My phone keeps rick rolling me - how do I stop this?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:15 PM PDT

No, I'm not joking. This morning I was woken up at 6am by my phone blaring "Who's that pokemon?... it's.... *rickroll music*. I thought I was in a fever dream or forgot to close a tab or something. Around 5:30pm my phone did the same thing in the middle of normal use, so I closed all the tabs and restarted the phone. When the phone turned on again, it did the same thing on the home screen. Is someone fucking with me or is this a glitch? I've already asked the only person who has access to my phone if they did it was they are adamant they did not.

    A51 or Pixel 4a?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:07 PM PDT

Hi, I'm new here, and I'm very indecisive on which of these 2 phones to get. (I'm on a budget. Don't judge lol) I've been in the Samsung android ecosystem for quite a while now, and I'm more used to One UI than Pure Android. Everyone has been saying the Pixel 4a is a better option over the A51, since it supports a flagship like camera with an amazing low light photography. Plus, the processor on the Pixel 4a, the Snapdragon 730G, is faster than the exynos 9611 chipset on the A51. I would love the size of the pixel 4a, and it would be something new for me. Plus with the amazing camera. However, I feel like I'm more used to One UI more than Vanilla android. Plus, I would miss the micro SD Expansion and SmartSwitch to switch my things over to my new phone. The camera is also very versatile.. Regardless of lack of the performance on it. I'm using an A10e now, so anything could be an upgrade to what I have... I feel like I would be more happier with the A51. Regardless of the size and it's sluggish performance at times. I don't know.. What do you guys think I should get, and what do you guys most likely prefer..? Thanks!!!

Do I Need The Official Samsung USB-C to HDMI Adapter?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:12 PM PDT

I want to connect my Samsung Galaxy A20 to a TV via HDMI out, and I've read that my phone supports this via an official adapter. Will any decently made USB-C to HDMI adapter work, or do I need the official adapter from Samsung?

Is it okay here to ask Android programming help? Just joined this sub.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:49 AM PDT

If not, please direct me to a suitable subreddit or other sources.

If yes then I am describing my question below.

I am not real quick in Android development. I just bought an app template. It is a feed type app. But the problem is if I upload a high-resolution image, the feed really suck while scrolling. It lags too much. So I found the type of code from Stack Overflow that makes photo resolution low without decreasing much quality before uploading. But the problem is I don't know how to implement that in my Android code.

Pardon for English. I am not a professional Android developer.

    Thanks

    Android 9 vs 10

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:45 PM PDT

I just got the ZTE Axon 10 with Android 9 on it, question is should I upgrade ? Does anyone regret upgrading to Android 10 over 9 ?

Also kinda of curious if Android 10 fixed the ZTE camera processor software so we don't have to bypass and the use the GCam software

How to show more than 3 notifications on lock screen

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:19 PM PDT

Is there a way to show more than 3 notifications (in full detail) on the lock screen? Usually the first 3 show in detail and the rest are placed as icons under the last of the notifications.

For reference the device being used is a samsung galaxy s10e.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Should I upgrade to Note 10.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 09:00 PM PDT

Hello, I am currently using the S10e by Samsung. And my phone is almost 1 year old and the battery is starting to get bad, and im looking for a new phone. Would a note 10 be a good upgrade. I am trying to avoid an 5g because I dont like the display. Is there any better phones by Samsung? Is this a reasonable upgrade. I could get it for $300 w/ trade in with my galaxy S10e. All help will be appreciated!!!

Completely new to Android/mobile OS'es in general. So many basic features seem to be missing. Can you really not lower the volume on a per-app basis? (Android 9 Pie/Fire OS 7.1)

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:05 PM PDT

I've never had a smartphone/tablet until recently, I picked up whatever the newest version of a Kindle Fire 10 is. All I want to do on it is watch a video on either Netflix or Youtube (either/both) without sound, while another app such as Spotify plays music. That's it. I figured this would be incredibly simple - after all every OS I've used since Windows 3.1 back in the early 90's has had this super basic functionality. How could a modern device that was just updated in the past year not have it?

But from everything I've been able to find, it isn't possible. Is that really true? I mean, there seems to be tons of other basic features missing (can I really not just browse my file system?) that were standard in every OS 30+ years ago, but this is the only feature I care about. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the rant! My mind is just blown.

Any way of forcing SBC codec to be default?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 08:26 PM PDT

I have S9+ and Airpods Pro. Every time I connect, my phone decides to pick AAC bluetooth codec, which is not that stable in terms of connectivity. I find SBC to be much better in that regard, even though audio quality is slightly worse.

I switch to SBC in Developer Options, but next time I connect my Airpods Pro, phone selects AAC again.

Is there a way on Android to force SBC as a default codec? Or disable AAC? I read somewhere, that adding _NOAAC to bluetooth device name can help, but it doesn't work in my case.

Code on texts send it to me

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 07:48 PM PDT

My mother keeps sending me texts that have a code of sorts at the bottom of each of her texts and they are all different codes. She does not see them on her phone, I can only see them on my phone. Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

File completely invisible on file manager (even through hidden storage)

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 11:00 AM PDT

I downloaded an obb file and was unable to send it to the obb folder so I deleted the folder, made a new one with the same name and added the files to the new folder. When I moved the new file to the android folder, the files I had put into them disappeared, but I know they're there because they still take space on my phone. Does anyone know how I can find and delete those files?

Galaxy s8 charging but won't turn on

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 01:00 PM PDT

A month ago I dropped my galaxy s8 into the sea after which it wouldn't turn on. After removing the back to see if I could see any water damage I spotted the battery had swollen. I have just replaced the battery with a new one and left it on to charge for several hours. Although it is showing the charging symbol it isn't showing a charge percentage and won't turn on by the power button or by holding the power + volume down.

Have any of you seen this symbol with a charging percentage before?

Is high ram usage just expected these days? ColorOs 7.1

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 06:40 PM PDT

I upgraded from the oppo a57 (3gb) to the a72 (4gb), I thought it having 1gb more ram would be a nice touch for multitasking as I only had about 1.5gb free on the a57, turns out the a72 uses a WHOLE gigabyte more of ram with nothing open leaving me with the same 1.5gb free lol, I presume this is just how it is? though using over 2gb ram with everything closed seems insane

    Mobile data connection problem

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:52 PM PDT

Hi there, I keep having this problem with mobile data since the connection seems really unstable.

My room is in a part of the house where the wifi is almost unreachable, so I often tend to use my mobile data since it's unlimited.

The signal is very low but I still manage to get 1mbps sometimes and I am happy with that. The thing is i don't know why particularly at night the signal seems to come and go. It suddenly drops to 0.1kbps and after like a minute it comes back to 1mbps. At first I thought it was the low signal but I realized that going into airplane mode on and off seems to get the speed back to a decent amount.

However this only lasts for a minute and goes back down to 0kbps. I can turn the airplane mode on and off and solve this issue but it's really annoying. I was wondering if it had something to do with the system settings as I feel pretty confident is not the connection, otherwise I don't think the airplane mode would do the trick

How much data does a Samsung back up if connected to google?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 05:02 PM PDT

    And what's backed up?

Mine got water damage, so the device works, but I can't use the screen.

Also my charging dock was messed up so I can only put it on a pad.

I'm planning on getting a new Android in a week.

KotoR for Android and changing language

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:43 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I hope I can find help here.

I bought KotoR on the play store for my phone. Sadly the dub language is only English, but I want it in German, like I played it back on my X-Box.

I also bought it years ago on PC, because of that I have the German speech files.

Now I thought, I could just open the apk file and exchange the English dub and videos on with my German ones (what also has higher quality), and repack it to a zip and rename it to "apk".

That doesn't work. I've read something about compiling n stuff and loaded bunch of programs, but tbh, if you have no clue what to do.. no way.

Is there someone who could do that for me?

Or someone who could tell me, how I can do it properly?

What happened to the Android Lockscreen Album artwork?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 04:27 PM PDT

Like when you would play a song in Google Play Music, the lockscreen would show the artwork. But it does not do that anymore on the Samsung Galaxy A51. Why? And is there a way to get it back?

WhatsApp and Telegram last seen status being updated without opening the app

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:59 PM PDT

After some hours without using any of these apps people tell me that my last seen status shows me as connected "x" minutes ago (different intervals in both apps) but I'm not using my phone and the apps are killed in the multitask section. Is this a common issue of messaging apps or just a problem of mine?

What are the risks of getting into a "support rooted device"?

    Posted: 03 Sep 2020 03:08 PM PDT

I want to get an app that needs your device to be a support rooted device, and someone said it's like jailbreaking your phone. I'm not too sure about what a support rooted device is or the risks of doing it are. I want to make sure I'm not gonna potentially ruin or destroy my phone. If anyone can explain what a support rooted device is and what are the risks it would be greatly appreciated! I honestly don't know a whole lot about phones.
