Few weeks ago this blank icon appeared in chrome. Since then chrome’s been slow, stutters, can’t play videos and sometimes crashes. Every time I ‘remove from chrome’ it reappears after a while. I’ve run virus scans (Windows defender) and found nothing. Can’t seem to delete chrome. Help please! Tech Support

Recovery folder is empty but still takes up 15 gb

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 01:31 PM PST

WINDOWS 10, HP LAPTOP, SSD, IDK THE GRPAHICS CARD (sorry it deleted my title cause it was having trouble loading and I just wrote one fast)

Short version as title says, long version:

I believe my fan is what's causing the funny noises and is slowing my laptop down. Was told to open up the case and clean out the fan. I am in the process of backing up my files and it's giving me anxiety cause i dont want to lose them and this just threw me off. it's an HP idk what model or graphics card but i was told cheap SSDs are usually not good and HP is a printer company so also not a good brand. Any help is welcome, even if you wanna yell at me to always back up files!

I think someone is accessing remotely my phone

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 11:59 AM PST

After a long day I opened a site with porn (x.videos) and started until the it started tapping videos by itself. Then it tapped my home button and I couldn't tap it or generally that tap that area to open a new tab and it started tapping in the home in the search bar my first result when I opened to write there, I first opened my default antivirus it didn't find shit, then after I went into the play store I looked for an antivirus but it wouldn't let me it made me go back to the home page, when I searched for something except an antivirus it stopped but completely it never tapped anything again, I downloaded avast, it found a 19.....28crdownload it said it may be harmful I deleted it and it hasn't done anything since... I got paranoid what if I have a backdoor in my phone and a hacker is remotely accessing it? Or is it just that my screen started ghost touching my phone at the wrong moment... As a panic move I deleted anything in my phone except gmail... What should I do? Plz I have an exam tomorrow and I'm panicked af by this , so much that I can't study

Laptop shuts down on its own after lighting strike

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 05:55 AM PST

So a few hours ago, a lightning strike hit the road next to me . Mt laptop was turned on at the moment and with power plug . Immediately after the strike, the laptop turned off. I plugged of the power cable and waited for 5 minutes. Then I plugged again the power cable and the laptops signs lit indicating that it charges . My laptop booted but after a while it shut down on its own again . I tried this several times and the laptop kept on from 1 to 5 minutes. Any idea how to save my poor laptop? Is it the power supply unit?

BTW my router ,my printer and TV died from the strike :(

    Reinstalling windows

    Posted: 12 Jan 2021 08:25 AM PST

Hey guys, sorry to bother for this but i am having trouble understanding how to install Windows 10 on a new nvme.

So i have a laptop in which l have already removed the hdd and replaced it with 2.5" sata SSD. I have moved all the data there and added m.2 nvme.

So now i want to install windows 10 on the nvme and i already have bootable usb drive to that. But my question is how this installation is going to work when booting windows? ( I will have to put boot priority on the nvme, but if i already have on the other ssd wouldn't that mean i have 2 installations?)

Or i can use a tool to migrate windows to the nvme and then reinstall it in case there is corrupted files or something?

I am making this complicated but the last time i did reinstall windows it was long time ago so apologies for my stupid questions.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Guys, just copied this one from the other post i made earlier today. Any lead on what i should do would be appreciated.

I dont torrent or download anything from suspicious sites - except for one game from steamunlocked but nothing triggered my antivirus .

Trying to set up my Xbox on a hotel tv

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 05:16 PM PST

Currently staying at a Wyndham hotel and Trying to set up my Xbox. Every video I watched says to unplug either an Ethernet cable, or that kind of cable that you have to screw in. In this case it's a screw in one, I unscrewed it and the hotel channels were disabled however the hdmi isn't reading that anything is plugged in. Is it possible that they've found a way to disable the hdmi port and is there a way to get it to work again?

Computer Desktop Background Turned Black Mystery

    Posted: 11 Jan 2021 09:12 PM PST

Hello. Early this morning, my computer desktop background turned black and I wanted to get to the bottom of why. All of the information that I have is; I've ran three quick scans (BitDefender, Malwarebytes and Windows Defender) and none of them have seemed to pick up anything. As I type this, I'm currently doing a full system scan with BitDefender and Malwarebytes - and they've not picked up anything malicious thus far. This is on top of having no malware detections due to BitDefender's firewall, which I can't see any big break-ins through checking the logs.

I'm extremely worried about the possibility of being hacked or remote accessed. I haven't noticed my mouse moving or any other unusual activity on my computer - But I did notice that my BitDefender VPN had lost it's subscription (after trying to turn it on the moment I saw my desktop was black) despite using it rather frequently. It was easily fixed, but I'm unsure if it was related or not. I'm a decently secruity-savvy person besides my liberal use of firewall/security software (2FA on most things, password managers) so this is again, deeply concerning.

When changing back my desktop, (through Window's personalisation settings) I noticed that the background was called mystery_bg_00o. I can not find anything through Google when it comes to this name. Completely blank.

Please let me know if there's anything that I can do or send over to get help with my problem. I'm desperately anxious, and any help or questions would be appreciated to give me peace of mind! Hopefully it was a technical/graphical bug that I can prevent from happening again in some way.
