It felt annoying to have to force shut it for it to hopefully work sometimes. I asked around online and they told me to update the bios for my motherboard, which I did. The problem was solved but a new problem occured where my PC would just never really shut down unless I unplug the power cable. So when I shut it down the screen goes blank but the fans and the motherboard would still work. I tried to reinstall and downgrade the bios but to no avail. What should I do to fix this? | Posted: 31 May 2020 10:45 AM PDT Hi, So I've reinstalled my Windows and now my fully-colored emojis in Word are gone. I remember that I had copied the Segoe Emoji UI Font from another system (Windows 7?) on the previous installation because it was able to display the emojis in color. It didn't have all the emojis but the full color aspect made it very attractive for my needs. Changing the font to any of the variations of Segoe UI also did not help. I've tried looking for other Emoji UI Fonts on the net, but I've only found reference to color fonts that do not work on Windows or that are also monochrome. I can boot up into windows fine; however, when I try to activate windows and download it I get the following error message: Windows cannot copy files required for installation. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. I dont even get to the screen where I can press del or f2 to enter the bios. It seems to me that the issue is that the nvme disk driver is no longer detected? When the factory reset completed I got the Other User login screen. From there I decided to watch a few videos on how to fix the black screen. | half of my computer screen is dim Posted: 31 May 2020 02:13 PM PDT i use a windows acer laptop and for some time now (i would say probably almost a year), half of my screen is dimmer than the rest of it. im fine using it this way but i will say it does make things harder. its also not like half normal and half dark, but instead theres a dimmer gradient on the lower half of the screen. i think its an external issue, but im not sure how to go about fixing it. if anyone has any clue what this is and how to prevent it in the future, please let me know! So, from time to time my keyboard seems to "hold" while i am typing, but i'm not actually holding down any keys. It's not a keyboard issue, as i was already able to test another one, which seems to be doing the exact same thing. Also i tried switching usb ports, still no luck in fixing it. I even tried to run sfc /scannow command and dism repairs, which both completed succesfully with no errors - but still getting the same issue. Another thing i was able to test was checking my dpc latency, and it is simply perfects with no dropouts at all. Do you happen to have the same issue on windows 10 may update (ver 2004)? My PC is running a GTX 1070 and i5-8400, and I'm on Windows 10 1909. I have them set up with the main monitor connected via DisplayPort, the secondary via DisplayPort to HDMI (PC to Monitor), and the third monitor via HDMI. Here are my specs, let me know if there is any reason I should just wait it out. For reference, I should be getting a new Ryzen 3600 and new motherboard soon but probably will stick with my GPU for now. | Posted: 31 May 2020 07:00 AM PDT I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad P50, and I just reset windows to factory settings yesterday. I logged in with my microsoft account, setup my fingerprint for login. Everything was going fine. I started dualbooting it today with Arch Linux, and when I was done windows now won't let me login at all. It goes to the login page, but where it was prompting me for my fingerprint before now it asks me my password. I've tried the pin I set as well as the password to my microsoft account, but it's saying all given passwords are incorrect.... Help me please ;_; Edit: ended up resetting the system, hopefully this time nothing goes wrong. Gonna steer clear of efistub and stick with grub..... [link] [comments]  | ||
