| How long does an Android version remain safe/usable? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 11:25 AM PST I'm not very good at fiddling with Android, but somehow managed to root my Redmi Note 5 (whyred). My stupid ass then installed TWRP (yes I rooted with no custom recovery); never used it, but today I was going to update to MIUI12 and the device booted to TWRP, which blocked the installation. The process to install the update on my cellphone, it seems, is quite complicated and includes a lot of risks. So I'd rather not update it. How long will my Android 9 + MIUI11 resist the passage of time? [link] [comments]  |
| How to choose input microphone? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:24 PM PST I want to use my built-in microphone on my Android 11 S20 FE instead of the microphone built into my bluetooth headphones. However, when I connect my headphones via bluetooth to the phone, it sets the input device to be my headphones. If I plug the headphones in via a 3.5mm to usb-c adapter, it doesn't seem to pick up audio in any way. I've searched so much to try to figure out how to choose my audio input, but everything I find has been only about output. Any idea what to do? [link] [comments]  |
| Waze in Android Auto has line direction blocked by battery bar Posted: 19 Jan 2021 05:05 PM PST When using Waze in Android Auto, the top bar was shifted up to the top of the phone screen, causing lane direction to be blocked off by the bar that showed battery and internet connection. | Posted: 19 Jan 2021 10:55 PM PST So my samsung a50s has been showing very sensitive touch lately, it doesnt react much when I just tap one spot, but when I press and hold a single spot on screen, touch doesnt remain stable it starts going haywire all over the area I pressed and very erratically, what should I do to solve this? is this touch screen issue or device setting issue? cuz I play games like codm and pubgm, so this kind of touch completely ruins performance [link] [comments]  |

The problem is that I do not have a strong signal, and the LTE+ is much slower that LTE at low signals(indoor). It is really frustrating watching a video on LTE and then it throttles when it automatically switches on carrier aggregation. Is there any code or setting I can stop CARRIER AGGREGATION? Thanks. | Just installed android x86 but having problems Posted: 19 Jan 2021 05:41 AM PST I just installed android x86 on an old PC and it only boots with the nomodeset flag. But when this flag is used it runs in a low resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio. When I boot without the flag I see the resolution change to 1080p but instead of the android logo appearing the screen just becomes a glitchy mess. I know it has an old Nvidia GPU but i'm not sure which one. EDIT: Marked as solved as I gave up and switched to xubuntu (I never actually fixed the issue) [link] [comments]  |

| Samsung J3 V issues - wifi and messages Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:15 PM PST My mom is having troubles with an older Samsung model and I own an iPhone so I'm not much help but can't seem to find any help online so I was hoping there might be someone here who can help. The problem started recently (1.14.2021) and didn't start happening until my younger sister turned off her data for her after a grocery pickup (but could have another source as we're not sure what's going on). Her wifi goes off on it's own which is one of the problems, I've turned on and off airplane mode to see if that would fix it but so far it hasn't. She has to restart her phone every time this happens because, not only does she lose the wifi, but she doesn't receive texts or calls in the evening. She's able to turn the wifi back on but no such luck on the calls or texts. So every morning she restarts her phone and it says she has missed calls or texts but can't access them. As well, it gives her a notification saying a blocked number had called but it's from weeks ago. She also has the issue where when she sends texts they aren't displayed in the log but those she sends them to have said that they've received them. So far, regarding messages, we've tried making sure "messages" was the preferred app, checking the battery to see if it was automatically turning off the wifi, and checking to make sure everything is up to date (which they all are). She's had the phone since May 2019 and so far this is the only problem she's had with it. We also know it doesn't have anything to do with our provider or our wifi as we have other, non-android related devices, that still work fine. We were hoping there was a solution we could do on our own as getting a brand new phone or taking it to get fixed isn't really an option for us. I really hope this wasn't too confusing but apologies if it is, I'm not an android user and have no idea how to 100% accurately describe the problem. Any help at all is much appreciated. Posted: 19 Jan 2021 08:02 PM PST Bought my wife a the phone as I had gotten myself the same model last spring. We're budget phone people and I adore the "Active" line. Mine has been working brilliantly - from the same seller, hers is in better physical shape too. Apparently she pulled it from her pocket (no exposure to moisture, etc.) and it appeared to be rebooting. Plugged it in when it wouldn't start after that, it would boot - for about 5 seconds. Finally it began bootlooping, dying instantly when unplugged. I can't get it into recovery mode either. Is replacing the battery the way to go? Is help on swappa possible? | How to stop.phone unlocking in my pocket. Posted: 19 Jan 2021 07:59 PM PST I have a Galaxy s9+ that keeps unlocking in my pocket. I don't care to have any sort of security on my phone because when I'm at work its a pain in the ass even getting my phone out of my pocket much less fiddling with a password. The phone doesn't have an in screen fingerprint sensor but when my screen is off and I swipe downward on the screen where a fingerprint sensor WOULD be it unlocks my phone. I cannot figure out how to identify the name of this feature or how to turn it off. Its causing my phone to unlock in my pocket CONSTANTLY. I would like for my phone to require I press the power putting to turn the screen on then swipe right to unlock but every time I pull my phone out of my pocket its already unlocked because of that stupid feature. This just started today, it's like my phone is detecting headphones that aren't there. I've tried restarting my phone twice, once with the jack in and taking it out after it starts up, I've also tried just plugging in headphones and taking them out several times and cleaning out the jack with a q-tip until no more dust came out. | How is auto-update supposed to work? Posted: 19 Jan 2021 01:40 PM PST In the Play Store I have auto-update enabled, and all notifications enabled. In the device's settings, notifications are allowed for the 'Google Play Store' app. But updates are not being installed. It appears that they're only automatically downloaded. I never see a notification on the lock screen or in the main notification panel, only if I go into the Play Store app. Is there anything else that needs to be enabled, or is this how it's intended to work? I had high hopes but my battery life so far is pretty poor for a brand new 4500mAh phone. I did read somewhere that switching from older versions of Android/Smart Switch in general caused problems for people. Would it be a good idea to do a wipe and start fresh? [link] [comments]  |

I always use the same PIN, so I'm pretty sure it's not a keystroke error. When I enter the PIN, it says "incorrect pin" and makes me wait 30 seconds before trying again. I don't believe I've made any recent changes to the phone. I also started it in safe mode, and was still unable to get in with the PIN. Some research on the web suggests that this is an android bug that has not yet been fixed. I'd really prefer not to have to do a factory reset, because I have a lot of important photos on the phone. I just purchased a Samsung Tab6 Lite and have what is most likely a dumb question, but can't find any help through google. For starters, in even just slightly dim lighting (where I can take a very clear selfie) the facial recognition works very poorly. My main issue however is I can't figure out how to change the lock screen timeout from what seems to be five seconds. I swear I've done it a million times on multiple Samsung phones but I am at a loss. Every search just turns up regular screen timeout or how long after timeout the device locks. I want it to give me a damn second to have my face recognized or enter a password (or have someone be able to read the "If found call blah blah blah" message I put on the lock screen). | My gps location is very far off Posted: 19 Jan 2021 12:16 PM PST I'm having an issue where my gps location on the map is incredibly far off. Ive tried the common fixes like flipping the phone and recalibrating gps and tried a few gps diagnostics apps that say how many sattilites im connected to (have no idea what the app does) It will show my position on a map almost a half a mile in any random direction from where i am. it will never update correctly.... until a few hours into a car trip will it "somewhat" show what road im on correctly. but it will still show me driving backwards or facing weird directions and never give turn by turn directions. the phone is an sch-r960 [link] [comments]  |

Those two were my go to for weather widgets.
