Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:13 PM PDT Hi, I wanted to share my research on the best laptops you can get for less that $500. I narrowed it to 3 laptops that were available in the US but also in Europe. - Asus Vivobook 15 (Ryzen 5 3500u) - Acer Aspire 5 [15.6"](Ryzen 5 4500u) - Lenovo Ideapad 3 [14"] If you want more in depth overview of this products you can check the video I made about them posted in the comments! Thanks. Edit: As the comment from u/hrshmpt pointed out, there is a great deal on the Lenovo Flex 5 on Office Depot for just 519$. It features the R5 4500u, 8gb RAM and 256gb SSD (and it is a 2-in-1) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:05 AM PDT Hey guys, I already tried filling the form on what Laptop am I looking for, but I got no answers. Nevertheless, I was still doing my research and found a local deal in one of my markets. I want to hear your opinion whether is it any good? Pc: Lenovo Ideapad 5 (14ARE05) By the way, I am looking for a lightweight, great quality, strong battery power(similar to macbook air), for the pc to have the ability to play CS GO etc. Also, I want it to last for at least a couple of years. Is this Envy enough to suit my needs? Any recommendations? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:53 AM PDT Hey all, I was looking at the Envy model and I'm really liking the smaller 13" laptops and stumbled across the Envy 13-aq0050od (Link with specs for reference) https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/9870792/HP-ENVY-13-aq0050od-Laptop-133/ I was wondering if the specs on this are enough to satisfy light to medium gaming and spreadsheet work. Additionally, if any of yoy recommend another Envy model of the same size I would greatly appreciate it! [link] [comments] |

Need a laptop to play Microsoft flight simulator 2020 at 1080p with Recording Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:31 AM PDT Hey guys I need a laptop to play the new flight simulator. You can find the official specs for the game here. Im aiming for the recommended spec. I have narrowed down my laptop to these two laptops. The Acer Nitro 7 9th Gen Core i7 or the Acer Nitro 7 Intel Core i5-9300H, both have the same specs except for the CPU one has the i7 and the other has the i5. I will be upgrading the laptop that I get to 16 GB of ram. I was on YouTube and I saw this comparison of the CPUs. In the comparison, the gaming tests were neck a neck between the i5 and the i7. Is it worth paying more for the i7? [link] [comments] |

CS Student / Light Gaming. Stuck between a couple options Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:58 AM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: $800, I have some wiggle room though. Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, if they're reputable How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I don't want a 2-in-1. Battery life and performance are important, and I'd like something that doesn't have any thermal issues. How important is weight and thinness to you? Not very important. Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 15" or lower. Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Light gaming, programming, watching videos. If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Esports titles and games like Rimworld and Cities Skylines. Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I want something with longevity. 16gb or 8gb with upgradeable ram is important. Ryzen 4000 series seems pretty appealing. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Right now I've been looking at the ASUS Zenbook 14" that seems to be exclusive to Best Buy. My main worry is that a good amount of reviews on the Best Buy website mention thermal issues. I've also been looking at the Ideapad 5 but I can't find the 100% srgb screen version anywhere, and I know I'll be unhappy with the base screen as I'm upgrading from an older Macbook Pro and have gotten used to a decent screen. I don't necessarily need 100% srgb, but IPS would be nice. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 04 Aug 2020 04:36 AM PDT Hey I'm looking for a laptop I can use to comfortably play some games on in the background while I work on vscode. I wouldn't be playing high end games often, but I would like to be able to play upcoming AAA titles as and when they come out (think cyberpunk) I've been looking at this https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/lenovo-legion-5p-15-6-gaming-laptop-intel-core-i5-rtx-2060-256-gb-ssd-10207939-pdt.html and it seems to fit my purposes but also seems too good to be true. Can anyone point me at downsides to this laptop and also suggest others in a similar price range (around £1000) [link] [comments] |
Can someone advice which is better (hp) ? Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:29 AM PDT Suggest a suitable laptop
Budget <75000 INR (India)
No
Gaming laptop, performance and build should be nice as i intend to use for 3-4 years,
No worries for weight
A FHD is minimal
Occassion video editing premier pro, after effects AAA Gaming also occasion
A descent 50 FPS at high settings is good for me
A good build quality, fingerprint sensor not a necessity, optical drive can be ignore, but hdmi type c ports required
They both are priced at ₹75k in India and have ryzen cpu and GTX 1650Ti. If anyone has these Laptop or have used it, please let me know your reviews and thoughts. Any other laptop with lower price and similar specs, please comment below. [link] [comments] |

[PH] Best Laptop for productivity / can do medium-load gaming? Posted: 03 Aug 2020 09:37 AM PDT Edit: Thank you guys for all the suggestions! I'll be looking into these. Current Suggestions i want (So I dont forget haha) -MSI Prestige 15 -HP Omen 15 2020 -Zephyrus G14 Others -Asus A15 -Razer blade stealth (Too expensive in the Philippines) -XPS 15 9500 * Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Php80,000 (Philippine Pesos), buying from the Philippines (Around ~$1,600) * Are you open to refurbs/used? Nope (Parent's Choice) * How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? I'd like an ultrabook with a solid build quality, performance, and average battery life. * How important is weight and thinness to you? very important, I commute daily and a lighter laptop would help. * Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Less than 17"? * Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I do light editing on Photoshop, that's all I do medium-ish gaming, I play Valorant, and would like to play games like Minecraft, Terraria, and CS I'd like a laptop that can handle many open tabs on chrome without it freezing/slowing down. * If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? Uh yeah, I'd like to play games like Valorant, Minecraft, Terraria, CS, and maybe even FFXV (probably not tho) at medium settings at 60+ fps. I don't game a lot, this is my first windows laptop. * Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I'd like to charge my laptop with a USB-C port, and soon, probably buy a dock so I could have my own workstation at home. I'd also want a good keyboard, good build quality, great screen quality, nice speakers probably. I'd also like an upgradable laptop so I'd be able to use it for a longer time. Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I'm an apple user, but I'm under budget and can't afford the 16" base MBP. I heard from tech YouTubers that the MBP 13" base model is pricey for its specs. Thank you r/SuggestALaptop ! [link] [comments] |

Asus Zenbook 14 UM433 or Lenovo C340 2-in-1 Posted: 04 Aug 2020 03:56 AM PDT Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase:
Portability and good screen brightness are priorities; I work mostly indoors but I like to carry it around and be able to see the screen when I'm outside. I think I will choose between one of these two (same price), but I am open to other suggestions. - Lenovo C340 2-in-1 14API I was almost convinced to get the Asus because of good battery life, good screen and light weight (from the reviews I've read). Also, from my experience, Asus laptops last a long time. But the Lenovo also caught my eye. It has more storage, possibility of expanding RAM (I think), and it is also portable and flexible. My main concern is that the screen is not so good, the touchscreen doesn't work that well and battery life is not great. What do you think? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:29 PM PDT I just want a laptop that has an amazing build quality, minimal fan noise (next to silent), and at least a 15" display. I was looking at the LG Gram 17" but the build quality is reportedly not that great. I was also looking at the Dell XPS 15 but have read that the thermals are iffy and fan noise can be a problem at times. [link] [comments] |

Medium gaming laptop, durable. <900 $ Posted: 04 Aug 2020 02:02 AM PDT LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Buying in canada, max budget 1200 CDN (about 900 USD)
No. Not unless getting an unbelievably good deal
Durability is really important since i need it to last me 4-5 years atleast, so i meed it to have good thermals and tough build quality ( or atleast as tough as it gets in this budget ) Performance is the other priority. Should be a fast laptop. More details on that later. Battery shouldn't be too bad , but i dont need it to be amazing.
Not very. I mean i will be carrying it around in uni but i know that all gaming laptops are heavy so I'll make do, as long as ita not TOO heavy even compared to its competitors
N/A
Other than casual use and basic work(coding, excel) Going to be doing gaming mostly. Need it to be able to run relatively newer titles like apex, witcher 3 etc
Nah just a decent keyboard and trackpad will do. Build qualitt however is kinda important as mentioned before
One thing i wanna talk about is refresh rate. At first i was very picky about how it needs atleast a 120 hz screen. But I've realized that no laptop in this budget exists that provides a high refresh rate without sacrificing color accuracy or brightness or some ither important thing like durability. So I've decided I'd rather have a 60hz screen with better colors and brightness. (Not going to do photo or video work i think but i still just want it to be decent to look at). Plus with 60hz that removes the need for super high end gpu since fps beyong 60 would be useless. I think the gtx 1650 or its ryzen equivelant or the 1660 at most will be sufficient. With that said heres some of the contenders in my mind. Please help me choose between them or tell me of any other option i may have(which hopefully ends up being available to me) -acer nitro 5 : in terms of performance this hast the msot value. Has a 144hz 3ms display anD a gpu powerful enough to utilize that. But the main drawback is its plasticky build, makimg it very easy to damage. And i believe it has poor thermals, not sure though. -lenovo legion 5 : with a ryzen 5 4600H and a 1650 this has just as much processing power as i need. Supposedly It has pretty decent thermals and build quality so it may last me a while too. The main drawback is the 120hz screen it has, kinda dim and bad color accuracy. I'd still say this is top contender at the moment though unless i can find a laptop with these kind of specs but a better screen, even if its just 60hz. -asus tuf a15 : this has amazing performance power and nice build quality BUT it notoriously has terrible screen and thermals. The bad color accuracy I'm fine with, even the terrible response time that renders the refresh rate useless. The main issue is the thermals, I'm afraid it'll affect longevity. Should i go with the legion? Is the 61% srgb 250 nits display bearable? Or is there a laptop that improves on those two things at the cost of being 60hz ( i know a legion variant like that exists but its significantly more expensive )
