Can anyone help me identify this app, its function, and if it necessary on my device? Posted: 02 Oct 2020 08:40 PM PDT So I'm using CCleaner to clear my cache, and while scrolling through the apps, I noticed this app.. For reference, I'm on a stock Samsung Galaxy S9+ (Model: SM-G965U) I tried to Google it, but most descriptions say, "Bio snap for Android empowers the fingerprint scanner on the Google Nexus 5X or 6P for capturing selfies" Is this a baked-in function on Android? Images not properly moving from downloads. Posted: 02 Oct 2020 06:49 AM PDT My question is, is there a way to disable them? When I move images from downloads to any other folder, it makes a "false" copy. They become visible in both folders, but it's like it's the same file in both folders, so if I delete either version of the image, it deletes both, which means that unfortunately moving them and then deleting the version in downloads isn't an option. I tend to download images from games and the like when I'm bored, and then organizing them into relevant folders, and tend to just leave miscellaneous images (like memes) in downloads, so it gets pretty tedious when my download folder is bloated with stuff I would normally organize out. Any idea how to prevent this? [link] [comments] |

How can I stop my photos from turning red? Posted: 02 Oct 2020 04:08 PM PDT https://m.imgur.com/a/Aj08cI9 here's a picture of one of my cats, and a screenshot of the camera app from right before I took it. The weird thing is that if I take a picture and press the button in the bottom left to open it, it looks fine for a second or two before it turns red. I reset the app's settings in hopes of solving it, but that didn't seem to do anything. I'm on a Galaxy A51 if that matters. [link] [comments] |

Recent contacts lost - Galaxy s20 Posted: 02 Oct 2020 06:16 PM PDT Hey everyone. A few days ago I had a notification some sort about losing my contacts saved. I must have been working or busy or something because I either dismissed it or accepted it without thinking anything of it. Couple days later and suddenly I notice the majority of my contacts are all missing. I thought that I've always saved contacts in Google but when I check it shows that my Google contacts are synced. Did anyone experience this recently? Was there a setting change with an update? Sansung S20 on Android 10. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Is Android TV OS a good OS for a smart TV? Posted: 02 Oct 2020 05:51 PM PDT I just bought a new TV that apparently runs Android 9 and I'm wondering if Android is a good, secure OS for a TV. I've used Android phones for years but eventually switched to iOS and Apple products/ecosystem, partly because Android tends to be less secure and seems to frequently get malware/viruses. They also aren't updated as frequently as iOS is. I realize that by choosing Apple products I am choosing to sacrifice freedom and customization in a way in exchange for Apples walled garden, but besides for possible security concerns I have no real problems with Android. However, I've never used Android as an OS on a TV. How is it? Does it get regular updates/fixes/security updates? Is it smooth? Secure? Thanks guys, and please don't take offense to me being wary of Android, I don't want to start any iOS/Android flame wars in the comments, I've used and appreciated Android for years as I said, but never on TVs, so just curious how it works. Posted: 02 Oct 2020 03:42 PM PDT Hi everyone ! I'm facing with a problem with some Android devices with wifi connection : sometimes it seems that my device doesn't have internet even if my wifi is full. I have to turn off and turn on wifi on device to get connection. First it was happened on a Pixel 4, so I thought the smartphone was the problem, but now it also happens on my Galaxy tab S7. Help changing ''usb controlled by'' option Posted: 02 Oct 2020 06:28 AM PDT So I recently bought this usb type 'c' to hdmi dongle to watch Netflix on my TV and when I plugged it in nothing happened and after a while I figured I had to change the ''USB controlled by'' option from ''connected device'' to ''this phone'' and so when i tried to change it i clicked on the ''this phone'' option it said ''couldn't switch'' and I went and investigating but after a few hours I couldn't find the article I needed. I tried going to the developers options and turning on ''tethering hardware acceleration '' but that didn't do anything. So here I am asking for help. If you know whats happening and how I can fix it please do. I have a samsung galaxy a41 on the latest version of Android 10.tia [link] [comments] |
How to view messages with no access to phone. Posted: 02 Oct 2020 11:22 AM PDT I have an old android phone that fell into water. I suspect Carrier Hub is killing my phone Posted: 02 Oct 2020 02:30 PM PDT Hey there, I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+ on T-mobile and just had the most recent Android update get pushed to my phone and started to notice notifications for Carrier Hub and it's been knocking my phone out of service every 3-4 seconds which essentially is making my phone a $1200 paper weight. I was wondering/hoping someone here might have some idea of what could be going on or a fix for this issue before I just take it into the store. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Oct 2020 02:15 PM PDT From the home screen, when you click on the Google search bar a row of 5 suggested apps show up. They change over time and will adjust based on your usage. About a week after I upgraded to 11 on my Pixel 4a, the same apps are constantly there. Apps I barely use. Anyway to reset that? I've turned off and back on app suggestions, but the same apps persist. For some reason it's driving me crazy [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Oct 2020 11:54 AM PDT Hello r/AndroidQuestions! I have had this issue for a while now. When I go to set a wallpaper, it automatically throws itself off center. I have a Google Pixel 2 (not the XL) with Verizon. I am on Android version 11, just checked to make double sure I am updated to the newest version as of today. Here are 2 examples of what is happening. I have tried different zooms, adjusting the position, and multiple different pictures. This issue only happens when the picture I am using is shorter than my screen, not wider. Here is an example of it working perfectly, with a wide picture. I hope I am describing that accurately. Basically if the rectangle is "portrait", then it will not center. If the rectangle is "landscape" it will center properly. Is there a setting that I overlooked that will allow my wallpapers to center? Is this a known bug? If there is any more information i missed that I can provide, I am happy to. Edit: If I go to Settings -> Display -> Styles & Wallpapers -> Wallpaper -> My Photos, then it will center the photo. (If I go to "Use As" from the Photos app, then it will always be off center) However, it will always zoom in, which is an issue in of itself. For example, I have a picture with text along the bottom. Because of the zoom, it cuts all of the text off even though in the preview it shows the text just fine. I have yet to find a way to set a wallpaper and have it looks exactly like the preview. If I swipe down from the top to bring up the "notification center", then the wallpaper zooms back out to where I set it in the preview. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Oct 2020 10:24 AM PDT Just had a 'class 0 message' pop up on my Galaxy S9 from "hsbc", claiming a new payee was added to my account. Clearly a scam, but I'm interested to know how they managed to send what appeared to be an OS message rather than a notification? Should I be worried about my phone security at all? I barely download any apps, and they're all well known Cheers [link] [comments] |
