MacOS - MacBook Pro A1502, how do I reinstall OS? MacOS newbie - ELI5 Posted: 29 Apr 2020 04:32 PM PDT I was traded a MacBook Pro A1502, I lost the password I was given on a sticky note and I just want to factory reset it I have around 10+ years experience with administrating Windows OS computers, and Apple/MacOS is big-time outside my comfort zone and knowledge I tried reinstalling the original OS by using the Ctrl + R and I got the OS recovery partition starting to reload the OS but it failed on me and I believe I ended up formatting the drive. I tried connecting to my wireless network and letting it reinstall the OS as well but no luck Which is the correct OS version for an A1502 Pro? Will I need a pre-existing admin password to install the OS? I read through https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904 and I'm still lost Thanks for your help [link] [comments]

Device not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match Posted: 29 Apr 2020 02:50 PM PDT So I'm trying to update my BIOS and to do so I need to plug in a flash drive and store the BIOS. I tried using a old 1tb hard drive it didn't work so I bought a flash drive and it didn't work. basically it shows the device in my disk drive as a "usb mass storage device" but there's no file there to pull up to store anything in. Yes I have tried different devices in the usb ports to make sure they work, tried different ports, updating drivers, chipsets, uninstalling, reinstalling... I can't find a solution. The message under "events" in "properties" is as follows: Device USB\VID_14CD&PID_125D\125D20140310 was not migrated due to partial or ambiguous match. Last Device Instance Id: USB\VID_04E8&PID_685B\aecfd4f2 Class Guid: {36fc9e60-c465-11cf-8056-444553540000} Location Path: PCIROOT(0)#PCI(0103)#PCI(0000)#USBROOT(0)#USB(11) Migration Rank: 0xF000FFFF00000020 Present: false Status: 0xC0000719 [link] [comments]

USB not working after adding a custom icon Posted: 28 Apr 2020 07:50 PM PDT Hello! I'm new to this community, so I hope it's alright to post this. I was just hoping someone could help me quickly as I have a class in twenty minutes. My USB hasn't worked ever since I added a custom icon using autorun.inf. I've tried using it on multiple computers, but they never register. Not even as a device in Device Manager. Both on Mac and PC. And I know it has to do with the custom icon, because countless USBs have stopped working after I do it. All the previous ones have been done on Mac- going into Get Info, clicking on the icon and pasting the image I wanted for the custom icon. This last time, I used a Windows PC and did it through the autorun.inf file, so I thought it might have been different and not stuff up my USB. Is there any way to save the USB without resetting it? Or is there any way to retrieve the information? It has ALL my college work on it and it CANNOT be lost. Thank you so much in advance, Georgia [link] [comments]
Posted: 28 Apr 2020 04:35 PM PDT I know it's length, but's it's been a lengthy process and any help is welcome. So I had a Toshiba DT01ACA200 2TB it started making not great noises. I bought a 2TB Seagate Barracuda I used EaseUS to clone all my data to the new drive. I soon started to realize something was off as it was using up 100% of my disk space. I have turned off Windows Search that helped, but then it maxed out randomly and when I started to play a game I would get horrible lag spikes whenever lots of action was happening( I have never had issues in this game before). I ran Seagate's Long Generic test it passed, SFC scan passed, DISM scan passed, Full Windows defender scan, High-Performance Energy on, passed check disk, and maybe some other stuff. I'm dead confused. User Benchmark shows it the HDD that's underperforming. The only thing that I can think of is that my 2x8 G.skill ram is allocating to the hard drive causing it. I've also noted unusually high CPU temps when gaming ~90c which is significantly hotter than I would normally expect. I am willing to do a full wipe of my computer, but for some reason, it doesn't accept my disk as well. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
