Smart Cookie Secure Web Browser - a free, open source and privacy friendly browser for Android

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 05:07 AM PST

Hello, I'm the developer of Smart Cookie Secure Web Browser (SmartCookieWeb), a WebView Android browser based on Lightning Browser. I posted it here a while ago, but it's changed significantly since, now with a significantly better extension system, a blocker for annoying cookie dialogue (still in beta, but mostly works), a completely redesigned private browsing mode and more!

Here are some of its key features:

    • Completely free and ad-free

    • HTTP proxy, I2P and Orbot supoort

    • Built-in and on by default ad and tracker blocking

    • A modern, easy to use UI

    • A download size of less than 4MB

    • Parental controls

    ... And much more!

    You can get it from:

    Google Play:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cookiegames.smartcookie

F-Droid (latest version not available on website yet - F-Droid app required):

I created a free app that lets you keep a log of the stuff in your home and then search for it using the Google Assistant. It is called HouseBook.

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 03:35 PM PST

    Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=chenige.chkchk.wairz

    iOS - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/houselog/id1489866496?ign-mpt=uo%3D2

I just released the iOS version of this app a few days ago.

Basically, it is an app that helps you in a few ways. It lets you keep track of the things in your house for insurance purposes in case of a fire or some other disaster. It can be used to help you remember where your stuff is. Everything is automatically backed up to the cloud. It also has a few cool home automation applications. Once you have entered in all of your stuff and its location(down to cabinets and shelves), you can tell the Google Assistant to "Ask HouseBook where my umbrella is" and it will respond with "Your umbrella is in the top shelf of the entryway closet." Or think about when you are making a smoothie and you forgot where the blender is. You can just say "Hey Google, ask HouseBook where my blender is." and it will say "Your blender is in the bottom drawer of the cabinet by the sink." You can also share your house with others(Android only for now. iOS coming soon). This can be used for things like....

    - An AirBnb host sharing their house with a tenant. Maybe the tenant needs to know where extra toilet paper is, if the house is going to have pots and pans, how to set up the hot tub etc.

    - Sharing your house with a babysitter coming over so they know where things are.

    - Showing your collection to a friend.

    etc.

I think this has the potential to be a pretty big idea and I am just getting started with it. Please let me know if you have any Suggestions/Feedback/Feature Requests/Bug Reports. Also, 5 star ratings are a big help. :)

    My Current priorities

    1. Add the house sharing feature to iOS.
    2. Add a field that lets you specify the number of items in inventory.
    3. Allow the editing of the house name.
    4. Add a field for house description.
    5. Add the ability to set a house picture.
    6. Allow multiple owned houses.
    7. Automatically search for Name and description by image searching on google.
    8. Move item by voice. "Hey Google, I moved my blender to the bottom drawer of the left kitchen cabinet"

Minimalist note-taking app with checklist feature & dark mode?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:39 AM PST

That's all the features I'm looking for. Nothing too heavy. I just need to take notes in checklist format and tick 'em off. Kinda like Google Keep but not Google Keep.
    Thanks.

I want a sexy widget like this one. Any suggestions?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:55 AM PST

This is Circle launcher in the pic. I love the concept of an icons in the center of the screen that is a shortcut to all my apps. But, it doesn't work and I can't get my nice white icon pack to work with it either. Any suggestions on an alternative?

Is there a way to flash Xperia's stock Android without rooting the phone? (Japanese Z5 full of bloatware)

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 11:35 AM PST

    I bought a brand new Z5 from a shady guy :P

I was wondering if it's possible to do a clean install of the Xperia Android software without Docomo's (Japanese carrier) bloatware? Possibly, without rooting the phone or doing other complicated and risky tasks?

Is there an official firmware from Sony or with Xperia Companion perhaps?

[Question] Is there a way to send and receive voice messages using Android Auto?

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:55 AM PST

[posted this on /r/Android but realized it probably doesn't fit]

I feel like there should be a simple answer to this but I can't find it anywhere. Usually I text my partner in the car using Messages. "Hey Google, text my wife I'm picking up some milk." Sometimes it's a longer message, and either it gets cuts off or transcribed poorly. I also don't like waiting for it to be read back to me every time. Is there a way to

    a. use my voice to send a voice recording

    b. listen to the response using Android Auto

I don't care if I need to move to WhatsApp, Telegram, or something else. And, yes, I can obviously just call her, but that's not always convenient for either of us.

[Mixplorer Free] Need a little help with the advanced renaming features. Accidentally screwed up a couple files trying something new :/

    Posted: 06 Feb 2020 09:07 PM PST

Mixplorer has a great set of file renaming features allowing for a lot of flexibility and its been really useful to me a number of times. What I wanted to do now was remove the text "pinterest-" from 2 JPGs (so the filenames start with the artists name). In the options I saw "remove characters" so I typed in "pinterest-" but on hitting OK, I realised I interpreted "remove characters" as "remove string" AARGH lol. Easy to fix the screwup but does anyone know how to actually do what I wanted without individual renaming for future cases where I have a bunch of files that need an entire string removing, but not each instance of each character? Its likely a RegEx option but I've learned not to experiment with unexplained RegEx options quite a while back (nothing is explained in the app, and theres no help file). So, instead of "studying RegEx 101" , I'd just like some quick help!

    Cheers

Whatsapp is over compressing images and videos on status

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:39 AM PST

I post videos in the status that are in excellent qualities, there is almost no compression, but when I post mine it gets very bad, it loses a lot of quality, I wonder if there is any app or converter that transforms the videos just for the status of whatsapp do not compress all

Every android developer is willing to get more downloads

    Posted: 07 Feb 2020 06:09 AM PST

As an Android app developer I know, developing an app is easier than publishing it and getting downloads. Because we need to know a lot of things about the market like trending keywords, most suitable categories, competitive developers. If you find those things in your first try you will touch the fortune. But unfortunately, it is the hardest work for us, app developers.

We use many methods to find those best keywords categories with spending money and time.

As a mobile app developer, I used several scripts to do market research and find subreddits. Now I combined that scripts with AI technologies and build xkeyseo.com which can use to

    Keyword research

    1. Competitor analysis
    2. Market spread analysis
    3. Keyword suggestion generations
    4. Find relevant subreddits

I know all of these things can be done by yourself but I'm pretty sure it will take hours. If you use https://xkeyseo.com/aso tools you can have that report within 2 minutes.
