Turns out the S20 Ultra camera glass breaks super easily like everyone said. Posted: 05 May 2020 11:41 PM PDT First time dropping this thing after a month of use and there's a hairline fracture running from the bottom middle of the camera module and up towards the flash, narrowly avoiding the ToF lens. Was this a bad drop, you ask? Nope. I was sitting on the toilet with the phone below my knees. It dropped a total of slightly less than a foot. Okay, but you dropped it onto a tile floor, right? Wrong again, bucko. I dropped it onto linoleum so soft I can make an indent in the floor with my fingernail, and that linoleum was covered by a linen bathmat. Well did you have a case on it? Yes, I did. I had the exact same brand and style of case that has dutifully protected my S9+ from innumerable drops over the past two years, and on top of that I had a big fat credit card holder stuck to the back protruding out way past the camera hump. There should have been no physical way for the camera module to make contact with the ground in a drop. So, yeah, suffice to say I'm pretty unhappy with this phone at the moment, and I was unhappy with the camera before dropping it because the dumb thing doesn't know how to focus long enough to take a good picture. Save your $1400. Get the S20+ or skip the S20 lineup altogether. Samsung used to have such rock solid build quality. Wtf happened? Also, does anyone know where to go right now for official Samsung repairs? [link] [comments]

I have dropped my S20Ultra multiple times already and there are no cracks anywhere. Posted: 06 May 2020 09:46 AM PDT I have dropped my S20U phone from varying heights accidentally already since i've had this phone and no harm has come to it whatsoever. I have an OTBBA brand case and a screen protector on the camera glass with cut outs for the lenses. Just letting you know that a few people's misfortune with an ALL GLASS phone isn't exactly proof that the over-all build of the product isn't good. There are multiple videos online of this phone being dropped repeatedly and the camera glass is safe, with no harm. That's more proof to the contrary of all these claims. There is video proof that the camera glass isn't as weak as a few people say. There are always a FEW bad batches in the manufacturing process of technologies. There are playstations that fail and xboxes that get the ring of death but those few systems that fail don't mean they all will. It's just a bad batch, and bad luck and definitely a little user error when it comes to phones. Glass is glass whether or not it costs $1k+ and glass breaks. don't forget that. My case isn't even that thick and the phone has proven itself quite sturdy to myself and to others online. Thanks for reading, have a nice day!! [link] [comments]

Posted: 06 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT Hi, is it possible to use the 64mp camera on the S20+ with Pro mode? The autofocus is so bad on regular 64mp mode! [link] [comments]
Circle mark on a70 fingerprint sensor Posted: 06 May 2020 09:21 AM PDT I dont know if this is the right place to post this but I'll go for it anyway. I have a Samsung galaxy a70 and use the fingerprint for most of my login. I recently noticed a grey looking circle right where the fingerprint sensor would be when on a white background. Is this normal or has the sensor burned or anything? Not noticed any performance issues but just would like to know if this is normal or not. Thanks [link] [comments]
Unlocking a phone before it's been activated? Posted: 06 May 2020 09:15 AM PDT So I ended up with two S10+ phones from Best Buy due to a terrible shipping & customer service experience (long story). This was in December 2019. One was used and upgraded for my line. The other is just sitting here. Us there a way to unlock/jailbreak the phone before it's activated? My wife needs a new phone. Can I simply use it to upgrade her line or will it have to be unlocked/jailbroken? It's one that was tied to my line. I used the newer of the two shipments to upgrade mine. If I simply upgrade her line, would that trigger a second installment plan? We are on AT&T. Any and all help/advice appreciated. [link] [comments]
An issue with calls dropping on S20 Ultra - Proximity sensor issue? Posted: 06 May 2020 05:13 AM PDT So I have a very weird issue and I'll try to explain the best I can; For some reason, ever since the S10+ I've had issues with Samsung phones, I think its something to do with the proximity sensor that's now under the glass, I'll explain as I'm getting similar and more issues on my S20 Ultra. So last year when I had an S10+ and when I was on a call, which I mainly use my left ear (I think my right ear is a few db less so I use my left) I would quite frequently seem to activate the menu (top right) and therefore end up pressing things with my ear, unbeknown to me, sometimes I'd add a 2nd person to the call or simply put the other person on hold! This happened a lot and I was close to sending it off for repair even though I used apps to test to ensure the proximity sensor was working correctly but in the end, I sold it and got an OnePlus 7 Pro, which I didn't have an issue with. During my time with the S10+ I noticed that even though I held the earpiece to my ear I could see the screen light up and that's where I think I'd end up pressing the screen accidentally as I've just explained. Roll on to now where I'm facing similar issues but also I'm finding if I need both of my hands and therefore use my left shoulder to keep my phone against my ear the call disconnects as if I'm hanging up. Now it seems a straightforward resolution which is not to do that but I've never had this issue before and I've tested it out quite a bit when I do this the screen isn't on and my face is nowhere near the end button!! It's really driving me crazy at the moment and annoying my other half who's normally on the phone to me when this happens!! Anyone got any suggestions or thoughts, does it happen to anyone else or am I just being stupid?? I haven't gone down the route of resetting the phone yet but I'm going to consider it. C24FG73 monitor - low volume noise when reducing response time Posted: 06 May 2020 04:55 AM PDT Hi everyone. Never had a gaming monitor so I'm not very competent at it. I just bough one because my previous monitor died and found this at a good discount. I was messing around with settings, but I have a couple of questions. 1) is there a good reason not to always use 144 Hz refresh rate, be it desktop usage or an action game? 2) whenever I try to set the response time in the monitor menu at fast or fastest value, the monitor starts emitting a low-volume, high-pitch noise. Is it normal or has it something to do with a wrong setting in my video card? I'm using a GeForce 970 GTX with display port cable. Any enlightenment would be much appreciated. Thank you. Posted: 06 May 2020 08:41 AM PDT The S Pen to my Tab S6 started going funky yesterday. The screen no longer accepts tap inputs from its tip, and the hovering cursor doesn't appear when it is near the screen. However, the screen does respond to air gestures from it. For instance, if I wave the S Pen in front of the screen a few inches away, there is a response from the device as if I am swiping my all over the screen. The Tab Pen does this same behavior on my Note 10, and the S Pen from my Note behaves just fine with my Tab S6 Also, the button on the S Pen doesn't seem to do anything at the moment. What I have tried thus far:

Posted: 06 May 2020 04:50 AM PDT So I've had the s20 ultra for about a month now.. I noticed that the power button was a bit more "in" the phone compared to the volume buttons. It's very slight tho. By "in" I mean it isn't as protruding out of the phone as much as the volume ones. Thanks in advance! [link] [comments]
