Computer freezes after windows updates are installed Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:08 AM PST OS: Server 2019 My server freezes after installing windows updates and rebooting. These are the updates in question: 2020-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 for Windows Server 2019 for x64 (KB4586082) 2020-11 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2019 (1809) for x64-based Systems (KB4586793) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.84 (KB890830) Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.327.1938.0) The only way I can get things back to normal is to hit F8 during boot, then selecting Last known good configuration. Once that boots up, it freezes again right away, and then I reboot and hit F8 again, and do last known good configuration a second time. This gets me back to a stable state. [link] [comments]

How to fix stripped screws that hold in a battery for HP Spectre x360 laptop? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 04:26 PM PST So I need to replace my laptops battery and the screws to take off the battery were so hard to take off that I stripped them. There's 5 of them and only 2 were able to be taken out. I've tried and asked every repair shop and they basically said they do not want to be liable if they end up breaking the computer and I understand that. So what can I do to fix this problem? Should I just get a special tool to try and see if I can get the screws out? Or take it to an HP service center location? Thanks. [link] [comments]
(Win10) Great unresolved mystery of sudden Intel Graphic Driver fail. Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:49 PM PST So I am out of ideas. I have a laptop - Asus TUF Gaming 504GM. I have it for almost 2 years and never really got any problems, I care about it etc. Suddenly, yesterday it asked me to restart because Windows update. After restarting it only showed Asus logo and then black screen. Ooops. So I got into Win 10 advanced tools and tried to uninstall last update. Black screen. Uninstall last MAJOR update, black screen. I tried to restore to point from 3 days ago. Black screen. Factory reset with no wipe. Black screen. Factory reset with wipe. Yup, black screen. Then on another computer I created clean Win10 usb. I booted from USB, formatted my drives and installed clean windows. Installation froze 2 or three times but ultimately it worked. Now I noticed after such install my laptop seemed to work very sluggish, animation drops and whatnot. I started to update all my drivers until... during installing Intel HD 630 graphic driver I got sudden black screen. It persisted after reboot so I enetered safe mode, uninstalled this driver and rebooted. It booted just fine. Then I started to install every possible Intel 630 driver I came along, from Asus, older ones, new from intel, different kinds from Microsoft but every one is giving me black screen. And I am stuck with generic VGA driver - my laptop is super sluggish and I have literally 5 FPS in games even when I set it to NVidia 1060. Laptop is almost unusable. I tried to update my bios etc. nothing helped. And the best thing is - there are TON of threads over the internet with same issue. Only it seems it doesn't affect only my model or only Asus laptops, there are people with Lenovos, Dells, Alienwares etc. and it spans across at least 3 years. Always same thing, update - then black screen after installing Intel Graphic driver. Despite there being lots of threads, no one ever managed to provide solution. I don't know what to do anymore...
