Please don't update your OnePlus 8T to OxygenOS 11.0.6.7 Posted: 29 Dec 2020 06:48 AM PST After almost a month of sitting on a mountain of bugs, imagine my delight when I saw an update arrive for my almost 3 month old OnePlus 8T. But this update has made the phone almost unusable. I'm typing this on the 8T and I can constantly see the keyboard freezing for a second or two constantly before the text appears on the screen. The lag is visible while using the phone normally too, not what you expect on a new flagship. The issues don't end there, as the bugs seems to have plagued the whole phone. Video keeps lagging, volume button doesn't work, heck, even listening to WhatsApp voice notes is an issue, as they keep pausing. Also, looks like I'm not the only one facing all of this, have a look at the thread on the OnePlus Community: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-11-0-6-7-for-the-oneplus-8t.1369293/ So, after a super hassle induced typing experience, I just wanna say that if you have a OnePlus 8T, DON'T update it to OxygenOS 11.0.6.7. I hope OnePlus fixes this hot garbage of an update soon. Update: So I have found a workaround to get the phone to be usable for unlucky people like me who have updated to this godforsaken version. Try using the phone in the Battery Saver mode. This fixed the stuttering issue for me. However, the volume button malfunctioning and Bluetooth issue still remain. Here's hoping we get out of this mess soon enough! [link] [comments]
OnePlus won't repair a back plate if the front screen is scratched. Now what? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 03:27 PM PST So I rolled the dice and sent my OnePlus 6 in to OnePlus for repair. I had dropped it and the back glass was cracked, and it also had a small chip near the top of the front. I figured getting the back plate replaced would let me use the phone for another year or two. The plate costs $20, plus $30 for service. They won't replace it, however, without also replacing the $100 working screen. So, I'm looking for suggestions. Should I...
Any input would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments]
A confused OP user's question on upgrading Posted: 29 Dec 2020 04:34 PM PST I bought my OP 7 pro a few months ago since it was in sale, and I love it. Coming from an old moto with a 720p display, I take this as a huge upgrade. And I don't seem to be the ONLY one, as there are plenty who upgrade to these newer phones and stay with them. But I'm also seeing all these posts about upgrading right away to the next model, when their OS support isn't even done on the model they have. With the new qualcomm 888 chipset I can maybe see an upgrade then. But going from a snapdragon 855/55+ to 865/65+ doesn't seem like a huge enough jump in performance to me. People who do do this, what made you want to upgrade from say a 7t to an 8t? Is there really a noticeable jump in smoothness/performace? Besides the fact of a 120 hz screen. [link] [comments]

OnePlus 3T - 7 Days Between Charges! Posted: 29 Dec 2020 10:57 AM PST https://i.imgur.com/zDe7F1f.jpg No SIM + Battery Saver On. I'm running an S10 as my main phone and 3T as my work email/Slack machine that I check periodically, so SOT isn't much. :) It's just a "nice" moment when you can make the battery run this long. Posted: 29 Dec 2020 06:47 PM PST Hi, I recently got an 8T and for some reason it doesn't charge in the car. I use an anker 4 ports/48w car charger that worked perfectly with my 7T. With the 8T the battery icon change to the charging one but it will very slowly continue to lose charge even if I don't use the phone. Any idea what could cause that? [link] [comments]
Where can I buy a 7 pro that's reliable? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:38 AM PST I am looking to buy a 7 pro and have searched to find the best place to buy one. I have looked at the amazon renewed/refurbished listings but the reviews are up and down so I'm not sure. I'm also not too keen on eBay or something else like Swappa. Should I try my luck with Amazon or just go for eBay or another service. [link] [comments]
OnePlus 8 Pro Tempered Glass/Case Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:39 AM PST I'm having trouble finding a great case/tempered glass combo. My go to was the OtterBox defender but they dont seem to make them for the 8 Pro. I currently have the Spigen Liquid Air and it really pales in comparison for protection. Also, the film screen protectors feel like I am really rolling the dice on messing up such a wonderful screen, are there any tempered glass protectors that anyone would reccommend that dont have any issues with the rounded screen? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [link] [comments]
Can't add fingerprint 9n my oneplus 8T Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:22 AM PST I recently got the oneplus screen protector for my 8T and the fingerprint recognition was significantly worse. In the package it said that I had to re-enter my fingerprint, so i removed the old ones but when I try to re-enter my fingerprint it says that the sensor is dirty and won't register a new. There is no dust or bubbles under the protector. I'm not sure if I kan live without the fingerprint sensor, but is there a way to register a new print without having to waste the protector. Oops, typo in the title, on* [link] [comments]
Buying advice - Wich OP to buy? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 02:16 AM PST I've had Oneplus phones since the start (1, 3, 5, 5T) and i was/am always happy with them. Right now my GF has a 5 and I have a 5T. They both still work like a charm, but the camera's could use an upgrade. This is where i'm stuck a bit. In the reviews they are always nitpicking on the camera. But is the camera 5% less good than the Pixel phones or 50%. I take a lot of pictures, but is it noticeable for a non YouTube creator or non reviewer? Next to this I always buy the one with the most RAM/Storage. This will make sure that i can use it a bit longer. I always use phones for 3 or 4 years, so the higher price is not a big issue. But the 12GB/256GB is nowhere in stock (in the Netherlands). Only the 8GB/128GB - that is the same as my current 5T and It's already getting crowded in there :) . The 8 Pro is to big. So i'm looking at the 8T. But is the camera good enough, and would it be safe to buy the 8GB/128GB? Or wait until there is stock of the 12GB/256GB or even wait until the 9/9T? [link] [comments]

Why does 7T automatically turn on with public WiFi? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:24 AM PST Don't know if it's just me but my phone turns wifi on automatically and tries to connect with a public WiFi near me. How do I stop this? I don't mind if it did that to my home network but trying to connect to a public WiFi, I have security concerns and sometimes it messes up my connection. [link] [comments]

Any way to help random shutting off? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 09:27 AM PST I've had a Oneplus 6T for almost two years now and originally it only did the random shut off/restart once in a very long while, but now it's doing it almost daily and it lasts longer too, it's super annoying and nothing I've tried really helps. Any suggestions on how to help or do I need a new phone [link] [comments]

How to set a different lock screen background image than the home screen background one? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 08:41 AM PST Hello I've been struggling with this issue as described in the title, from what I've seen by searching online there SHOULD be an option to "Set as lock screen" but in every app I've tried the one and only setting that appears is just for home screen and lock screen combined, no option anywhere to set something ONLY as home screen and something else ONLY as lock screen. I have a OP Nord 5G Any help would be nice ~ [link] [comments]
Any good wireless charger alternative for my OP8pro ? Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:54 AM PST Hello, Bought an OP8pro for among others things wireless charging. Unfortunately, can't buy the official wireless charger on official OnePlus UK store because it's always out of stock, which is, in my opinion, completely unreal and disappointing for a company like OnePlus... Anyway... So my question is : do you know a good wireless charger alternative for my OP8pro ? Thanks a lot Cheers [link] [comments]

Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:52 PM PST I currently have an IPhone 7 and am in the market for a new phone. I am by no means an enthusiast, but I am into tech (more on the PC side). I can get the OnePlus 8T for $375 on T-Mobile and it's my number one option. With 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, the Snapdragon 865, 120hz amoled display it's a hell of a deal. I know it would be night and day compared to my 7, the one hang up is the camera. Is the camera a big enough dealbreaker that I shouldn't buy the 8T? Its disconcerting to see people who have decided it's a big enough turn-off to switch away. But coming from the 7 I feel I will have less qualms with the camera, and I don't necessarily take tons of photos so I'm unsure. [link] [comments]
OP8 - Questions about flashing and convert-to-global Posted: 28 Dec 2020 10:00 PM PST OnePlus 8 [WINDOWS PC] here; It's supposed to detect the device and immediately resume the installation, but what happens is my phone is in the fastbootd menu whilst my terminal is stuck on "<waiting for any device...>" If I reboot into recovery, nothing happens. If I reboot into normal fastboot, I get error messages such as "Command not found" and "Cannot flash to critical partitions!" Would this work any better if I ran it on a linux os? If not, what's the problem? [link] [comments] |
