How to set speaker sound as microphone sound? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 11:32 AM PST I'm in a piano class, and we use Zoom for lessons. The problem is that if I want to share the sound from my MIDI piano w/o speakers in the Zoom, the host would have to make me host, then I'd have to share my screen and then share my computer audio, which is pretty disruptive. Realtek HD Audio drivers are missing! Posted: 25 Jan 2021 06:08 PM PST My laptop is completely mute and it says that it can not. detect any speakers or headphones. I've noticed in device manager that my Realtek HD Audio driver is missing and there is a problem with the Intel SST Audio controller. I have tried reinstalling Realtek but every time I restart my laptop it does not show up. I have also tried reinstalling the Intel SST driver but there is always a Code 10 (this device cannot start error). Windows Laptop Blue Screen SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION - need personal files Posted: 25 Jan 2021 07:28 AM PST Hello, I'm helping my friend get personal files off of a laptop and she has the blue screen upon boot and every time I restart, I get "SYSTEM-SERVICE-EXCEPTION." It won't boot in recovery mode and when I try to do advanced startup options and select Reset but keep personal files, it fails around 8-10%. Are there any other ways to get the files off if I can't get the OS booted? Can I install another version of Windows or maybe Linux and keep the personal files? Maybe the OS is corrupted so I can use another version and keep the personal files with a USB with another OS installation software on it (would this work? I have never done this before). I can also take the hard drive out but would the hard drive still be corrupted/would I have access if I used it as an external hard drive (and bought the appropriate electronics/hardware to do so) on my own Windows 10 desktop? Multi Media Keys Posted: 25 Jan 2021 05:42 PM PST I recently got in to using the windows Multi Media keys, but I would like to have it only control specific applications. As of right now, it controls my master volume (my default output device). The end goal would be for it to only control my google chrome tabs (youtube, twitch, etc). I am able to use the keys freely, but the issue is that it controls my main output device. I tried looking into virtual output devices and setting that as my main, and others to my actual headset, but nothing seems to work. Headset not showing up in recording tab Posted: 25 Jan 2021 05:09 PM PST Hi everyone. Hopefully someone will be able to help me here. My laptop has not been able to detect my headset as a microphone for the longest time now. It works fine for sound but the microphone always defaults to the internal laptop microphone. I tried troubleshooting, updating the driver, making sure my headset has the 4 rings on the jack, but I still cannot get ANY of my headphones to work as headsets. I know on my previous laptop I had the same issue but did not think much about it since it was such an old laptop. Really bummed that this problem carried over to my new gaming laptop. Why do my apps on my desktop keep disappearing? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 09:21 AM PST My desktop apps, installed through microsoft edge (youtube, twitch, disney+, etc.), keep disappearing from my desktop. This has happened multiple times and I can't find the answer. All that comes up is "turn off tablet mode" but my laptop doesn't have that option (not available with my laptop). USB Composite Device can't start on one machine when using Windows Posted: 25 Jan 2021 04:51 PM PST I recently bought a miditech midiface 4x4 midi controller. When I plug it into my computer in any of the USB ports (front ports, motherboard ports, in any of them) it loads as a USB Composite Device (using usbccgp.sys etc. which is what it should do) but that composite device has the error: This device cannot start. (Code 10) Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API. When I plug it into my girlfriend's laptop (which I updated to use the same version of Windows I'm using, 10 build 20H2, to no change), it works correctly, loading the USB Composite Device and then the sound, controller called "4x4." I also installed Linux on a flash drive and booted my computer from there, and that was able to recognize the four different MIDI channels on the device and I could internally wire them up to other programs. This seems to to imply it is a driver issue, and since it uses Windows drivers, it is a Windows issue (as it is class compliant). However, it is clear that the device is not incompatible with Windows, as it can work with another computer, and isn't broken. I have tried to reinstall chipset drivers, update bios version, run driver fixing tools, and sat on the phone with customer service from Microsoft and ASUS (motherboard manufacturer), as well as exchanged emails with miditech, to no avail. Mysterious old sample songs? Posted: 25 Jan 2021 11:27 AM PST EDIT: Nevermind! I found them. They were apparently the Windows Media Player example songs from Version 7, which was distributed from 9/14/00 to 5/16/01. I somehow, as a young child, found the source folder of all the .wavs and listened to them a lot. Not sure how or why. They were about 10 seconds long in total length, and there were about 9 of them. They were kinda chill house-y. This was around 2009-ish but the OS it was on was probably much older considering these songs didn't come with XP or Vista. If i remember correctly, they were all labeled like "wma0001 - wma0009." How to remove ubunut dual boot and factory restore pc Posted: 25 Jan 2021 02:36 PM PST I need help fixing my windows 10 laptop that i installed ubuntu dual boot on. I tried to reset it and wipe hard drives but ubuntu is still there and the hard drive is still partitioned in weird ways. The laptop is quite loud and i am hoping that by removing ubuntu or resetting to factory default it can be quieter and faster.
