Birday - a totally free, open source and material birthday manager

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:17 AM PDT

I made Birday because I have 0 memory, I don't use FB that much and I missed some birthday specific features on Google Calendar. There are other apps to do almost the same things, but Birday offers more in terms of design, optimizations and quality, without useless trash.

FEATURES: - Open source, the code is available on GitHub

    • Free, ad-free, no in app purchases

    • A lot of customization options

    • A fresh and clean material design with animated elements

    • Just 4 MB of storage needed

    • Import birthdays from Google, export and import a Birday backup

    • Statistics, quick app shortcuts and a minimal widget

    • Quick search, notification at a given hour and option for an additional notification up to 7 days before the event

Give it a shot, I'd really appreciate a review or a feedback. I'd also appreciate a translation or a contribution to the code!

Github codeThe code is on github and at the moment it is dumb because the application is pretty minimal.

[DEV] I have developed a app which is trying to help cope with depression. I am looking for beta testers

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:40 AM PDT

    Hello,

I used to have terrible anxiety and depression so I have developed a app called Raah.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.raahteam.raahtheapp

Sometimes we cannot focus on simple things and are blocked the entire day or maybe even weeks because we have something in our mind which is bothering us and we don't have the correct person to talk to without the fear of being judged.

The purpose of this app is you can talk to someone and share out your frustrations, sorrows or just speak your mind.

You can also listen to someone who wants to be heard and feel glad that you just gave some time and attention to someone and made them feel better..

Despite having so much social media around do you feel you can truly express yourself or connect with someone.

All this happens while you remain anonymous. The app is purely text chat based no audio, video ,no image sharing, no meme's nothing. Just straight text to help conceal your identity.

    Note:

    1. I am aware this concept may have flaws, talking to a stranger is not ideal or advisable but for topics like breakup, job loss, feeling worthless it does help talk to someone and get motivated.

    2. Raah is not a replacement for suicide hotline / professional therapy/counselling.

    3. We just use the phone number for verifying if you are a real user and protecting users against trolls. If you guys have any ideas on how to protect this platform against trolls please reach out to us.

    4. We plan to delete the chat data every 24 hours unless an incident is reported for moderation purpose. We tried our best to keep our data secure.

    5. Raah at this stage does not support end to end encryption yet but we do want to add soon.

    6. We are still in beta right now consider things to be broken. If you find any bugs, have any suggestions or feedback do send us here

    7. We do want to be open source soon.

Added an easy tool to Fishpowered browser for hiding web spam like cookie warnings, "download our app" popups etc

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 04:17 AM PDT

    Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx5gjcHJd84

Since the last time I posted here I've been hard at work improving the browser based on the feedback I received. Here are some key things that have changed since then:

    • Swipe to change tab gesture now is full screen so doesn't conflict with android 10 edge gestures. (Fully configurable so you can still use the old gestures or nav bar swiping if you prefer)
    • Links can now be opened in installed apps (enable in settings)
    • Customise styles+javascript per site
    • Improvements to performance (more to come)
    • Better history view
    • Switch between search engines easily using search prefixes e.g. "d Searches on duckduckgo"
    • Desktop mode per site setting
    • Tweaked night mode to be more inline with Kiwi as requested (although this is getting a BIG overhaul in next version and will be waaaay better)
    • "Read later" pages can now be downloaded for offline viewing
    • Better font settings and bug fixes
    • Open development on Twitch

    Coming soon:

    • New native and customisable night/evening modes
    • Integration with password managers

Download: Fishpowered browser on Play store

[DEV] Memo App for Recording Demos with Automatic Organisation

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:52 AM PDT

Hi everyone, we have created an app for musicians to be able to record their demos and ideas, and automatically organise them into projects. You can also search by project name, recording name and tags - which you can add to your recordings in order to further structure your projects.

Any feedback, ideas/suggestions is very welcome, feel free to dm me on reddit. Alternatively follow us on twitter @ https://twitter.com/Demoed_App and dm us there if you wish.

It's currently only available for android and can be found here - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freshlydone.demoed

To Do apps that are offline and doesn't require sign in?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 05:49 AM PDT

I'm already using D Notes but I want to separate my notes and my to-dos. Though from all I've tried, they all require sign in. Microsoft To Do require microsoft account, Google Task need google account (though to be fair it's automatic since I already have a google account), Remember the Milk need an account as well...

I need something similar to D Notes to-dos, it has title, can put multiple checkboxes, but with extra features like a notification reminder or widget.

And most importantly, offline. I don't need sync or backup or sharing or anything like that, just a simple todo app with a reminder function that works without any kind of signing in.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 06:51 AM PDT

Does anyone know of an app that I can use to manage my 15ish exercises that I was given by my Physical Therapist? She gave me a bunch of printouts, but I'd prefer an app to manage them. Any suggestions?

Best Facebook client *not* web wrapper

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 10:39 AM PDT

    As titled.

Almost all the apps I find are just web wrappers. I'm looking for something that has more consistent performance and web wrappers are just not it.

An app that takes a picture instantaneously when I open it and closes right afterward with no preview.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 11:24 AM PDT

There used to be an app that could do this, Quick Camera - Hidden Camera, but it seems to have been taken off the Play Store. Is there anything still around that can do this. I want to combine it with Tap Tap so that I can quickly take a picture without fumbling to get the camera app open.

    Audio "dashcam" for phone?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2020 01:48 AM PDT

I'm trying to find a "dashcam" style recording app for Android that continuously records audio, while deleting anything too old. Does this exist?

All apps I can find are basically scheduled recording apps and none have auto delete. The closest is skip silence, but you still have to choose when to start and stop.

The goal is obviously that you can just record your surroundings at all times, and when something significant happens, you can immediately save it, and it's context.

If it doesn't exist? Should I make it?
