I don't want it to feed me cliche positive always optimistic quotes, I want melancholic, nihilistic and pessimistic wisdom as well as the good stuff.

Basically I don't want it for motivation I want it for reflection and thoughtfulness

[DEV] WeFocus - Focus, Pomodoro, Do one thing at a time

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:57 AM PDT

Hey all, I just made a Pomodoro app. It helps you stay focus, do one thing at a time and get thing done.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yocto.wefocus

    Here's the product description:

WeFocus is a pomodoro timer tool. It helps you stay focused by doing one thing at a time. With WeFocus, you can get things done easily. Does this scenario sound familiar to you? You need to prepare a quotation proposal for the client by the end of the day. You open Word to begin with. Before you begin, you notice that you've received six new messages. It pains you to leave emails unopened, so you read them immediately. Two hours later, you realize that you haven't type anything in Word. WeFocus helps you ignore distractions from social media, email, news.

    Here's the product features:

    - Distraction-free Minimalist Design - Hand Picked Sound to Immerse In - Carefully Chosen Vibrant Colors for Work - Carefully Chosen Calm Pastel Colors for Rest

The app is ads-free, and comes with one-time in-app purchase, for additional colors & sounds. Before you decide to purchase additional paid features, all of them comes with 7 days free-trial.

This is a newly launched app. I'm looking forward your comments in this thread, and I will then improve accordingly. Thank you for reading.

    Minimalistic favourite apps launcher

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:13 AM PDT

Hi all! I love Niagara launcher and smart launcher for their minimalistic approach with favourite apps on the home screen. But in niagara i don't like that you can't make more than one column of favourites. Do you know similar launchers?

Seeking weather app with next-hour precipitation graph homescreen widget

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:43 AM PDT

I know the death of Dark Sky has been discussed at length, but no one has mentioned this feature: A next-hour graph of precipitation on the homescreen. Does anyone know if there's a third-party app (that uses either Dark Sky data, or any other data) that has this feature?

    Yet another Weather app search

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:29 AM PDT

Yes, the 5 millionth one here, but I'm having trouble digging through the BS to find what I want.

What I'm looking for is pretty simple.

I want weather forecasts based on a set zipcode - I don't use GPS or like to allow location access.

The ability to set the refresh time (6 hour minimum) or even set it to manually checking.

Basic widget to show weather for the next few days.

NOT using my sensors without permission. The app I have been using seems to keep a hold on the gyroscope sensor constantly - there is no need for that.

    No subscription based apps.

I don't care about alerts, maps, radar, fancy crap - I just want to know what the weather might end up being tomorrow or the day after at a glance of my phone home screen.

Looking for a map app that allows me to put in a lot of addresses, order them to have a good route (Basically google maps but with no restrictions on the amount of addresses you can put in)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 07:42 PM PDT

I live in Ontario, Canada and I am helping a friend with navigating deliveries and I need an app that allows me to put in a lot of addresses, find an efficient route without the clunky limited interface of google maps.

What is the best phone app for multiple locations, since google maps only allows you to 9 at a time.

Anyway to make google maps take more then 9 at a time or is there a map app I need to know about?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Verizon Message+ Alternative with Group Message

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:37 AM PDT

In short, I am looking for an alternative to Verizon's Message+ that _must_ support their Group Message feature.

    AT&T - Pixel 2XL

I recently joined a small group at church. The facilitator uses a Verizon phone with Verizon's proprietary messaging app (Message+). They decided to manage the group via the built in Group Message feature which allows them to add & remove people and control other settings like internet messaging protocols. At first, it sent a 'sign up' message to me over SMS, then it bundled everyone's messages under a single number. And I could not respond over messages.

So I decided to download Verizon Message+. The app gobbled up the group message, removing it completely from the default messages. Additionally, I can only get alerts and send responses if Message+ is my default SMS app. Likewise, I can only use Android Messages for Web if Messages is my default SMS app.

By contrast, my wife, using Samsung's messaging app; can participate in the group with no issues.

So, what are my alternatives to get messaging back to normal on my phone? Am I stuck with needing a proprietary app to talk to this group and still get SMS?

Footnote, I'm planning an upgrade soon to either a ROG Phone 3 or Pixel 5G (4a5G or 5).

    Apps with the BEST widgets?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:38 AM PDT

Back when you could still find HTC phones in around 2012 I just loved those HTC widgets which were both useful and great looking.

I rarely use widgets anymore. I would like to. Seems like less discussion regarding them on forums. I realize a widget can slow down phone by hogging memory but sometimes its well worth it.

I remember there used to be a thread of home screens which showed some of the best widgets. Would appreciate any feedback regardings apps with great widgets. Thank You

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 08:55 AM PDT

I was trying out the offuicial & beta apps for hypemachine but they tend to crash a lot & the login doesn't work.

Ps: Yeah & the UI is pretty bad.

Simple reminder app that needs to be dismissed like an alarm

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 07:03 PM PDT

My mom switched over from iOS and the Google Calendar reminders are really useless in comparison, even imo being a long time Android user. The Google Calendar reminders send a one time notification with a quick tone that can easily be missed. The iPhone reminders app needs to be dismissed to stop the tone. So pretty much the alarm app with an option to choose the date as well as the time. All the reminder apps I find are overly complicated with productivity and other stuff built in. I'm really looking for something simple and easy to use.
