated" thing, more than I thought you would. When I wrote that I didn't exactly mean that the phone is old and bad, not at all! I'm a proud owner of a 7T Pro and I believe I will be using it for at least another year or two. But as you understand, new phones are released almost every month, they're growing more powerful by the day, and games are becoming even more demanding. This is a phone that after two years still doesn't sweat with even the most demanding games, so believe me when I say this is an amazing phone! The reason I wrote "outdated" was because I really didn't remember any other way to say it and because most phones start to show problems after 1 year, and people usually switch phones after 2/3 years. My phone is in prime condition even after 2 years (except for cables which always get loose after a few months but I moved countries so I'll have to buy a new charger anyway). So please for everyone that got upset, accept my sincerest apologies.

As for the people mentioning that betas are by default not very stable and have bugs so I'm asking a "stupid" question. I know how beta versions are, I'm very knowledgeable about software. What I'm trying to say is: I don't mind a few bugs here and there, heck it some are even (almost) fun to watch, I just wanted to know how unstable it is, is it unstable to the point where it's almost unbearable or is it just a few bugs here and there?

    Wireless charging question

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 12:48 PM PST

So I've tried to do some research on wireless charging for a the OP8 but getting conflicting answers. Is it actually possible? And does it work with any charger if it is possible? Basically I've bought a new car with a wireless charging mat and just wondering if the phone is meant to charge on it?

Swapping to a OnePlus 8T or Mi 10?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 10:26 AM PST

Well, that was an intense 6 months with my OnePlus 7T Pro. The device that I love to love and hate to hate. Lately, I've had a few problems with it. Battery, lag, slowness. And even upcoming problems with updates if OnePlus decides to pull an LG or something. Repairs? Expect to see your phone arrive in 1 millennium. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but you get the point. So I have been trying to sell my phone as a result.

But as time went by, these issues partly disappeared. Especially battery life! Just use Wi-Fi at home, clean your storage and use Greenify. Yes, I could've used Wi-Fi at home all the time, but my mobile data is much faster than my Wi-Fi. I haven't seen much lag lately.

But, you've seen the title now, so let me explain. A while ago, I got an offer to swap my phone to the Mi 10. Now that's a good phone. I'm a fan of MIUI and it feels like a solid deal. But also, l got a chance to swap my phone for the OnePlus 8T. Not exactly, I actually curiously asked someone if they wanted to switch and they weren't interested until I mentioned that I might switch my phone to the Mi 10. So, I have a choice. With that being said, should I upgrade to the 8T or the Mi 10?

If I picked the 8T, there would be quite a few pros:

    • Slightly better camera • Better battery • LOADS better charging, which can be convenient • Better screen (talking about the 120Hz screen) • FLAT display • Better processor

If I picked the Mi 10, there would be also quite a few pros:

    • Better camera (I think, is it?) • Better battery • Better processor • MIUI

Now, there's going to be a few things I'll be losing:

    • 1440p screen • Curved display • Pop-up camera • Potentially OOS

I don't mind the first three, I don't use the 1440p resolution, a flat display would be a lot better since I can find a screen protector easily and I think the curves on the 7TP aren't necessary, but it looks nice. And, I'm gonna get a dot on my display. I do like the pop-up camera, but it can have some problems in the future like not popping up. My dad actually has suffered from that. And I find it annoying that it pops up on some apps when I don't want them to. Lastly, I might say goodbye to OOS for MIUI. Both skins are great, especially MIUI now that it's polished and feature rich. But I've heard some people having more problems with the software on MIUI than OOS, at least how I see it. I also really like OOS. It's clean, and dare I say it... OOS11 looks really good. But it can feel plain sometimes, it's missing some handy features like "raise to wake screen" or those floating apps you can use while in another app.

What are your thoughts on this? Hopefully I make the right decision and don't get any problems again. I love my 7T Pro, but now that I have an opportunity, should I take it? Thank you for your help!

How to use Do Not Disturb mode in tandem with sleep app?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 06:20 AM PST

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question, but I can't figure this out for the life of me. I want to use an app that helps put you to sleep (specifically the Calm app). The idea is you listen to a story and fall asleep while it's playing. But I can't figure out a way to do this with my OnePlus.

Specifically, if I turn on DND, no sound plays from the app. But if I don't turn off DND, I get woken up by notifications all night. I've tried setting the Calm app to override DND, but it only works for the app notifications, not for the sound from the actual app. The app itself has a feature to turn on DND while it is playing, but on the OnePlus this only silences the app.

I've spent about two hours fiddling with it and I don't know if this is even possible. Everything about the OnePlus DND and sound management generally seem like they were created to be as little user friendly as possible. Pulling my hair out over here from lack of sleep. Any suggestions welcome!

The only think I dislike (so far) about OxygenOS11

    Posted: 24 Jan 2021 11:58 PM PST

I'm really liking OxygenOS 11, but there's only one problem I have with it, and it's that they changed the hold power button display. it was nice when it just popped up a little side panel or you could either turn off your phone, restart it, do an emergency call, or take a screenshot. Now it takes up the whole screen, doesn't have the screenshot option, and unlike other power off systems on other phones, where it blurs/dims whatever is in the background, it blacks out everything that's not the power off, restart button, emergency call button, and a couple other new features. I wish this is one thing that would get reverted, or at least let us have an option between which we like because there are perks to both.

Has anyone been able to install TWRP and Magisk on OOS11 Beta 1in OnePlus 7.

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 01:40 AM PST

    The title basically.

I tried to update via OTA from OOS 10.0.10 with the recommended method ( Magisk install in inactive slot then flash A/B retention script to keep TWRP) but it didn't work. Magisk wasn't installed properly and TWRP keeps crashing and was unable to get into recovery.

Has anyone encountered this issue ?

    Thanks.

Why do people care about software updates so much?

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 10:55 AM PST

This is prob a controversial take but I see on here a big critique of oneplus is that they take forever to get updates in. Example that the 7 series is just now getting a beta for android 11 when android 11 has been out for quite a while now. My question is why is it a big deal? These updates are pretty marginal with new features with just a different ui and some changed stuff, some of which are stuff you won't ever use, and they're still doing security updates. Why does an upgrade to android 11 matter?

After 8 years back to Android [HELP]

    Posted: 25 Jan 2021 03:00 AM PST

Hello! I've switched back to Android after 8 years and got a few questions. I've had an iPhone 8 before and now switched to an OnePlus 8T.

    - Is there any option to see/preview messages on your lockscreen? I've turned on ambient display but if someone messages me it will only show the application icon, not the person/message which was sent.

    - Ambient display is quite 'dark', how do you solve this when being outside on a sunny day?

    - What are some useful widgets/apps excluding standard apps I'm using (Whatsapp, Facebook etc)
