Weekly Questions Thread - March 02, 2020 Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:57 AM PST This thread is for simple questions that don't warrant their own thread (although we suggest checking the sidebar, the wiki, our Discord, or Stack Overflow before posting). Examples of questions:
Important: Downvotes are strongly discouraged in this thread. Sorting by new is strongly encouraged. Large code snippets don't read well on reddit and take up a lot of space, so please don't paste them in your comments. Consider linking Gists instead. Terminated Account for app that's not even public yet - next steps? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:06 AM PST Hi everybody. I got home today from work, excited to work on my side project app. I start cooking our dinner and my girlfriend tells me she can't find the app on the Play store anymore (in closed release). I check my developer account and there's an email from Google. The thing happened that I think many of you dread too: my Google Play Developer/Publisher Account got terminated. The reason for the ban is deceptive behavior. While not giving any more reasoning behind it, the last thing I updated recently was the app category the day before, so that is probably why. What makes this worse to me is that: • I didn't get a warning, saying 'hey, we think this category might not fit your app'. No, Google just straight up terminated my account (which I paid for!) As a bit of background info: it's a silly game app, where the goal is commanding a little rocket to a kind of space portal without colliding with surrounding objects. Very simple in theory. Innocent. What should my next steps be? I've read online a bit on appeals but most people say they get an automated answer that tells them to never try that again. [link] [comments]

Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:09 AM PST Anyone has any idea what is going on? This seems to be widespread issue. I immediately logged in and everything is as usual. No warnings or emails or any kind of notifications. Does anyone has some info on what the fuck is going on? [link] [comments]
Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:03 AM PST Application has been removed without any communication! Published 2 years ago, no recent changes, has been deleted from the playstore. I have not received any emails, notification on play console. What happened? [link] [comments]
Our app NFC Tools has been removed without any explanation. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:28 AM PST Hi everyone, Today, our app NFC Tools is not visible on Google Play anymore.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wakdev.wdnfc We have immediately check our emails and the developer console to find the problem. But nothing, EVERYTHING is good so far and the status of the app is "published".We didn't update anything, so I don't understand how it's possible... Do you have any suggestion? Has this happened before?I've already contacted Google but as you can imagine, they are not reactive... Thanks for your help.Julien. Ps: If someone at the Google Play Team read those lines, can you please check what is going on ? EDIT: I've successfully got Google by chat and here the answer : Well, so I think the only thing to do is waiting... [link] [comments]
Integrating others app within my app Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:15 PM PST Hello all, I'm currently working on an app idea that revolves around the concept of providing various functions and features to freelancers and small business owners (Expense tracking, Transaction History, Revenue Performance, and Financial Analysis, etc.) and one function I'd like to include is gas mileage tracking, which would compel me to include an additional feature "Lowest gas price nearby". So my question is, Can I integrate other services (Gasbuddy, Gasguru, Google Maps) into this app to provide up-to-date fuel price data? Note This app will be subscription-based. Appreciate any insight :) [link] [comments]
A good android phone for development Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:53 AM PST Hello /r/androiddev community! Currently I am searching for a phone for development, which allows me to install custom ROM's (such as lineage os) or stock android dev ROM. Sadly most phones I found are out of stock/production, so I am in a bit of a loss [link] [comments]

Hello, new to Android Dev, have some questions. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:01 PM PST This has no doubt been asked many times before, but I beg your indulgence one more time. I've a decade of Java dev under my belt, and have played around with Kotlin before 1.0. I'm completely new to Android Dev (and mobile dev in general), and want to self learn. There's plain old Java, there's Kotlin, and then there's Dart (Flutter). Which one would make most sense for the foreseeable future in yes of ROI, support, usefulness in case I consider becoming a professional mobile dev, flexibility, and library/framework support? Also, what advice and guidelines would you suggest based on your own experiences and/or expertise? Thank you in advance! [link] [comments]

Faster and more efficient alternative to opencv merge mertens? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:26 PM PST I am developing an android app that passes multiple images and combines them using exposure fusion to create a single photo. This process is taking long time and memory when done on large resolution images. I am currently using merge mertens function of opencv. During debugging I found out that this function takes the most time and memory usage also goes up. Is there a faster alternative out there? [link] [comments]
Android Studio 3.6 xml design/split/code Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:47 AM PST I updated android studio last week to 3.6, and although I love everything so far, this one thing is really extremely annoying, every time I open a new xml file (UI, drawables, etc) it's by default opened with "design" view, and every single time I have to go all the way to the top to chose "split" or "code", instead of it being on the bottom at least. who the hell edits their ui screens or drawables in design view! anyone knows a quick trick to default to split or code for all file? When you add a new translation to your app... Posted: 02 Mar 2020 09:34 AM PST ...there is always at least one user that wants it back to English (the default language), while his device's system primary language is set to the language for which you just added the translation... And we're talking about a professional and full translation here, not some horrible Google Translate job... [link] [comments]

Find location history without Google maps timeline Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:54 AM PST Hi everyone, My girlfriends phone was stolen 2 days ago, and yesterday was found in front of her door. It is intact and fine but we want to check its location history because we have a theory who could have taken it and want to cobfirm it. Location history is turned off, so I wondered if there is an API or other way to access it via adb? Thank you a lot in advance, hope someone can help. [link] [comments]
Admob "Site Behavior: Navigation" policy violation Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:33 AM PST Hi, I used AdMob ads for a while now, and never faced an issue. A week ago however I received a notification that my app violates the AdMob policy with the reason "Site Behavior: Navigation". From the description however I cannot tell what is wrong with my app. I already asked for a review twice but it was rejected again. Also, I can't seem to reach any support team from admob to raise the issue... Can someone maybe check my app and tell me what is wrong? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=clipz.streamclipz It's a simple twitch.tv clip download app, I am showing a banner at the bottom of the home screen and an interstitial ad after 3 clip downloads from a user. Thank you very much in advance! [link] [comments]
