| Files are disappearing from my OnePlus Nord after one week Posted: 28 Aug 2020 07:29 AM PDT Something strange is happening on my new OnePlus Nord. All the audio files I put in the Ringtones folder disappears after one week. This is audio files for ringtones, notification- and alarm sounds. Mp3 and M4A. Strangely one OGG file in the same folder doesn't seem affected... I do not have any third party antivirus or similar software. Tons of other apps though. I do not know if the files are deleted, or moved, but I haven't found them somewhere else so I assume they are deleted. Any idea what can cause this? Haven't had time to test if this happen with other file types in the same folder, or with the same file types in other folders. Although I haven't noticed any other files disappearing. I've looked the the My Files app as well and they dont seem to show there either. I've looked, and I'm thinking these images are stored on the Files app but I have no idea how to access that app as you cant open it. | Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:43 PM PDT Hello i have been experiencing some weird things on my phone ( honor 8x android 10) lately. Some apps seem to be using wifi while my phone is shut down. For example, i went to sleep at 11:30 yesterday and shutdown my phone, woke up at 3:30 turned it on and used it abit then shut down again and woke up a while ago, i went to check on wifi usage in the past 24 hrs on my phone (this isnt the first time i notice this) and it seems some apps where using wifi while my phone was shut down and i was asleep. Ex. Reddit was using 4mb at 4 am then 10 at 5 am. Google play store used 17 mb at 4 am i woke up at 6 to turn on my phone so im 100% sure i wasnt using the apps. And when checking previous times (between 11 and 3) these apps where not using wifi. I would like to add that i did use those 2 apps before shutting down the phone so maybe thats why? Then again how could an app use wifi when the phone is completely shut down Edit: i forgot to add that for a while now my phone has been losing battery usually fast after turning it on then draining normally after some time,maybe that's related. | My Love-hate relationship with Whatsapp. Posted: 28 Aug 2020 09:26 PM PDT Hey guys, Barely 1 year old Android user here, apple user for 6 with all the ecosystem bells and whistles. I decided to try Android because I wanted to try new stuff and it honestly has not disappointed. I think both are great platforms. But MY GOD HOW MUCH IT BOTHERS ME that Whatsapp cannot send only the latest notification from chats. for example, if I have an unread chat and ignore the notification, the next new floating notification will display both, and then they will keep on accumulating. I have tried many settings and I cannot seem to find a way to only send the latest one (like in iOS). This wouldn't be such an issue if my smartwatch could only display the last one reliably. (It shows the oldest notification.) Has anyone found a way to make it like the iOS notifications. (by this I mean to make only one chat pop up when received) Thank you so much for your help, please it drives me nuts. (I know this is much more likely whatsapps' fault but I dont know where to ask). I can't figure out how to upload my screen recording on mobile, so if someone can help I'll update with the post with the video I took, but it flashes and glitches out while scrolling up and down and only on the larger search results. | Android 10/umidigi apn settings issue Posted: 28 Aug 2020 04:47 PM PDT ****** I posted this in r/umidigi a while ago, haven't solved it and have been using my old phone since, I believe now it is an apn setting issue but I can't change, add, modify anything in any way. Have tried the usual factory reset and restarts etc. ****** "I recieved my umidigi s5 pro yesterday (been waiting months, anyways) and I'm using it on bell mobility in Canada. Does anyone else have any experience with this phone in Canada, especially with bell that could help? I can make and receive texts and phone calls, and it says 4g and VO LTE in the status bar, however mobile data simply doesn't work at all. I'm coming from a wore out huawei p20 pro which has no problems using mobile data using the same sim card (still works fine - just tried them side by side). I thought it had something to do with the APN settings but it appears both phones pick up the same APN settings from the sim card, which I can't change anyway. Any ideas?" [link] [comments]  |
| Posted: 28 Aug 2020 08:11 PM PDT As far as I know with Android 10 came the ability to record internal audio Now my phone is a Xiaomi A2 Lite with Android 10 but it's also android one and doesn't have the Xiaomi MIUI and therefore I don't have the Xiaomi screen recorder. I downloaded a couple of 3rd party screen recorders like AZ and ADV and set them to record internal audio but when I play back the recording I have no audio. I tried opening a game, nothing. I tried playing some songs on Spotify, no audio still. I tried opening another Music player, still nothing. I even recorded my phone receiving a notification and no audio at all. Posted: 28 Aug 2020 02:13 PM PDT I'm running a Galaxy S5 with Resurrection Remix, and for months I've been seeing a very strange behavior. Sometimes I'll wake up in the morning, go to use it, and notice it is extremely sluggish -- and this coincides with the RAM bar on the Recents screen showing somewhere between 250-500 MB free, rather than the more typical 650-850 MB free -- and in both cases that's with no apps open on the Recents screen. So of course I go to Developer Options and look at things like the Memory screen and the Running Services screen, but nothing jumps out at me. There's nothing to even account for the difference in free RAM. I've found that trying to run an existing shortcut navigation to put Google Maps through its paces is a very good benchmark -- when it is running fast, the transport mode animations will cycle through reasonably fast and then jump to navigating to the destination -- when it is running slow, the white Maps icon screen will just sit there for ten seconds, followed by a blue dot that doesn't animate, then jerky loading of the navigation, etc. I've also noticed if it is running quick, and I load some stuff like a podcast player that stays in RAM, and then try the navigation again, it will run sluggish, but if I close everything and try just the navigation again, it runs quick -- so this points to it being some sort of free RAM problem. What's weird is this problem will continue even after I reboot, even after I swap batteries, even after I wipe cache/dalvik, even after I clear cache for apps like Google Maps, even after I turn off Bluetooth and Wifi, even after I turn the phone off for ten minutes and power it back up. Nothing seems to fix it. And then I'll be using it another day, and it is mysteriously back to running fine again, and I can't figure out why -- what changed? I don't know. The one thing I've noticed is it does seem like I notice it's slowed down when I wake up in the morning and remove it from the wireless charger -- perhaps it is a heat issue that somehow lingers even after the phone cools off? So what I'm wondering is, what are the best apps/utilities, or methods, to diagnosing the cause of a weird problem like this? I can get this absolutely insane deal where I pay like 250 euro for the Xiaomi Mi10 5G.. but I was really gonna go for a flagship, 120hz QHD phone with great camera and OS this time.. My S9 just broke and I really wanted to buy Oneplus 8pro or Oppo, but now that I have been offered the Xiaomi 10 5G for literally 23 euro less a month over 24 months.. | Posted: 28 Aug 2020 01:27 PM PDT So a while ago my phone updated but instead of turning back on normally it would just go to this screen I've tried using some tools I've found online to try and fix it but every time the tool actually starts to do anything it tells me no device is connected even though it showed my device connected before starting scrolling through the options I can on that screen I get Start, Recovery mode, Restart Bootloader, barcode, and power off. After the reset, it asks for a login to Google, then Samsung, so I'm not sure which restore take precedence. Samsung fails to do a full restore. Missing tons of stuff and the layout is a total cluster. Google...oof, I made the mistake of setting up Backup/Restore during my attempts to get everything back and it seems to have overwritten my backup (Only gives me one option, from yesterday after I reset). I have two televisions: A Samsung SmartHub TV (2014 I think) A TCL400 Roku Smart TV Here's what I want to do, is this possible, and if so, what are some suggestions to go about doing it? I want to see everything that is on my phone screen on my TV, whichever one I choose. I would still like to use my phone as the main interface, but just have the TV display the phone and all the activity. Sound isn't really important, but if the TV can play the sounds, that's a bonus. I don't want to use wires if it can be helped, but if it cannot, I'm open to suggestions. Basically, I want to be able to sit on my chair in my living room, play on my phone, but be able to show what I'm doing on my TV in real-time with as little lag as possible. | Honor 8x completely unusable after Android update Posted: 28 Aug 2020 03:15 PM PDT Hello there, so yesterday I tried updating my Android phone (Honor 8x) from Oreo to Pie but that caused my phone to get stuck in "eRecovery" mode forever after installing it. The recovery mode doesn't work (every time I try to complete the download it says "Getting package info failed". I tried doing a fastboot and use HiSuite while connected to my PC to repair it but apparently my device isn't compatible... I don't have any other option left apart from factory resetting, but I have not backed up my phone, I'd lose 11k pictures and dozens of videos/notes/recordings etc... I tried calling a support center and sent them an email but no success so far, the site's support page tells me to go to a Huawei repair shop but the closest one is 200km away. There has to be a way to fix this, maybe running the previous Android version from my PC or something, the hardware is fine, only the software is completely stuck. PS: I was gonna give this phone away to my mum (that's why I tried updating in the first place) so I'd be happy to get all the data and factory reset afterward if necessary. [link] [comments]  |
