    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 06:37 AM PST

personalDNSfilter - a DNS filter with encrypted DNS support - for your privacy.
Tiny but effective, easy on system resources.

personalDNSfilter is a DNS filter app for Android. It hooks into the domain name (DNS) resolution and blocks access to filtered hosts. It can be used for filtering any unwanted hosts which are related to malware, phishing, tracking and more based on a host list.

It will be an eye opener, when you see the personalDNSfilter live log showing all the different domains accessed from your mobile under the hood.

On Android 4.2 and newer it can be used as effective malware, tracking and ad server filter without root access!

personalDNSfilter is also a DNS changer app, you can set any upstream DNS server you trust. It also supports encrypted DNS servers via DoH (DNS over HTTPS) and DoT (DNS over TLS).

Filtering is completely local - no tracking, no data is sent to us!

You can run it locally on your device or centrally as DNS server in your network.

A telegram community is already in place, with friendly peoplefrom around the world, willing to support you.

    Features:

    - Supports rooted and non-rooted devices
    - Lightweight (<400 KB approx.)
    - Negligible RAM consumption (~15 MB approx.)
    - Battery friendly
    - Inbuilt DNS changer (can use custom DNS)
    - Hosts blocking- Domain blocking
    - Supports pattern blocking (ads)
    - Supports manual adding domains for whitelisting & blacklisting
    - Supports DoH & DoT
    - DNSCRYPT-PROXY integration (can start, stop and work together with dnscrypt-proxy)
    - Supports application whitelisting for excluded apps from getting filtered
    - Can do network wide blocking on your home network (requires root)
    - No data mining (your data is your data - privacy first)
    - Desktop version for PC & Raspberry Pi
    - Also works as a network logger (users can see what domains are being connected to device)
    - Works with (some) other VPN tools/apps e.g. OpenVPN

[App] QR Code Copy and Save

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 11:42 AM PST

    Hi all

Because I started to use 2FA for some of my subscriptions I wanted to find a way to do a backup of the QR Code generate as 2FA key. I didn't find any good solution for my need than I decided to develop my own solution. The Android app linked here basically do a copy of the scanned QR code and save it locally as raw image or zipped with password option of a better security. Please tell me what you think about. I'm thinking to add the feature to save QR code in raw string also. It's free but with bottom banner AD.

[DEV] OurFlat - Shared shopping list, finances, tasks for roommates, couples, etc (250 promo codes)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 05:54 AM PST

Hi everyone, we just released our first Android app called OurFlat. Here is a demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tseK6sSSejI

    How it works:

You create a flat and invite everyone you want to join.

You get a shared shopping list, that is synchronised with everyone and where people can reserve items they will buy. The suggestions will learn what you buy often and help you a lot.

You get the finance section, where you can track any expenses, and with the promo code you get the pro version so you can split in any way you like, amount, percentage, share.

You get the tasks section, where you can create and assign tasks, repeat them in any way you like, set reminders and collect points for completion.

You can get it on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ourflat.app (there is also an iOS version: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ourflat/id1530007409)

If you want a promo code for 1 month pro for free, just leave a comment and I'll respond asap. (See if promo codes are available in your country: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/3422734)

How to redeem the promo code:

    • Go to play store
    • Tap the drawer icon
    • Go to redeem and paste the code

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! We look forward to hearing from you.

LIVE // AirSend App Updates - Chat, Files, Tasks, and Notes in One Place with 100 GB Free File Storage

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 10:43 AM PST

    Hello all,

We posted about our app - AirSend - a month ago in November, and I wanted to give a quick update because we've made so many improvements over the past 30 days.

Just a quick reminder: AirSend is a simple contextual workspace app that brings all your conversations, files, to-do lists, and notes into one place so that you can get work done better and faster.

    Here are our recent improvements:

Suggest Users When Creating a Channel: Instead of typing out a user's full email address, AirSend suggests previous users you have been in a channel with.

Call Notifications: Whenever there is a call in AirSend, your phone will now ring like a phone call. This will help alert users to ongoing or new meetings happening.

Full Wiki Editing: Your wiki is like your built-in notebook. Easily edit and design what you want your notebook to look like with full markdown support. You can also attach links and files from your android to your wiki.

Full Audio/Video Calling Support: Android users can now take their meetings with them on-the-go. With a click of a button or through slash commands, easily start your meetings.

To Get AirSend Pro Free for an entire year, sign up before December 15th.

To download AirSend visit Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.airsend.android

Aegis 2FA app: how to import icons package?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 09:57 AM PST

    Hi all

I was looking for a good 2FA app and I found Aegis . It sook so good and with interesting features. However in the github project page is reported the possibility to load an external icon package connected to various service offering 2FA. The explanation here report the following:

Users can download an icon pack from the internet and import it into Aegis through the settings menu. Aegis extracts the icon pack to icons/{uuid}/{version}, relative to its internal storage directory. So for the example icon pack above, that'd be: icons/e77dbfb5-30d6-468d-bf74-37f07734bcf5/1.0. If it has an old version of the icon pack, it will be removed after successful extraction of the newer version.

However I don't find any settings able to import the zip package in the current version 1.3 of the app. Someone know how to do the import?

    Thank you

When sorting playlists on the YouTube app by "recently added", it now randomly puts playlists at the top. Anyone know a fix?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 08:23 AM PST

This is kind of hard to describe but basically I have a bunch of playlists on YouTube. I use it mostly for music. What I do is when I find a new song I like, I'll add it to my current playlist. When that playlist reaches around 50-60 songs, I'll start the next playlist. I started out numbering them then when I reached playlist #21, I started doing it alphabetically. I'm currently on playlist "R".

That said, since my most recent playlist is "Music R", that should be at the top since I have it sorted by "recently added", right? Wrong. A few weeks ago, YouTube started putting random playlists at the top of the list. Every day it puts a random few of my other playlists at the top. Some of them I haven't even touched in years.

See my picture that shows what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/a/rAKu6Ii

Any idea how to fix this? If I don't add any new songs to my current playlist, I end up having to scroll nearly to the bottom of the list to find it.

    Hi,

I recently recharged my phone with a prepaid plan which offered 1GB data per day. Post recharge, after 15 mins I got an SMS from the operator saying that I have only 500MB data left to use for the day. My phone was connected to 4G network and auto update on Google Play is set to Wifi only.

Please can you recommend me a good app to monitor Web Traffic?

Device not supported for new BBC iPlayer

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:49 PM PST

I've been using the BBC iPlayer app to download some shows to watch later. I went to watch an episode today (Tuesday) that I downloaded on Sunday. I got a message that iPlayer needed to be updated. After I did, I received a message that the app wasn't supported on my device (Nexus 7; Android 6.01). I tried a system update, but I'm already current. Am I SOL, or is there another way around this?

    TIA

An app to download, manage, edit and view files?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2020 04:50 AM PST

Something like Documents by Readdle which is for IOS. There's a clone of it for Android but I don't think it's legitimate. One thing id like to be able to do is go onto an in-app browser with which I can download things, and I'd like to be able to play mp3 files when the app is closed as well as slowing down the playback.

In the past, I used to used an app called 2ndLine (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enflick.android.tn2ndLine) But its not available anyomore in my country to download! Even though a friend of mine managed to download it, it seems that its not able to make any calls anymore for free, as it usually gave before. Please suggest any working alternatives. Thank you

What is An App Lock that cannot be circumvented? (I've tried AppLock and Norton)

    Posted: 01 Dec 2020 08:17 PM PST

I don't want to root/JailBreak my phone. Most apps can be circumvented because

1)It seems after some time their permission to access certain functionalities gets expired/reversed and hence they do not work. When I run the app(e.g. AppLock,Norton,...) again, it asks again for permissions and when I give the permission things work well (the permission is usually in setting and is not the simple access files permission)

    2) Sometimes by a combination of closing App lock(e.g. AppLock,Norton,...) and/or the locked app(target app) one can circumvent the lock.
