| I found my dead brother's phone Posted: 02 May 2020 04:45 AM PDT My brother (25M) was schizophrenic, and he killed himself last year, unexpectedly. He was very paranoid and hid most of his life from all of us, even me, despite living with me. This made closure really hard - we had no pictures of him as an adult, aside from his facebook profile picture, we didn't know who his friends were, and most importantly, we don't know if he left us any suicide letter. He certainly didn't leave a hard copy, and I checked his laptop - nothing. We couldn't find his phone, until today. He died in my parents garage, and the phone was under a cabinet there. We'd really like to be able to unlock his phone to see if there is anything that can give us closure. It's an android with a pattern lock. Can anybody provide any advice? [link] [comments]  |

| Posted: 02 May 2020 09:40 PM PDT I was cleaning out the storage in my S8 (64gb) and things just don't seem to add up. From the file explorer, it seems like I have roughly 14gb in apps, 12gb in media and a few gb elsewhere in the onboard storage. However, the phone cleaner reports that I have 4gb left only which doesn't make sense since I should have roughly 20+gb available. Anyway, disregarding that, I went into WhatsApp and deleted around 6gb worth of videos from chats. However, the phone cleaner app only reports that the remaining space increased by 2gb from 4 to 6gb so I'm not sure what's going on and if apps are holding on to storage or what. Would be great if anyone can give insight into why this is happening and what's the best way to trim the useless items from the storage. [link] [comments]  |

I have a new phone that i'd like to restore all my apps to. I've only ever restored backups on the same phone within TB and tbh have always found the UI quite confusing/intimidating. | Samsung Note 8 resets "Ignore do not disturb" settings to specific apps/contacts Posted: 02 May 2020 08:09 PM PDT Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 updated to android P (latest patch too) and I have a problem with the option "Ignore do not disturb" for the application Plus (telegram alternative), I keep getting the option disabled randomly and I don't really know why. I have a contract with this option enabled but sometimes I don't receive a sound notification and checking the setting "Ignore do not disturb" I see it disabled. Any way to solve this? | How can I bypass the Google Play decive scan? Posted: 02 May 2020 01:33 PM PDT I have a Fairphone 3 and want to install Fortnite. But I have 3,8 gb of Ram and not 4 so Google Play says my device isnt compatible. Maybe it wont run, but I´d like to try it. Is there any way to bypass the version scan (At best without root, but I can try with it. I just dont know/ found a good guide to root)? I once saw a video in which someone did this and ended up with the message "This app might not be compatible with your device" but could install it - sadly I cant find that video anymore... I've been avoiding updating my phone which of course means missing security updates and got downvoted to oblivion for having the audacity to claim a security update wasn't worth me updating for. Either way I got curious, who's actually ever got one? I've seen those ones that have adware popups, not exactly the worst but nuisances though even I have never gotten that myself. Posted: 02 May 2020 05:26 PM PDT Hello i have recently moved from iphone to andorid and can honestly say even from a tech nerd aspect that its been so far a bad idea, the first cloud provider i purchased was g cloud witch was a complete scam, clever scam but still a scam, i cannot use Samsung cloud as my note 10 plus doesn't support the carrier or something like that which is really stupid my ideal backup for just in case i lost my phone etc would be to have photos and videos backed up voice memos or anything from the document folder backed up notes, txt files backed up i would like all of this to be achieved by automatically backing my data up i would like to go for the cheapest provider and would only need something like 200gb i would like my data to obviously stay in the cloud forever until i cancel my plan if i could choose to just backup a few folders instead of the whole of the phone to save space that would be great! when pictures or videos are deleted i would like them gone from the cloud as well, to save storage thats another big plus also if it can backup app data, settings etc as well that would be good but not essential if i can backup one folder or a few files on the pc as well that would be a big plus but not essential thank you very much! :) [link] [comments]  |

| Why my Samsung thinks it's in another country? Posted: 02 May 2020 04:30 PM PDT So I noticed this yesterday, when I wanted to add location on my Instagram post and it showed weird places, mostly Bucuresti, Romania. I thought it was just a temporary error so I didn't give it too much attention. Today I looked at my weather app and it showed weather for Bucuresti, I checked gps if it's turned on (tried to turn it off and on again). I checked google map to see my location and my phone thinks it is in Bucuresti. For no reason. **I restarted the phone and it's showing location as it should.** But I don't live in Romania and I have never been there! (I know sometimes phones get some old location) But why did this happen, should I be aware of some misuse or is this a common thing? (Samsung galaxy A6, Android 10) [link] [comments]  |

I was looking for an application that will email me a notification every 3 minutes, as the unit has wifi. A big reason is the price justification... I feel like so much effort and energy at Apple goes toward the cameras that they ignore what they could invest into screens/performance/refresh rates/etc. Now I'm NOT looking for an anti Apple rant, I'm looking for pro-android suggestions. Amazing screens/design/gaming potential/performance /strong battery lives- those get me going. I have a budget up to $900, but would prefer to be closer to $600. What phones would you suggest? | Posted: 02 May 2020 02:52 PM PDT Currently on my old Galaxy SJ7 typing this. So I have a Galaxy S9, I would be typing this on it! But the issue it is having is why I am here. So since I've updated it, it says "couldn't authenticate connection" and takes about half an hour to 9 hours to connect to any wifi network, whether it be home wifi or work, or even wal mart wifi. I don't know if it's because of the phone or the update. Btw, I've had the phone since November and this problem started around 4 weeks ago? And has progressively gotten worse. [link] [comments]  |
