Dark Sky discontinued as of July 1st - bought out by Apple, shutting down Android version Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:40 AM PDT Pretty bummed about this as it's one of my favorite apps. I've used it exclusively as a weather app for about the last 5 years. What's the next best app that isn't Accuweather or WeatherBug? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 31 Mar 2020 08:13 AM PDT Google Tasks has come a long way in the past few months, but it still lacks basic features such as list sharing. My brother and I chose to make this feature possible: we developed an interface (TasksBoard) on which you pick the list to share and it gives you a shareable link that you can send to anyone with a Google Account. The invitee can then paste the link in his browser, log in with his Google account, and Voilà ! Updates will sync between all users *only* once per hour. We couldn't make them sync more frequently because Google has set a quota of calls to its API that we have to pay to increase. We hope this will help some of you as it helps us ... Feel free to tell me if you find a bug with the sync! [link] [comments] |
An alternative to dark sky [Link shared below] Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:19 AM PDT Since all of you know, that Dark Sky got bought by apple today. And the android app is going to be discontinued. So here is one app which is quite nice and works very well. There are other app too like Overdrop Pro and many others. But I prefer this as the animations of this app awesome and the dev is very responsive about bugs and feature requests. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appyweather.appyweather I am NOT the devloper of this app, but thought will share this. Anybody have an app(s) they love? (Paid apps welcome) Posted: 30 Mar 2020 09:25 PM PDT I have almost $20 saved from Google Rewards, and it's burning a hole in my pocket during quarantine... Games, photo apps, scheduling, performance, whatever... Anything you've got as a recommendation is welcome! Also, I have a Galaxy S8+ [link] [comments] |

Fitness app to challenge a friend? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:17 AM PDT Hi everyone, I thought I would be able to find such an app in 2min but apparently it's more complicated. I want to start a pull-up challenge with a buddy and we'd like to keep track of it in an app. We will both do pull-ups from home throughout the day and we need something easy to input. Ideally, the app would then send a notification to the other participant to build a bit of pressure. Some other features such as a nice duel interface and a total reps count (A has done 194 pushups in 10 days while B has done 185 in 10 days for instance) could be cool features too. Finally, we need to app to be both Android and Iphone compatible. Can the magic of Reddit help us find this perfect app? Thanks! [link] [comments] |

Anyone else suddenly getting these suggested sites on Chrooma? (paid version) Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:57 AM PDT https://i.imgur.com/YMIhcSB.png pretty scummy move (again) from Chrooma if it was done on purpose. Also, I fucking live in England, half of those websites don't even work. I'm trying to switch to another keyboard but nothing meets my needs.

Is there anyway to setup a keyboard just for an android app? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:23 AM PDT The title maybe confusing so I'll break it down. I want to use gboard just for whatsapp and reddit and for other apps i want to use another keyboard. Now instead of changing it manually everytime is tgere anyway to set it for once and for all. Twitter app that syncs across devices? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 09:25 AM PDT Hi all, used to love tweetmarker. Since that has died, are there any apps that allow you to sync twitter timelines across devices? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2020 07:04 AM PDT I have some images that are supposed to be sequential but all have crazy random names (meaning they never appear in correct order) so I need a way, using RegEx, to both give each file the same name, and suffix that name not with numbers but letters (to match what I've already started doing). Not only that but I need "A" ( or "1" if lettering isn't possible ) to start on the FIRST file but for some reason it always starts on the 2nd file in a "batch rename" which can result in the 1st file appearing as the last. Is there any way I can do both things, and simultaneously, in Mixplorer? Thanks [link] [comments] |
[DEV] First app! Practice any language you want Posted: 31 Mar 2020 03:16 AM PDT Hey folks, I am making an app for my MSc in computational linguistics and would love some tips I'm currently writing a blog post about it, but in the meantime, here it is: This is my first time making an app and I'm using Flutter and Firebase. The game is image based and completely language independent. You pick your languages when you create your profile and Polygloss will match you with another player, then you have to help each other guess the correct image using the chosen language. It doesn't matter if you make some mistakes as long as you are able to communicate :) But you can still help each other grow by providing feedback. I believe it's most suited for people who already know some of the language and/or are using some other materials and apps on the side Here's a quick video of me playing it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7uxUfsSKmk I'll be over the moon if you can provide some feedback on the game <3 FAQ Q. Which languages are available? A. All of them. Q. Wait, really? A. Yes, as long as there is another player to play with you in that language, Polygloss will partner you. You can even enter your own made up language and play with your friends Q. Why did you make this game? A. There's a bigger blog post coming up about this, but to sum up: Polygloss is more suited to people who already have some knowledge of the target language but aren't knowledgeable, confident, calm or extrovert enough to jump into full conversations with other humans on apps like Tandem or HelloTalk. Other apps like Duolingo, Memrise, Babbel, Busuu, etc. might be good at teaching you vocabulary or giving people grammar lessons but really struggle in allowing them to practice something called creative construction early on. Being able to form sentences freely with a communicative purpose allows learners to test hypothesis, notice gaps in their knowledge, get feedback and gradually organize their internal language and refine it. Polygloss is not here to teach you a language, but to practice and improve it with less stress on performance and less struggle to find people to talk to and not let the conversation die. It's best used in combination with textbooks, classrooms, other language learning apps, google translate, etc. but I assure you will also learn new things from other players. Q. Is the game 100% ready? A. No, it is still in development and I am taking feature suggestions. You can follow me on twitter or instagram where I talk more about the roadmap or post a suggestion on Github. https://github.com/Etiene/polygloss_public/issues Q. Is it free? A. Yes. Q. Will it be taken down once your MSc is over? A. No. [link] [comments] |
Habit tracking apps that track other apps Posted: 31 Mar 2020 12:38 PM PDT I know that habit tracking apps exist, but those usually rely on you self-reporting that you have or haven't completed a certain goal. I also know that there are apps to track how much you're using your phone and specific apps, but those tend to be to encourage you to stop/reduce phone usage altogether. Specifically what I'm looking for is an app that can track how often I'm using the ebook app on my phone and give me a little sticker or something for each day that I've read for more than say an hour, so that I don't have to time myself and remember to input it into the habit app. Anyone know if anything like this exists? Is there a "face retouch" app that works with VIDEO? Posted: 31 Mar 2020 11:38 AM PDT Not just selfies, but actual video - preferably in real time but OK if I gotta take the video, then import it back to process the retouching. Any ideas? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 31 Mar 2020 05:11 AM PDT Hi, some friends these days are still using Skype and doing Skype meetings I've never used it much, just created an account when using Windows phone but never used it. Tried it with Hermit, is working but with I'm not sure if I should try to install it create a new account and try to use it and maybe I'll find out useful.. Or if I should just use Skype web app on Hermit with my old account for those friends and avoid to make it... Do you think it could be useful to have? [link] [comments] |
