MIUI 12 Control Center is the best feature ever

    Posted: 27 Apr 2020 10:46 PM PDT

I flashed the china beta yesterday, and here is something I noticed.

The control center is just awesome. I know they copied this from IOS, but it looks so much better than the old, ugly notification panel. That looked like it was from the stone age, this looks way more like miui should

redmi note 8 pro cheating on benchmarks (antutu, pcmark, geekbench)

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 09:55 PM PDT

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixaDWbxCezs&feature=youtu.be

the summary, without cheat, this is the result:

    • ANTUTU ⬇️24.5 %
    • PCMARK ⬇️21.7 %
    • GEEKBENCH5 CPU ST ⬆️0.6 %
    • GEEKBENCH5 CPU MT ⬇️0.2 %
    • GEEKBENCH5 GPU OPENCL ⬆️25.2 %
    • GEEKBENCH5 GPU VULKAN ⬆️1.2 %

yes, the geekbench gpu benchmark shows that the gpu is faster with cheat off, and there was no cheating on cpu. the cheating also didnt work when using vulkan.

    ---

btw if anyone know how to get fps overlay and benchmark on any video games, i would happy to test on pubg, codm, etc.

No new Xiaomi/Redmi Tablet at all?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:04 AM PDT

Rumors last week said that a new Redmi Tab 5G would be announced on April 27. I haven't seen any news regarding this. I even couldn't find reports that these rumors were wrong. Does someone know anything/has seen any news about that?

E: The only thing I found about the rumors was this article about the promotion photo probably being fake

Upgrade Mi A3 to Redmi Note 9S?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 05:35 PM PDT

    Hi All,

I have the Mi A3 (since launch in July 2019) and am looking to upgrade.

Is it worth it? I can sell the Mi A3 for $200 AUD and buy the 9S for $315 AUD.

Cameras seem similar on both, more so after performance and battery life

    Feedback appreciated

Mi A2 Lite users stuck on V11.0.2.0

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 01:43 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

Hope you're all keeping well and staying safe.

Back in March, I was one of the lucky ones that successfully updated my device to Android 10 (V11.0.2.0).

Whilst I didn't have any major issues with my device after updating, one thing that I noticed was that I couldn't update my phone to the latest build (V11.0.4.0).

I kept getting an error message on the update screen, stating that the available update was only for devices running Android P, not Q.

After waiting for quite some time, I grew impatient and decided to manually install the latest Android 10 build from Xiaomi.

The method I used doesn't require an unlocked bootloader.

Here are the steps I took:

    1. Made my Mi A2 Lite ready for the update by enabling USB debugging.

    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/install-adb-windows-linux-macos/#Make-Your-Android-Device-Ready

    2. Install ADB on my Windows PC.

    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/install-adb-windows-linux-macos/#Install-ADB-on-Windows

    3. Download the official V11.0.4.0 OTA Package.

    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/xiaomi-mi-a2-lite-android-10-update/#OTA-Packages

    4. Install OTA Update using ADB Sideload (Apply update from ADB).

    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/sideload-ota-update-stock-recovery-adb/

After following the steps above, my phone was successfully updated to V11.0.4.0.

No data was lost but I chose to factory reset my device, anyway.

My device is now on the March security patch and the update screen is back to normal!

    I hope this helps!

Does anyone know if Xiaomi will be upgrading their Mi Box S any time soon?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:45 PM PDT

Does anyone know if Xiaomi will be upgrading their Mi Box S with any of the following hardware upgrades any time soon? I have this box, and I think it's great for streaming videos and use it daily, but with a little upgrade it could also be great for gaming (I'm not a hardcore gamer, just basic car racing is good for me, but simple games stutter on this box as it is, and the Bluetooth controller keeps disconnecting/re-connecting). So if the Mi Box S can be upgraded with the following it would be great: 4-8GB RAM, microSD for expansion, Bluetooth 5, Ethernet port instead of just WiFi. Thanks guys!

    Mi Mix 2s, LCD replace?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:04 PM PDT

I decided to try to fix my cracked screen myself. I'm having trouble finding the correct tutorial for the 2s, Plenty of videos for the 2 but the 2s it slightly diferant.

Also the LCD I bought seems not fit exactly right, some gaps all around, the front camera lines up but the fit all the way around is not great.

    Anyone done this before?

Question about removing stock ROM (with encrypted data), flashing custom ROM and going back to stock with TWRP backup

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 06:12 PM PDT

Hello, I'm asking this question because I'm very confused about it. I'm using Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro that's already unlocked. I have TWRP installed and I'm running on a stock MIUI 11 ROM with Magisk installed. Now, when I reboot to TWRP (to make a backup or something), I have to enter my password, TWRP decrypts the filesystem and then I can do what I wanted. So,

    • if I want to flash a custom ROM, what I have to do? Wipe everything, including data partition and flash the ROM?

    • and if I want to go back to stock, can I just use my backup? Even though the filesystem isn't encrypted now and it was when I was making the backup?

Redmi K30 Pro - global version?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 05:45 PM PDT

I'm looking for a phone with snapdragon 855 or better, as well as a 3.5mm jack. The K30 Pro has both, as well as 5G and at a very reasonable price.

However, I'm in Australia, and the one I've found for sale is seems to be an imported model. I was therefore wondering if this version comes with the Google Apps suite, or if it will come with the Chinese version of the OS?

As an aside, I feel 5G is a helpful feature when buying at this present time for future proofing. Any thoughts on 5G?

    Xiaomi Battery

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 03:17 PM PDT

My xiaomi is kinda dead?(maybe) If anyone can help plz do so. I will write my experience : -2 months ago i would have Notification Light only, now i dont have a light at all -If remove the battery's cable from my phone, it will boot up but the battery stays at 0%, and if i unplug my charger it will close the same moment -It wont charge/boot up while the battery cable is connected to my phone. -If i boot up my phone with the battery cable unpluged, and the plug it, it will turn off again -If i try to charge it,while the battery's cable is connected, i will get the Logo, and then it will turn off again, and show the Logo again after 10 seconds, and the proccess is repeated till i unplug my charger

    It is just weird...

Please do not that last month I connected the dingus to the computer and removed some root bltware and apps such as the Mi Browser.

Was that the reason? How can I get the device to work and funcation just like before?

[Mi A3] On that buggy Android 10 update right now. Can I still get the latest Android 10 update even after I downloaded the fixed Android 9 (Pie) update?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 02:25 PM PDT

I downloaded and installed that bug filled Android 10 update before Xiaomi pulled that back. And since then I didn't get any update from except for the fixed re-update for current Android 9 users.

I'm stuck at the update that says this update is for devices running Android 9. For Android 10 users stay tuned.

So my question is will I be able to download and install the latest Android 10 update (32mb) Xiaomi rolled out recently?

Hey, I've been using a Redmi Note 7 since last summer, and I've noticed slight screen burn. Is that a common problem?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 10:32 AM PDT

I've first noticed the screen burn about two weeks ago. It occurs when a bit of the screen stays unchanged for a longer period of time (5-10 minutes of writing is enough for bits of my keyboard to burn themselves on the screen), and when I switch to other apps, the burn stays visible for about 1-2 minutes. Is that a common problem?

Has anyone fixed the Mi A2 echo problem?

    Posted: 28 Apr 2020 02:03 PM PDT

My fiancee and I have been trying to stay connected with her parents via Duo. As others seem to have noticed, calls received by the Mi A2 echo loudly for the caller, but calls initiated by the Mi A2 have no issues.

I have seen the workaround of disabling "Okay, Google" detection. I would try this, but the parents use "Okay, Google" quite frequently... possibly more frequently than they receive calls.

Has a true fix been released yet? Pretty embarrassing for the devs to have a critical bug exposed for months like this. The best part is that it's a problem with calls, or one of the most basic functions a phone provides. :P

    Anyway... Thanks in advance!

tl;dr: How do I fix the echo without disabling "ok google" detection?
