Posted: 02 Mar 2020 07:28 PM PST I want Windows 10 to autostart the session of a user, I don't want to skip the login screen, just that all the autostart programs and services of that user start to run without logging in. Is that possible? Thanks [link] [comments]
Windows Search / Indexing: Any way to not show other users files in Windows search? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:02 AM PST I have a Windows 10 PC (well not really "personal" computer) with 2 windows users (2 people, 1 admin, 1 standard user). However when I use Windows Search I end up getting a lot of files from the other user located in (C:\users\<user\_B>) Is there any way to make windows search, filter all the files from the other user accounts? I want each Windows user to see their own files (so <user\_A> to index C:\users\<user\_A> files and <user\_B> to index C:\users\<user\_B>) and both users to index all the common files/folders, like the ones in D: drive. Note: both users know each other password. So this is not a real "privacy" concern, is more an organizational one. Any ideas? If possible I don't want to restrict accessing other users files manually in File Explorer. I just don't want them to pop-in in the Index all the time, it's really messy. However, if this is the only option it's still fine. Windows Version: Windows 10 Version 1909 (OS Build 18363.693) EDIT: I think I fixed this by removing other users permission in each <USER> folder. more info: Comment [link] [comments]
Ctrl + X, Ctrl + S, Ctrl + W not working. Ctrl, X, S, W are all working separately. Pls help Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:39 PM PST It happened sometime around last year, I just don't remember when exactly. I just let my laptop update automatically so I'm not really sure which update it started. I just became aware of it when I used my office apps sometime later, bec I can't cut and save using the default hotkeys. I can't use these shortcuts everywhere, not even in windows explorer. As for the ctrl+w, it had been used in a game. I checked it and it was mapped as is. When I tried remapping the shortcut, it just won't register. I was previously using win 8.1 when this started. I've upgraded to win 10 just yesterday, and the issue still exists. I've already uninstalled the keyboard driver multiple times. I've checked using keyboard testers. All the keys are working properly (except when using the mentioned shortcuts :<). I tried using the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center so I can reassign my shortcuts, but it says "no supported device detected". The shortcuts work when I'm using the on screen keyboard. I'm using Dell Inspiron 5458, currently on windows 10. T_T [link] [comments]
Teredo tunelling adapter missing Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:28 PM PST In my windows settings I noticed that my both my NAT type and Server connectivity are say "Teredo is unable to qualify" and "Blocked" respectively. I've been trying to fix the issue and even when I set my device manager to show hidden devices the teredo adapter is missing. Is there any way to install it or another fix to this problem? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:24 PM PST I have recently tried to disable a driver on my laptop. It was my internal laptop keyboard driver because I spilt coffee on it and it sticks. The reason I wanted to do this was to use an external keyboard I have to avoid the sticky keyboard. Well this has caused me hell because now I have a BSoD and can't boot into Windows at all. The stop code I am getting is DRIVER_UNLOADED_WITHOUT_CANCELING_PENDING_OPERATIONS. I'm very desparate at this point I will try just about anything. This is really frustrating because I can't even reset my pc or restore it for some reason and I'm on the verge of just getting a usb and downloading Windows onto that to restart it. This is kinda my last ditch effort please help [link] [comments]
Windows Activation gives option for PC, but after loading says "Unable to Activate Windows" Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:47 PM PST So I recently changed hardware on my PC, a lot of hardware. I went back into the activation, his troubleshoot, then clicked on the "Changed Hardware" option in that menu. After doing this it brought up a menu of 2 different PCs that have windows on them that I needed to click on to select and choose that that PC was the PC I was currently using. I clicked on the proper PC, and set it to the PC I was currently using. It took a few seconds to load and then brought up the unable to activate windows message, leaving me the only option to close the window. I've tried restarting numerous times, switching internet, etc. Any help? Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]
Factory Reset Doesn’t Do Anything Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:38 AM PST so i'm trying to factory reset my boyfriend's old computer since i'm sort of inheriting it, but it has so many programs and things that i just decided to try and set the computer back to factory settings. at around 11 am, i started the reset, and the "resetting this pc" pop-up ran for about two hours, then the computer restarted. once it turned back on, though, it didn't remove anything and made basically no changes to the computer. did i do something wrong or is this some sort of issue? Messed up Registry, looking to reset PC Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:31 PM PST Hi everyone. I'm going to be blunt with you and tell you that I thought I was smart in trying to move some game files around via regedit (I have learned my lesson and am dealing with the small but annoying consequences of amateur registry use). I was just wondering if going through the Windows "Reset this PC" process would reset the registry to its original configuration or if I will need to do something more complicated. Additionally, is there something I can do that would fix it without a "Reset this PC" run? Any and ALL help is appreciated. My PC isn't going to explode because of it, just can't delete a few files due to their locations' essentially being limbo according to Window's storage manager. Thanks! [link] [comments]
No internet or bluetooth connection Windows 10 Asus laptop Posted: 02 Mar 2020 05:13 PM PST Basically my internet stopped working today, the network logo just shows a computer with a red x and "no connections are available"I'm not sure what to do next, I'm very noobish, please help.. here's a rundown of the details: -downloaded softether vpn client+server which messed with my network adapter driver settings about a month ago but my internet was working fine until now; it changed the name of the intel wireless ac 9560 adapter to "vpn client" -I uninstalled the "vpn client" driver from device manager but did not select remove driver software -tried to reinstall the intel ac driver from a download off the Intel website: didn't fix it -tried to run some commands that reset network settings and that didn't work, tried to reset network adapter settings from the settings window but that didn't work either -hard shutdown doesn't fix it -I can see the intel wireless ac 9560 network adapter in device manager if I show hidden devices; it says code 45, device not connected, to fix it, reconnect this hardware device" -turns out the intel ac 9560, bluetooth device(PAN), microsoft wifi direct virtual adapters #3 and #4 , and the bluetooth drivers are all hidden and showing code 45 -only intel(r) wireless bluetooth shows code 10(cannot start) -cannot do a reset through Windows Settings; it just says it couldnt be reset and that no changes were made. -no system restore points so I couldnt do that either -cant turn on airplane mode(greyed out) What can I do before I bring it to a repair shop? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:27 AM PST I am a teacher and my school was donated some older Windows 8.1 tablets from a school that shut down. Unfortunately, they are all logged in as "students" and I am unable to log into the "admin" account. I reached out to the IT staff at the defunct school and have been unable to obtain the admin password. As of right now, their functionality is severely limited and they are in desperate need of updating and refreshing, but I am unable to do so. Any recommendations as to what I can to do to gain admin access to the tablets? [link] [comments]
Windows doesn't open anything. Posted: 02 Mar 2020 12:28 PM PST When I click on Firefox it loads for a bit, then says it's already running but needs to be force closed. I can't open my search bar at all. When I click it. Nothing happens. If I try to open steam, it just doesn't open, same with other apps, some apps do open, but just get stuck on one screen. The only apps I've found to work, that actually open are, email, file explorer, store, settings (settings crash when I try to click on update.), CMD and some other windows programs. Windows 10 HP 255 G5 (2yo) extremely slow Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:10 PM PST Hello, 2 years ago I bought a notebook in Germany it worked well but the last year has been dreadful, especially the last months. I haven't really found help online so far. At this point the notebook barely starts. I don't use it for gaming, only for surfing the web, office (word, excel, etc), adobe (photoshop, premiere, but not hard just some simple tasks) and not much more. I have seen that I have a lot of things running in the background somehow and I don't know how to stop them or if anything of that is necessary. I uninstalled Avast and Chrome and the notebook started working well for some days but now is really bad. Also, I disabled the updates from Windows because the last time ot took the notebook 2 days to update, and now when I try to update it manually I can't. I really need some help because everytime I need to do something important the notebook just freezes and I cannot use it. [link] [comments]
(Windows 7) My mouse pointer constantly flashes from loading to normal Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:16 PM PST I'm having this problem I think since I haf a random blue screen of death while playing R6:S in full screen. My cursor constantly flashes between loading in background to normal every 2 frames, I've ran safe mode (limited all my applications usage and only running Microsoft software) and the problem still persists, I've ran MalwareBytes and apparently I've already deleted potentially dangerous files. Anyone know what this is? It's driving me insane and even more so a lot of my apps seem to be slow or don't even respond, my graphic card drivers are already on the latest stable build. Windows Not Recognizing Glyph SSD Posted: 02 Mar 2020 10:10 AM PST Hello, I can not seem to get a new SSD working. I have a Macbook and a custom gaming PC. I format my drives ExFat so there are no issues between systems. I recently got a Glyph external SSD and formatted it the ExFat on my Macbook Pro. It works on there but when I plug it into my Windows machine using the USB C port or the other USB ports, I get a notification saying, "Thunderbolt Device Functionality Might Be Limited." I have used other drives through that port such as a 10Tb G Drive HDD and a Samsung 500Gb T5 ssd. I am using the correct cables that came with my Glyph and have been trying all the other cables that work with my other drives but get the same issue. I have read some things about having to format to ExFat on Windows to make it work with both systems, but I simply cannot get the drive to show up, no matter what I format it to on my Mac. MacDrive or HFSE Explorer cannot recognize it either so I just really don't know how I'm supposed to format it through windows, even though it's ExFat... I can see the device is recognized under the Device Manager under "Universal Serial Bus Devices" as "TB SSD". I have tried to update the drivers through the device manager but it says everything is up to date. I installed every update to Windows that I could and I still cannot get it to work. Is there anything I'm missing? System Information: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 - 7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz 32GB RAM Windows 10 Home Version 1909 OS Build 18363.693 [link] [comments]
Projector being recognized as TV Posted: 02 Mar 2020 01:44 PM PST So, this weekend I was hooking up to a projector via HDMI to VGA adapter (Don't know if that's necessary information, but giving all details) The adapter has worked before, just not with this laptop. The laptop detected the projector as a Digital Television, yet didn't show it as a device in settings. It was only visible in device manager and in Intel Display settings. No matter what I tried I could get it to project. All help is hugely appreciated as this device is rather new and I don't want this to be a reoccurring issue [link] [comments]

Issues on lock and log in screens Posted: 02 Mar 2020 11:26 AM PST Issue 1: Every time that I wake up or turn on my computer the time is first displayed in 12 hour format, and then changes to the correct (the setting that is set) 24 hour time after 1-2 seconds. Issue 2: Pressing a key on the lock screen doesn't register for the password field, so I have to click something just to get to the login screen, or start to type my password again. Anyone familiar with these issues, or are they unfixable bugs? [link] [comments] |
