Posted: 01 Dec 2020 10:13 AM PST Okay, so I seek something to cover this awful Glastic back panel on my Galaxy M51 and Dbrand doesn't seem to support this model (yet?). Do you have any high quality/tested alternatives? Preferably from USA or European companies. Thank you in advance! [link] [comments] |
Screen recording with internal audio? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 04:39 PM PST Galaxy S9 here and I can screen record with both mic and internal but I'm trying to record the internal audio on a browser. Is there A browser that allows internal audio recording or is there a way for me to give permission to such? Using chrome currently. [link] [comments] |
How can I screen record with the actual sound? (Pixel 5) Posted: 01 Dec 2020 10:30 PM PST When I screen record, no matter which option I choose, it doesn't let me record the actual sound that comes from my phone. I am not talking about the microphone which records the speaker, but the sound straight from the phone, if that makes sense. The only options it gives me before I record is: Record audio (Microphone) Show touches on screen There is a drop down menu for record audio, and it shows: Microphone Device audio (Sounds from your device like music, calls, and ringtones) Microphone and device audio And when I select device audio and press start to record, the recorded video just doesn't have any sound. Is there a way to fix this? If this is just not me, I wouldnt get why they wouldn't fix this problem. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
How can I edit a video without a third party app? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 10:14 PM PST When I record a video, and then press the three bars at the bottom, I can only stabilize it, trim it, and mute it. I cannot even crop it. Is there a way to crop, filter, and adjust it like you would do to a photo? [link] [comments] |
Gboard keeps Getting Dismissed Posted: 01 Dec 2020 11:38 AM PST This is a very strange problem on my Pixel 5. Gboard keeps getting dismissed as if I pushed back. I turned 'show on tap' on to see if it's a phantom touch but it wasn't that. Gboard just had an update today but this problem began before any update to Gboard. Here is a video showing the problem. Rebooting fixes the problem temporarily but it comes back randomly. What could be the problem? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2020 09:45 PM PST This has kinda made me paranoid. Does this indicate a virus? I'm using a Huawei Y9 prime. I declined the unknown call and that's when this happened. I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not. I searched it up but nothing of use popped up. Appreciate any help! [link] [comments] |
Do not Disturb Mode While Driving Posted: 01 Dec 2020 05:58 PM PST I recently got a Galaxy S10 and whenever I drive it automatically turns on the Do not Disturb Mode, which is fine however it recently has been turning on when I'm in the car with someone or at work which also stops notifications to watch which can be a problem since I'm a nurse and we communicate via our phones. I have looked through the Do not Disturb categories and I don't see anything pertaining to driving- I've only seen an option to turn it on and off. How do I stop it from turning on during driving or me apparently moving too fast? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2020 09:36 PM PST I used adb to remove one UI 1 for samsung j2 pure, now the recent apps page doesn't work, even after I reinstalled one UI. It's keeps stopping Is there anything I can do? [link] [comments] |
With hangouts dying, what am i supposed to use to coordinate family communication? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 02:54 AM PST So my family has iPhone's, so we can't use iMessage or FaceTime since I have android and we live now in different countries. At first we tried WhatsApp but this became complicated with all the phone number changes and the fact that WhatsApp Web isn't really a reasonable substitution for when you want to have a video call between laptops. Ethernet to ethernet can sometimes be useful/necessary as not everyone has fiber. Centralized solutions, though not great for privacy, are great for convenience. Hangouts one click group video call was really nice. Meet's Rooms are a nightmare for GSUITE to begin with but they aren't even available for Google One... So I guess what alternative centralized equivalent exists for androd user's trying to link up communications. Do we go back to Skype? Seems strange. Facebook messenger wouldn't work as my parent's don't have a FB. Maybe discord could actually work? I mean i guess it's got good text chat, call channels, and also video calls right? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 05:00 PM PST Idk how it happened, but I got play rewards somehow associated with the wrong Gmail account. Any ideas on what's good to spend money on with an account that isn't my android account? Or any way to transfer credits? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2020 04:57 PM PST I recently switched from an iPhone to a Note 20 Ultra. The phone is amazing except I can't really do group chats in messages. Before activating the Note 20 Ultra, I turned off iMessage on every Apple device I have and even went to their website to deregister my phone number from iMessage for good measure, but for some reason group chats are severely hit or miss. For example, in one particular group chat I see messages from one person but not the others; all iPhone users. I've tried deleting the group chat and starting it again but the result is the same. It looks like a second thread was started on their end but I can still only see one person's messages. In another group chat I can't see anyone's messages. I confirmed with each person in a 1 on 1 text that they sent a message to the group chat to make sure it wasn't a situation where people just hadn't replied yet. Also, I can message the other people individually. They see my messages and I see theirs. I originally tried to speak to Verizon Tech Support via their chat feature and the person just told me to make everyone else turn off iMessage on their phones and ended the conversation. Not helpful at all. So I went to Best Buy where I purchased the phone for help. They just told me to call Apple. I didn't really expect them to be the troubleshooting experts anyway so that's fine I guess. I spoke to Apple who ironically worked the hardest out of a anyone to try and fix the issue. They confirmed my number is in fact deregistered from iMessage but this issue persists. So I tried to give Verizon Tech Support a second try and called them this time. The Tier 1 person didn't seem to really fully grasp what the issue was. Also after trying a couple of things, instead of transferring me to Tier 2 support at Verizon, they connected me with Samsung Tech Support. Seemed odd to me but Samsung made the phone so I went with it. I spoke to Samsung Tech Support where they had me try a few other steps including:
None of this fixed the issue. So here I am. I REALLY like this Note 20 Ultra but what's the point of a communication device I can't effectively communicate with? I'd prefer to keep it though so I figured I'd make one last ditch effort to figure this out. With all of that said, has anyone made the switch from iPhone to Android and successfully got group text working? [link] [comments] |

Is there any way for me to limit my fps to 15? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 01:41 PM PST I made a gag game where the fps determine how hard to game is, making it easier on the worst possible phone you can find. is it possible for me to limit my fps on my screen to 15 without root? if not, is rooting safe? what are the odds of me bricking my phone? I'd just like to keep that as a last resort though. edit: on a Galaxy S20 plus [link] [comments] |
Having Waze and Google Maps Trouble with Android Auto, need some help. Posted: 01 Dec 2020 07:39 PM PST I've got an S10 and I drive a 2020 Elantra, so the technology is relatively up to date. I took a trip with my wife to Georgia over Thanksgiving and I found a few issues with both Waze and Google Maps:
I just need some solutions on how to fix this problem, we almost got really lost multiple times and it just caused a lot of frustration. [link] [comments] |
Android Go and how to avoid it Posted: 01 Dec 2020 01:22 PM PST I recently bought a budget smartphone with Android 10... or so I thought. I couldn't get my work phone app to work on it, then had a problem with the settings the error message took me to. I contacted support who told me that my phone OS was Android 10 Go, which is a scaled down version of Android and doesn't have all the functionality. I looked back at the phone listing and it said in the header, summary and spec that it was Android 10. Only in a condensed text lower down did it say Android 10 Go. I contacted the seller and have got a refund on the basis that it wasn't made clear. Is there any way to be certain the next phone I buy has the full Android 10? I can scour the small print and ask the seller - but can I also check for myself when I get it? The problem with using the work phone app as a test is that it's pretty flaky on any phone. I can't remember what the restricted settings were, to try those. With the Android 10 Go phone, when I looked at System Update it said the OS was "Android 10" (although it had the restricted functionality of Go), which I found confusing. Is there any way to tell when I have a phone other than "see if anything doesn't work"? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
"do you want to allow access to cellular network?" Posted: 01 Dec 2020 01:01 PM PST Hello! Not sure if it's the right subreddit to post question like that so please excuse me. After updating my phone yesterday (MIUI update on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 8t) i'm having problem with one of the games i'm playing. When i'm trying to turn it on it shows a popup with the question from the title and the only option i can choose is "CANCEL" which of course closes my game. I tried installing the app again but it didn't do anything. Is there something i can do about it? [link] [comments] |

Is there any way to turn off automatic system updates on a Galaxy s9? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 02:23 PM PST My phone seems to auto-update randomly whenever it likes at the absolute worse times, making my phone unusable for 30+ minutes. This is quite dangerous for me as as I'm a diabetic and I use android to control my insulin pump and receive blood sugar numbers. I just missed an important call because it installed a major system update at 3pm today and I've had my last straw. I've looked everywhere and everyone just says to go into update settings however it seems they have gotten rid of the option to control system updates at least on galaxy models. Would this require rooting my phone or something similar? Thanks [link] [comments] |
How to turn off read receipts? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 02:06 PM PST I don't know if I am posting in the right place so I apologize in advance if I am not. If I do not have FB messenger and someone else does, is there a way for them to not see when I read their message? I really don't like people knowing I read their messages. Maybe I am not ready to respond. [link] [comments] |
Help needed: Best way to "lock down" an Android tablet for an elderly person? Posted: 01 Dec 2020 03:20 AM PST My grandmother, over 90 years old and almost completely deaf, currently uses an old iPad with a messenger app in "guided access" mode, to look at family photos that we send to her. The iPad is completely locked down, i.e. the messenger cannot be exited, the iPad cannot be rotated. This is a built-in feature of iOS, and it appears as if a similar function is also available on Android. Also, when the magnetic display cover is lifted, the iOS lock screen is automatically skipped, and the messenger is opened. This is already working quite good, but not good enough... for example, she may accidentally click somewhere which shows a dialog that she is then unable to close by herself. And explaining to her on the phone what she should do is not possible because of her bad hearing. Basically, what I'd need is some kind of VNC server where I could remotely logon (completely unattended, i.e. there must be no popup of any kind on the device) and then get the tablet back to a working state again. There are several commercial solutions, but of course I'd prefer something free. I think scrcpy seems to be what I'm looking for. My idea would be to:
What I'm not sure about is the behaviour of ADB after a device reboot. Is ADB over WiFi automatically started after a reboot? Or does the user need to re-enable it each time? If the latter, I guess there would be some way to achieve this by rooting the device and putting a custom script in some "autostart" location? Lastly, is it possible to restrict areas on the screen that can be selected? Ideally, I would only like to allow certain areas to be selected, to avoid that she may accidentally delete a chat, or open some random dialog. Thanks in advance for your help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Dec 2020 04:03 PM PST I can't get split screen to work. I enabled it in settings but when I look at the recents page it only shows a button that lets me pop out the app, not split it. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Dec 2020 12:54 PM PST I'm really at the end of my tether. I am a long time Android user who always buys a flagship device. My latest flagship (oneplus 8 pro) has been a massive disappointment due to poor battery performance. I'm in the process of looking for a new Android phone but is it me or is Android in a bad place at this moment. I'm in Europe so after been burnt more then once I refuse to buy Samsung exynos phones. The best phone I owned over the past few years was the Huawei Mate 20 pro but sadly they are out of the equation due to the Trump administration. I have checked out YouTube videos to bypass the lack of Google on their devices but I lost interest once I saw the size of the punch hole on the P40 pro and the mate 40 pro is out of my price range €1200. So my dilemma is what phone do I go with? I have spent hours looking at reviews but no phone stands out. I don't game on a phone but as I said I always buy flagship for the premium feel Battery performance and features without going to funny money. I did seriously consider the pixel 5 but I wasn't impressed with the plastic finish. I'd really appreciate any suggestions as I'm getting so desperate I'm worried I'm going to have to start considering Apple. Thanks for reading [link] [comments] |
